It\nwill help real-time information sharing with investigators across India. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Central Bureau\nof Investigation (CBI)<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It is the premier investigating police agency in\nIndia. It functions under <strong>Dept. of\nPersonnel, Ministry of Personnel, Pension &amp; Public Grievances<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Background:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>CBI owes its origin to the Special Police\nEstablishment, constituted by the British government in 1941 which was\nsubstituted by the <strong>Delhi Special Police\nEstablishment (DSPE) Act, 1946.<\/strong><\/li><li>It is an <strong>executive\nbody<\/strong> formed in <strong>1963<\/strong> through a\nGovernment of India resolution. The establishment of the CBI was recommended by\nthe <strong>Santhanam Committee on Prevention of\nCorruption<\/strong> (1962-64)<\/li><li>CBI\u2019s investigative and jurisdiction powers are\ngoverned by the DSPE Act, 1946.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Functions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Investigating cases of corruption and fraud\ncommitted by public servants of all Central Govt. Departments, Central Public\nSector Undertakings and Central Financial Institutions.<\/li><li>Investigating economic crimes, including bank\nfrauds, financial frauds, Import Export &amp; Foreign Exchange violations,\nlarge-scale smuggling of narcotics, antiques, cybercrime etc.<\/li><li>Investigating special Crimes, such as cases of\nterrorism, bomb blasts, sensational homicides, etc.<\/li><li>Coordinating the activities of the anti-corruption\nagencies and the various state police forces.<\/li><li>Taking up, on the request of a state government,\nany case of public importance for investigation.<\/li><li>Act as Interpol of India and functions as an\ninterface between the law enforcement agencies of India and other countries to\nensure cooperation.<\/li><li>Maintaining crime statistics and disseminating\ncriminal information<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances &amp; Pensions has announced that a Centralised Technology Vertical (CTV) will be set up within CBI Facts: Centralised Technology Vertical (CTV): The propose CTV will be operational by 2020.
