I also gave 5 months to pre, followed sfg-1, did pyq, mocks and everything.. was very confident but couldn't clear again.. I am currently very very confused.. should I go full throttle one more time or should think about a job or something along with upsc this time.I just want to know in what direction are people like you thinking and what's your course of action.. so that I can gain some new perspective.
Am 24 with decent Plan B but I don't want to go that way. Want to make 2023 last, no if/but.

Hey guys, so this is my first comment/post on any prep related platform ever. I thought I needed to say this to get it out of the way before I dive in for the upcoming cycle again. A few days ago, I couldn't clear my second prelims. The first one I wrote in 2021 was with haphazard planning and complete neglect of csat. I scored 7.5 marks below the cut off, so that motivated me to go for the second attempt, thinking I can manage the gap. To be very honest, it felt like I did everything possible (though there's always scope for more). PYQs, sfg 1 and 2, mocks, same source multiple times, and it really felt like I would get through this time. I didn't. It did not feel good. I know in the next few days I can muster up the courage to go for this again, but it is a little exhausting. Kind of feels like I'm doing a diploma in pre for the past two years lol.
What I completely missed out on in my last two attempts was peer support. I barely knew of anyone else preparing until 2/3 months ago. I'm hoping to be a part of this journey with a support group this time :) Will be appearing next year with philo optional (if there's anyone with philo pls let me know). This was just a little venting I needed to do before I decide to go back to 8 hour sittings and soul crushing back pains. A word of caution or advice would be immensely helpful :) thanks!
@LetsGetThisBread My friend advice me this time ki bhai PG kr lete hai apne apne optional se ya kisi bhi subject me bus PG honi jarui hai.. So i said OK..To be specific CUET PG ME kuch programme bhare hai.. Admission ke liye.
Bhai yahi par mai ek unsolicited advice dena chahunga jo mujhe bhi mili thi but maine maani nahi and abb mai heavily regret kar raha hu. Marzi ho toh consider karna ya fir you can chuck it off altogether.
If you are considering doing masters, I would suggest ki open se karo rather than kisi regular college/university se. Because regular course ke khoob chochle hote hai for eg, attendance, internals, assignments and what not. Inn sab mei kaafi time chala jaata hai and CSE ki tyaari ka satyanaash ho jaata hai. Also, naye naye log bhi contact mei aate hai toh usse bhi kahi na kahi asar padta hai.
Mai bhi 2020 mei join kara tha kisi ek central university ka regular masters course and meri tyaari has gone for a toss tbh. Prior to 2020, meri preparation rock solid chal rahi thi but masters ki vajah se sab gadbad hogaya.
Ek example deta hu apne case ka. Mere course ka last sem ka exam iss saal ke mid May se leke first week of June tak thay and side by side June 5 ka prelims bhi tha. I was planning to skip this year’s attempt but mujh par pressure bana ki iss saal ka attempt dena hai kisi bhi haal mei, so I decided ki college ka last sem drop karunga. Abb yeh realisation aayi drop karne ki, prelims se 30 dinn pehle, so mere paas Pre ki tyaari karne ka limited time tha. Iss limited time mei mai GS paper 1 ka max tyaari kar paaya but csat ko dhyaan nahi de paaya, and vohi hua jiska darr lag raha tha, 5 June ko GS1 ka sahi gaya but csat mei tabiyat vala fuck-up ho gaya. Abb na hee mains likh paa raha and naa hee degree hath mei aa rahi iss saal. :/
So inn baato ko consider karna decision lete huye. I’m saying this because I’m assuming you are trying to take admission in some regular course as you mentioned CUET.
Agar CSE ki tyaari aur regular course ke chochle ek sath manage kar paao toh boht hee Badia but aisa rarely hota hai. Mera course kuch aisa hai ki meri class ke 50 baccho mei se 45 bacche consider/want to give CSE but course hee itna hectic hogaya ki unn 45 mei se mujhe mila ke 1-2 aur hee hai jo college mei hone ke sath sath attempt bhi diye hai CSE ka, baaki 42-43 logo ne seedha kaha ki course complete hone ke baad hee attempt dengay kyuki time hee nahi milta tyaari karne ka sahi se, so I hope issey tum ek effective decision le paao. :)

Actually kya hota hai ki jab Prelims fail hote hai to dimag kam krna band kr deta hai Aur sabki advice sahi lagne lagti hai is chakar me de dana dan form fill kar dete hai. Ki kahi kuch to hath lage aur bad me fas jate hai.. Aur ek do mahine bad sara cloud clear hota hai.. Aur chije clear samajh me ati hai.
Ab form fill Kar dia hai to exam de aunga.. Aur kahi admission hua to thik hai.. Nahi hua to bhi thik.. Baki preparation se no compromise.. Preparations is always on my top priority.

Wow! was thinking about this party since past few days. Joined a library recently n been seeing teenage couples (harkat wise) do all the stuff which I did in my teenage! Also my judgmental ass never forgets to smirk at another one like me while getting up or getting back to seat. Am 24 & already feeling like 50 something (I guess they feel this way. Pure Guess :P).
Besides that I'm back in love with my studies! Its just happening.
A random thought.
Lately, i've been experiencing the silly ways that cse (and its failures) change you.
I recently joined instagram, after a 3 years-long break. And began to feel a parental pity for how my old classmates are spending (read squandering) their lives. I am 22 this year, so are my friends. 😐.I see my friends becoming parents on Instagram and it’s just pity that I feel. 😶
(Disclaimer: I love babies but at some point everyone hates their kid)

I'm glad I'm still at a stage where I only receive news of pals getting married; seeing them become parents would require a different level of courage 😆

I was a perfectly healthy looking person till the time I entered this arena!
After moving to Delhi, its understandable but I started losing even when I was at home.
The journey of CSE becomes more cumbersome when a person clears GS 1 comfortably but fails Csat repeatedly.
Clearing GS 1 repeatedly gives you confidence that you are on right track but CSAT failure (2 in line) do not give you a chance to cheer on your good work.
I believe getting competency in Csat is difficult in limited time. I joined amit garg's course in my 2022 attempt but it was full of crap.
Can anyone tell me how to master csat?
I use the PYQ and practice. I think sleepyclasses also has a YouTube playlist for CSAT which is good

Lekin dost ka clear nahi hua aur unhone preparation leave krke aage nikal gaye.. Maine khud ko samjhaye rakha.
Sigma male ki video dekh dekh ke stay strong aur stay alone krte rha.. Phir achanak mahsoos hota hai, aap kamjor ho rahe hai Aap akela ho rahe hai..
Aap bahut kuch bolna, kahna aur sunna chahte hai but koi sunne wala hi nahi hai..
Tabhi achanak koi Full moon ki tarah aata hai. Aur charo taraf roshni kar deta hai. Aur jabtak aap sochte hai ki kya ye sach hai. Tabtak Phir Amavsya ki kali rate Aa jati hai Aur shayad vo bhi chla jata hai..
AUR Phir se vahi routine wahi kam aur wahi schedule wahi drama aap apne charo taraf pate hai..
Kabtak keyboard par emotions nikalte RHOGE samajh hi ni aata..

Can relate to every single word written here. Being a very talkative person I had been encircled by people all my life but now am alone all lonely. Initially when I started preparing in 2020 it felt good rather amazing that I've no information load. No more post break up consolations! But as I went further it changed. I know I can't get back to my old friends, my own people. I genuinely tried & was completely clueless as to what to talk about. In UPSC circles too, I used a lot of filters( too judgmental, I believe) & ended up as a loner again. I absolutely don't want to be alpha again, it has eaten up me from inside.
Read@Tata 's comment about daydreaming & now I realize that I've completely forgotten the speech at UN where I was ripping off west's agendas. I feel I've lost the purpose, the motivation & the goal.
I don't know what to do so am waiting!
Showing signs of recovery now, biggest being Ive again started daydreaming again and I am loving it. From going to Venice after selection with family to holidaying at taj lake palace with my crush to giving toppers talk at vision ias, my life and dreams are getting back on track! God being kinder on me :)
Went out for a walk just now however I was so weak that I could barely walk for 10 minutes, but considering my condition few days ago thats a good number too!
@Ghostwalker I puke my emotions on this thread, talk to my closest friends and it works.

Like a bunch of stubborn bratty child, they even taunted me trying to bait me into giving them a good thrashing. But i realised the more i try to be controlling and overbearing the more their defiance grows. So, for now i am waiting it out, hoping they get tired and go to sleep ,like all children do, and i may have my peace of mind back and i may get down to do some serious work XD

Ho jayega yaar. This reminds me of the story of the rabbit and the elephant. Rabbit and the elephant were expecting babies around the same time. I realised I'm losing friends, met a college friend last week and I was told that I've changed and vibes don't match as I'm relatively calm and quiet and think and speak.I did my graduation in pune, and my friends group had different goals. So, I cameback to my hometown to prepare for my exam as I was not getting any inspiration there, some of my school friends are preparing for CSE and some of them gave mains twice. So, I started to hang out with them and started preparing.I felt a little bad that I was told that I've changed and didn't really enjoy meeting my college friend (all they would talk about is trips and parties) but then I am the kind of person who'd always prefer a camping trip than go to a party.I don't know, because when I was with them I used to feel that I'm not this person and what I'm now is something I feel like being myself.I don't know what has drifted apart, but only some people get what I have been upto and why I can not pick their calls. Also, lost two of my really close friends from office which I came to know that one of them is married and didn't even bother to tell me.All this feels bad sometimes, but I don't know.anyways, sorry for the long rant.
Number of 'I's in this comment makes it very relatable to me! How small the life has become, surrounded by I, me & myself. Last week I was lonely AF, because I wasn't with myself. Nowadays I am in pretty nice company as I've started respecting & talking to myself. There will be days you will seek people & you will feel lonely in an ocean of people & there will also be days when you don't want to talk to anyone except your own self.

Hi guys. Spent around 9-10 hours in college.What I could barely manage was reading 10-15 pages of May monthly + Cursory reading of Newspaper
My CA completion are delayed by miles I guess.

1. Newspaper reading is necessary, not essential
2. Do read monthlies or you can refer to those 365 stuff at the end
3. Avoid making notes from Newspaper. It has very low RoI

Done with morning one and half hour. More to go. Time to grind. Wish I could listen my favourite songs w someone and vibe. Wish I could tell them why I like this song and then I really wish I we'll sing those songs together.
It hurts when you no longer have that someone. Slowly you stop listening to your favourite music, slowly you stop doing things that you enjoy because now those things remind you of that someone. You stop singing your favourite song, you stop watching your favourite show, you try to explore new things which may not necessary give you happiness.
Well exploring new things has it's pros and cons. I would want to explore new things with a positive and empty mind space. Which I don't think is possible for me right now. Or I would want to explore new things with people I feel comfortable with.
Am I a hopeless romantic ? Am I too emotional ? yadda yada. Do I overshare to random new people? YUP. Do they lose interest in me after I overshare ? YES. The girl who used to sit adjacent to me used to nudge me every now and then...I started moving away from my seat when she asked anything...I too am a nibba in UPSC.....she then started asking CSAT....she was also very touchy to me whenever she met outside the library...my intuition says she had a crush on me. Hey guys, after a long and truly tiring and frustrating day, I wanted nothing more than to just come back to my beloved prep. So I did the most low key thing, read the paper and catch up on newspaper backlog. I didn’t have it in me to do anything more. Han Mai chal diya....aur gaya Gym. People idolise Kabir Singh but we don't. We Went to gym for a brief refreshment from our usual dancing sessions. I mean 30 mins of workout really boosts up our productivity right? With the mindset of doing cardio today I entered gym only to find out that the usual aunties were wearing Sarees today. Aunties were looking Apsaras in their Green Sarees. Well, Navratre has it's pros and cons and who would have thought, one of the blessing of navratre was Dancinmaster dancing with em Apsaras in the GYM. I Did do Cardio today just the different kind, wink wink.
One of the Apsara had cool tattoos, while the other had highlighted her hair. It was fun to ball dance with them and record our videos on their SNAPCHAT. They are very cool and happy and warm. So ya@Tata not calling them auntie helps (':

So I have wasted a day giving a send off to my dear-est friend today.I always expected@D503 to light the fireworks. Now I have an opinion and that isn't a favourite amongst guys studying for an exam that is oriented towards Humanities.
So, I was being taught Hohfeld's theory by my favourite ma'am(Anju Vali Tikoo ma'am). So ma'am did posit a question before all of us in the due course of teaching the topic. The question was-What came first, Claims or Power?
She did explain the query superlatively. But, I would try to introduce that aspect in the debate sparked by my bhai@D503.So, Tyagis tried to bully and so did all the nincompoops who don't think twice before challenging the authority of the State.
And, I am super satisfied that State is being Retributive when its authority is jeopardised. State can reform what can be moderated. But, who will moderate the devilish tendencies of individuals trying to push girls into flesh trade. Or, for that matter trying to illegally grab properties and if restrained, then resorting to bullying.
Bulldozers aren't always the solution but they do send a message and a relevant one. The message that the State ain't a Soft State anymore. Furthermore, bulldozing ain't a lasting solution and I agree here. But, what it leads to is a general impression of state coming after you, for the grave wrongs you commit. This consequentially leads to fear and helps in establishing rule of law. Imagine raping a girl and a reformative system rewarding one with life skill courses in jail.
Also, the formation of governments is duly in the hands of the people of the country. And, in the process, they are entitled to Administraive Discretion, where bullying the untamed is a good option in some instances.
To conclude from where I started, there ain't any Claims sans Power. What we as citizens will demand if the idea of an imposing state itself is watered down.

Double time issue
Hi everyone currently I am writing mains test in exam like condition but I have faced double time issue like
10 Question 15 marker = 1.5 hours but I completed all in 3hrs
Similarly full length 3 hrs but it takes around 6 hrs. To complete the test..
Doubt..
1.Is it manageable with continuous writing that I can complete in time.
2. What should I focus now good quality content or time..

I don't how you all going to perceive it or judge what am writing. But I never faced this rishtedar n close people doubting or taunting thing at least in this preparation journey! You're not the only people@Thunderstorm &@DM but I've interacted with many people facing this problem. I don't know why am writing this but there should be some mechanism to overcome this! I mean you just can't keep on accepting garbage from people na.
The things which ensured protection in my case are-
- Never telling anyone except close family what am doing with my life(people are slowly getting to know)
- No unnecessary contact numbers exchanges
- Absolutely off social media
- No interest in other's lives(am not saying that you guys are having haha)

I was thinking about my own culture. Our town is said to be Forest area once. The literal meaning of my Town’s name is “The area where Tigers live”. Later forest was cleared and converted into agricultural land.
There’s a temple (Mundeshwari temple) in our area, which is claimed by Shaivas, Shaakt, tribals and Buddhists. But most popular belief is the incarnation of Shakti. There’s one more Temple of Tara Chandi. She is also believed to be a form of Shakti. But from the name itself it is clear that she is Buddhist goddess.
In the upcoming festival of Chhath puja, the Sun is considered a goddess (and not God). I believe she is a tribal/regional Goddess.
In GS-1 paper this year, the question on mythology could also be interpreted as Shaiva and Shaakt traditions.

I was talking to my friend 2-3 days back. He is practicing at Allahabad HC. I had a discussion about the issue of collegium system. He said that the same system, which everyone is criticising about, has saved it from Executive encroachment (don’t remember his exact words). Independence of judiciary is very important.
However, Judiciary should also be accommodative. I see the apt trolling on Twitter by Dilip Mandal and Gautam Bhatia. So better to leave the matter with them. They can handle it very well :p

A slow day today. Started by reading some pages of Indian Geography and then decided to come to college.The campus is marooned(Pre-Diwali vibes) and I feel absolutely drowsy.
@Naadan_Parinda I am not for NJAC tbh. I want the system to be somewhat similar to UPSC. Like someone gets into Lower Judiciary, moves up the ladder and goes on to become Judge in HCs and SC.Tbh,I feel sad for Judiciary wala crowd.What incentive do they have when they are assured that they will never get into Higher Judiciary, come what may.Also, there is a deep problem with Collegium. Those who go on to occupy the benches of HCs and SC,never had the experience of working in Lower Courts. All in all, very detached from the problems faced by the countryside.
PK understands quite a bit about Indian politics, but I have an ilking that he won't succeed in Bihar. He may be a good strategist but to win over a state still riddled with Mandal Politics is quite impossible.

I had even typed a comment requesting you to do your B.ed training with all seriousness in morning but then left halfway.
I've felt that people having qualifications for teaching posts & having qualified for similar exams do hell better than these people. Sometimes we all take help of these UPSC teachers because dearth of options but try comparing them with your school or college teachers recruited by a properly laid down process. Yes, you might feel that they don't teach enough but you will feel the difference in whatever little they do.
Nothing against anyone, wrote what I felt. I found the so called best faculties in coachings as below average & hence a rant maybe. Haha!

The ghee and dog reference is common one occuring even in Vedas. Dogs pollute the oblation because they lick it before eating it and so it is advised to keep the dog away while performing ritual sacrifices. I read this in a book on mythology or some blog. Even Mahabharat begins with the story of a dog who was beaten by brothers of king janamjeya even though the dog hadn't looked let alone lick the oblation. So the dog goes to his mother Sarna who curses Janamjaya as a result of which his father Parikshit dies of a snakebite. So ya dog and ghee is a common trope.
i have partially read valmiki's english translation, rst has been pending for a year now.
Mudda is whether the specific event happened or not & which is contentious for few & neglected by majority or at least they get offended. I think the suppression of female could have been explained with suitable & non-disrespectful manner but the winks & smirks are self explanatory in my opinion.

Life update + Story Time
You know how 'people say' that nice things happen, when you are least expecting them, or something like that.
So, nice things have happened! 🍋🌶
I got through JRF, I had not expected of course, given the circumstances I wrote the paper in...
Despite filling the form the day it was out, my centre was about 600KMS away & admit cards came out 48 hrs before the paper.
No prior city intimation or anything. I had almost given up on writing the paper, but somehow traveled last minute, to a city I had never been in, w/o any stay plan, you can imagine the state of revision and stress.
Train mein I applied for another job interview, got a callback and in a week I had a job, it was strange, really!
Because for the last one year, I had thought kaun hi hire karega, kya hi skillset hai mere pass, I even thought ki kisine apply nahi kiya hoga isiliye hire kiya mujhe!
(Job applications were becoz of constant looking at me with hope & pity at home, and me looking back at them with guilt)
Anyways, fast forward to JRF result day, wasn't really expecting to get through until a friend of mine was like, dekh toh leti yaar!
So, I checked and I though NTA had uploaded the wrong results 😂 so I re downloaded and mera hi result tha😂
lekin phir log poochne lage ki PhD kab join karogi😅
Today, I have many things I wished for an year ago, but I want more, perhaps that's what life is, you keep moving, you keep working & things start looking like they are falling in place.
In reality, they are never falling in place, there's always something more, something better, something greater.
These things have also sent me off track a little. But, day by day, inch by inch, I'll get back on track. I have moved cities and would prolly move again in a few months. But, I'll keep putting in effort everyday and see what comes next🤘

Forum is a nice place where you can anonymously write anything and no one will judge you - love you guys - I mean it. I've only met @Lawstice in person and our vibe matched a lot :)I let my mind wander, imagining all the stuff, daydreaming my fantasies. And often suffering in imagination. Read recently 'the power of your subconscious mind' and several YouTube videos on manifestation, let's see if I can manifest my dreams and if they turn into reality. I've also started reading Bhagavad Gita again, understanding it for the first time, such a difficult holy book to understand and much more difficult to actually practice its teachings like Nishkam karma or following a Satvik diet, or keeping oneself away from infatuations or hankering. How much there is to learn and how much mystery is there, several questions keep hovering over my mind when I am with myself doing nothing like what do I actually want from life, how will my love life be, how will life look like in my 70s (if I survive till then), if I can get back to my childhood2022 is going to end soon, a decade ago when I watched 2012 and there were rumors that the world will soon end, 2020 and subsequently, 2021 second wave gave us the opportunity to reflect how precious and at the same time fragile our life is, and after my hospitalization got a new lens to look at life. But at times this lens gets hazy. Ab sota hu bahut philosophy jhaad li. shubh ratri :)

Happy new year. I just want to share few specific things based on my experience and interaction with n number of students.
1.Don't panic: Jo hona hai woh hokar rahega. So, doing something is the most important thing than thinking about irrelevant things like whether I am going to clear prelims or not.
2.Give yourself less time to think:Nhi toh baal ki khaal niklegi ya arth ka anarth hoga. Keep yourself engaged in content related thing by any means like peer group discussion (I used to cover government schemes and animals in environment over phone call with my friend), youtube explainer videos for science and tech, random wikipedia pages especially for environment and buddhism, jainism and medieval india and indian express explained (ultimate important thing).
3.Join test series for lonewolf warriors: For people who tend to overthink, this is very much essential. Such people would think about history while reading polity, polity while reading geography and current affairs while reading geography. This affects both quality of studies and mental temperament. So, join a test series to ensure that you are focussed on one subject at a time as per the syllabus of the coming test.
4.Practice, practice and practice: Solve market based multiple test papers just to develop the acumen of problem solving. This is the most important thing especially for people from academic background as they may be out of sync with the competitive spirit.
5.Don't quantify: You don't have to count the number of tests you have or going to practice before prelims. You don't have to narrate this story to your children and grandchildren. More than number of questions, it's the quality of outcome for you that matters.
6.Do hell with marks in mocks: The most irrelevant question is what is the ideal score in mocks. I have scored 30 marks more than the cut off of UPSC CSE when I was consistently scoring in the range of 50 to 75 marks in my mocks. I remember in my first attempt I was scoring 30s to 50s in many of the sectional tests and in 70s in full syllabus tests and finally I scored 112 in actual prelims. So, don't bother too much about marks. Only learn from mistakes and do reverse engineering.
7.Be happy: Nobody cares about your struggle. That is immaterial. So, enjoy the process. Do you really believe that government is going to give you a district to care about lakhs of people if you can't handle your own cute lovely life.
