I feel this book is good for veterans as it provides width assuming readers have the depth.
In my humble opinion, 1st attempters should go for Shankar and read this one as a supplement to update themselves with the latest developments.

Have gone through Shankar for past three years. This year it’s Red Book aka Lal Kitaab :)
No need for first timers to go for the treatise of Shankar ! Unnecessary outdated things given.
