My roomie scored 148 in 2017 dropped down to 91 in 2018

Sticking to topic with decent content gives average score for sure and it’s better than a blunder to get below 100..

2018 topics were difficult to interpret and more difficult to express exactly

@bevancombhai first of all kudos to you for writing this much.

I agree with you on everything except that answer writing may/may not help in content per say but it will help increase your writing speed.
We should write tests though not for feedback and content enrichment but for speed and time management bcz it’s really difficult to write 6hrs a day for 4-5 days without practice.

I wrote directly in mains and couldn’t complete any paper 250/250.

Also u r right on examples part.. it’s impossible to recall relate and write particular example within 7min timeframe that too in tremendous mental pressure of mains n paper completion

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and busting the overhyped classes n material and also bakar on forum which is demotivating.

@Yes_I_am_insimple hai bro.. preparing as per coaching n not upsc demand.. too much mugging up.. no self analysis.. overconfidence under confidence, hurdle of prelims, weak health nutrition being sick etc etc

1.writing here and writing in exam totally diff things..
2. Problem of plenty.. knowing too much leading to diversion from demand of question
3.need to score well in all papers even if one paper goes below average u r out of race
4.competiton.. too many intellectuals very less posts
5. Not scoring good in interview

So called maiden attempters.. first attempt bolnewale only for namesake.. most of them start preparing from 9/10th or in graduation..
Well verse in english.. great family background.. n of course guidance from right time..

Most ppl who get selected in 4-5th attempt start preparing after graduation and carve their own way by learning from own mistakes and improving

Case studies were not case studies but qna.. difficult to bring too much ethics into it.. wrote gs type answers to it.. hope to get at least 8 case study

All will get 40-48 marks in theory questions on an avg

@Ravsnot sure.. but it’s a case study for 20 marks.. 4 pages space.. better to be more elaborative n fill at least 3-3.5 pages..

But if ur content is rich 1.5 pages will get u marks on similar lines..

Also i feel it’s easy to score 70-80 marks in any condition but the real struggle starts for each and every mark post 80-85 score..

@arcygenzytension of next paper is so high and mind and brain so saturated by 3 hrs of thinking to feel any emotion after paper.
I was oblivious to any emotion that time.
Though felt good after mains was over..

No regrets..
Tried as much as i could n there’s always a scope for improvement.

But ppl do remember broad outline of essays.

It’s impossible to recall what we have written in GS questions given the diversity of questions and demand of questions.. 73 GS questions nobody would be able to remember..

But few questions where ppl have written excellent answers tend to be imbibed in memories.. however i do not remember a single gs answer

I have written courage n dedication wala essay.. i dont recall what i have written except examples.

Ppl tend to post Gs answers here after going through many institutes answers and google..
Fake ppl will automatically vanish from forum once the result is out...

I had prepared an excellent write up on AI but when i read the topic 2-3 times I realised that it’s a trap..

So to be on safer side i also went with health education wala essay.. at least average marks to mil jaaye is liye...

Started with amartya sen n jean draze book untold story- india and contradictions
N then wrote about phc first n then education
As it specifically mentioned primary health but did not mention anything about education.. i dealt education part as primary second higher physical education n value education

Couldn’t remember any quote so did not mention
