Civil Services Examination 2014 – Cut Offs For Prelims, Mains & Final List Released

The Civil Services 2014 Examination cycle has come to an end with the release of Finally Selected Candidates List. Now that the exam cycle is over, UPSC will come out of its anti-RTI mode  and 100% opacity mode to be a little transparent translucent.

UPSC has declared the cut off for Prelims, Mains & Interview.

1. First the UPSC Prelims 2014 Cut Off

Verdict:

  • Thanks to Tougher GS Paper , and Elimination of Decision Making & English Questions from CSAT, the cut off has been rationalised ( decreased as compared to 2013 Prelims )

2. The UPSC Mains 2014 Cut Off

Verdict:

  • Mains cut off has drastically increased
  • Cut off for OBCs and SCs is almost same
  • Mains Cut Off increase due to non-butchering of popular optionals like Public Administration & Geography, which have seen good selections.

3. UPSC Civil Services 2014 Final List Cut Off

Verdict:

  • Straightaway jump of 114 marks in Cut Off for General and 104 Marks jump in ST Category for making it to the final list
  • A large number of candidates in this year’s list are already in IPS & Allied Services, so a lot of people ( more than 100 ) who have not had improvement in service may not join on the basis of this years list. Hence UPSC is also maintaining a consolidated list of 254 candidates which will be released in due course of time.
