DC is inherently costlier for everyday appliances like lamps and Fluorescent Light. It turns on/off at 50Hz due to AC thereby prolonging the lifespan and utility. Originally, carbon lamps were DC powered, but it was discovered that AC is far more efficient in application. So why going back to DC now? 😀

AC is much easier (therefore cheaper) to step up and down in voltage than DC, and can be done more efficiently (typcially, currently) than the much more expensive and complex DC step-up/step-down systems. That is why AC is used for mains power transmission at a national level.
AC is, in fact, not inherantly better for long-distance power transmission than DC. But due to the fact that losses in higher voltageare lower. We prefer AC.
Now if powe is produced at home. We will need only DC as no Step up or step down.

An interesting question is why Electricity Technology is moving towards DC now after centuries of dominance of AC. I wonder why nobody is asking that. 😛

Actually, atm pressure affects the water temperature range bz as atm pressure increases, water molecules move faster and thus turn into gas which in turn become a reason for atm pressure. so, along with availability of water, atm pressure must be a condition for habitability.

I don’t think that was the only solo reason (water availability)….!! Is it declared habitable for human? I think its still more debatable to scientists. Moon is not habitable for human due to atmospheric reason Plus no water etc. There are number of factors are involved.

Mars air pressure is not favorable for us but still it is categorized as habitual planet because water availability is envisaged. -
Dear, I do not know Mars atm pressure or whether its proved habitable or not. What i know is our body is not adapted to too low or too high atm pressure. That is why Astronomers at ISS wear Space suit to survive there or when they landed on moon.

The atmospheric pressure at Mars is 0.6 percentage of earth sea level pressure but still Mars is considered as habitable planet.

Atmospheric pressure plays an important role…..Suppose if atmospheric pressure is so lower than your blood pressure….then your blood vessels will be burst..!! [ Same as wind blows from Higher pressure to lower pressure].
