absolutely right. All debentures are bonds but vice versa may not be true. Hence statement 1 is correct.
🙂 , I understand Bhoomi . You are absolutely right !!!
good to see that yu took my words in a positive sense..yu are really doing well in all the platforms just keep the spirit on..
I said so because my friend gave cse pre 2016..she got cleared and appeared for mains..but she was not able to clear the reason was flowing of her in the winds of overconfidence with a blind eye on her target…
so was just telling you as a friend as an aspirant..coz deserving candidates like you should win the race…:)
There is a fine line between overconfidence and positive outlook. As you advised, I will take care not to be overconfident with good scores (However, out of 10 tests I give, only twice or thrice I get good marks – rest of the time I get average or just above average marks)
All the best to you BHOOMI !!!
Actually – the comment related to SAKARATMAKTA is based on my experience – when I feel disappointed or think negatively – I waste my entire day :-). However, in case of positive thought process – I would have learnt from my mistakes. Hence, preached JEAN regarding SAKARATMAKTA
Note – KOHLI is always CHARGED UP !!!!
Thank you buddy. You are right.
??
it seems you are highly charged up for prelims….
just one thing as an aspirant don’t take it otherwise…just don’t be overconfident with good scores all the time…don’t compromise the pace of your studies
all the best..:)
very true..thanks
Sakaratmakta banaye rakho 🙂 ( believe that you will achieve success)
Negative thoughts even if it come for a moment have potential to get entrenched in you just like a minute spark can lead to massive forest fire !!!

Devaluation will indirectly increase import duties from developed nations without getting into trouble with MFN clauses. Thereby it makes imports more expensive and helps in CAD abridging.

yup….FTAs are exceptions…..hahaha, complex? Bahot complex. Fatt leti hain.. 🙂
hmm, free trade agreements, regional trade agreements also show favourable trade conditions as compared to members not included in those FTAs/RTAs – this is an exception to MFN clause of WTO. Bhai, WTO ka constitution to Indian constitution se be complex nikala 🙂
True dear, as empty bottles always have more potential to get filled. Here 0 , forum IAS is 100% so maximum potential difference,
Bhaii…waise toh WTO kaa member bnne mei draft mei likha hota hain MFN automatically applies…!! Kuch FTA ke case mei exception b hota hain…..but 2 WTO member kee bnn nahi rahi hain….toh woh ek dooze ko sahi treat nahi krte as per WTO norms (unlke other members)….But mood bnn zaata hain toh yeh show krnaa ki haan, ab hamaari bnne lagi hain…and i wil equally treat 2nd member….but its not like ki 2nd waala 1st waale ko equal treat karein…….!! But WTO ke norms mei MFN kaa meaning yehi hain ki hereby i commit myself to treat all WTO members equally ( in term of barriers)…!!
P.S : WTO ke constitution ke articles mein iska (MFN) meaning yehi hain….aur yeh clause issi kaaran likhaa gayaa ki koi Faaltu baad mei nahi bole ki hume toh bataaya ni tha.

One thing should also be emphasized that MFN status of non discriminatory approach is valid only if all member countries are WTO members, I mean country who got MFN status and other countries with whom privileged trade is carried on, both should belong to same body – WTO.
As per your example, if India does some changes in trade with Germany (a WTO member) then it must have to follow the same approach to all those WTO member countries who have got MFN status by India.

ohhh 🙂 Tab is symbolic baat ke liye hi India Pakistan ko MFN status de ya naa de – itni badi news ban gayi ?
भाई मेरे ये MFN का पूरा कन्सप्ट symbolic है….
Bhai – what you have written is perfectly correct and I understand it
My main question is – MFN status to all members of WTO or to only these 3 countries ?
??
Suppose, you have three friends in your classroom. You have little bit different relations with all the three friends. With such few difference, it is possible that you may leave one friend and not invite on your birthday party. But, one day A friend whom you not liking much, you give him MFN status. Matlab, ke Ab tumhare saath discriminate nahi kar sakte. You will also be invited to the birthday party If I invite other two. This compulsion has been made because the third friend was also belong to the same classroom.
agree, thanks for the clarification Arsenal ..regards !
Koi naaa – getting 0/5 now should motivate you to learn 5 new concepts – which may even come in exam and you will enjoy the fruit of success in real exam then 😉
I always had one confusion – If a country has to give all other WTO members MFN status, why outcry for giving Pakistan MFN status. Why India has given MFN status to Bangladesh, Pakistan and Vietnam. Though, it is evident that a country should follow non-discriminatory trade policies for all the trading partners, does it mean India can have favourable trade policies for these 3 nations by having lower import duties and tariffs on trade as compared to other nations. Means if India reduces tariff on German products, it will have to do it for these 3 MFN nations also, or India would need to lower the tariffs for all other WTO members ?
Some economy expert, please clear my doubts
😛 😛 😛
For clarity’s sake, If I have the adequate capital even I can become an
FII (if you assume that I am a foreigner). However, I cannot be a
reputed lead manager. That function is specialized and is only for
certain investment bankers, i.e, lead managers.

P Notes are issued ‘through’ FII’s not FCCB’s. You were right all along Quest. FCCB’s are issued through reputed lead managers in international capital markets. FII”S invest in FCCB’s.
and I thought only P-notes are issued ”Through”..possibly I need to read more on FCCBs ..thanks anyways !

इस वाक्य में क्या परेशानी है?
Okay, I did not account for the net effect due to cheap exports and reduction in demand for imports.
Indian markets are too sentimental anyway. I did intra-day futures on ICE at a prop-trading firm.
that precisely is what I’m trying to figure out 😀
ques-1 galat krnaa bnta tha…in fact Exam mei hum skip kr dete…but Simple waale kaahe galat kare ho aap? 🙂
I also think so, can any Fii issue FCB???
I understand the diff between a deb and a bond ..
for statement 2 – Isn’t there a diff between issued through and issued ”to” ??

Hi friend you expresed your feeling, but we are not, nothing else. i hope many people are in same position as me. dont worry we will rock in future.
I think given answer is correct.
Though bonds and debentures are interchangeably used in India but there is big difference between both.
So first statement is wrong.
2nd statement is right. FCCBs are quasi-debt instruments and tradable on the stock exchange. Investors are hedge-fund arbitrators or foreign nationals.
So if we say that these are issued through foreign institutional investor, what is wrong in that?

Ab zaldi party ke saath Funde b de daalo hum sbhi ko….!! Aapne ques-1 sahi kia hain….Khushi mei party toh bnti hain.
You are wrong bro. I’ll tell you why through an incident in my life.
Around one and a half years back, (the date was August 23th, 2015). The chinese government had decided to devalue their currency overnight, the reasoning behind this was to make their exports cheaper and more appealing ultimately leading to greater exports and decreasing their CAD. The world was not prepared for this hard landing + chinese economic slowdown, what transpired the next day (August 24th, 2015) was total madness.
As expected, there was a bloodbath on dalal street the next day. Sensex fell by 1600 points intraday!!! I almost went bankrupt and remember the panic vividly, there was chaos all around.
Moral of the story, when currency is devalued, CAD will decrease :p

AFAIK, currency devaluation increases the cost of import and will increase CAD.
You’re right. Debenture is synonymous with bond and is essentially a British term for it.
Keep working.
Things will start improving.

Secured debentures are backed by the assets and so highly secured. For the sake of understanding we can also assume government security as insecure one. Logic should be backed by good rationale. Don’t take it offensive. It is my thoughts
1st question looks wrong to me. FCCB’s are not issued through FII’s, rather, FII’s can choose to invest in FCCB’s.
Also, FCCB’s are a lot like convertible debentures as far as i know. The difference being that they are issued in foreign currency to overseas investors with an option of conversion to equity.
However, technically debentures won’t be the correct term per se. Nevertheless, in the Indian context, debentures and bonds are often used interchangeably.
Debentures may be secured (like guarantee by govt. for T.Bill) but it carries high risk and generally considered riskier and unsecured investment .
It’s not so. Debentures are also secured.
3/5
1.Convertible debentures are different from convertible bonds because debentures are unsecured; in the
event of bankruptcy, the debentures are paid after other fixed-income holders

Debenture is also a kind of bond. As far as I know bond is a general term issued by any entity whether it is private or public company, government or whatever. Debenture is bond issued by company only.
So why in question 1 , option a is not accepted as correct option?
Any idea guys?
