Born 05-03-1953, an IAS officer of Haryana cadre, Chhatar Singh has held several key positions in the state government.
Though he retired on March 31, 2013, as the Principal Secretary to Hooda, Singh managed to retain the key posts by getting re-employment under certain provisions of the Indian Administrative Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954, which had stirred a debate among the state’s bureaucrats.
He was appointed member UPSC on September 2013 and it has stirred a hornets nest with some controversies regarding his appointment.
Shri Singh had played a key role in executing various projects of the state government of Haryana.
