  15. Nice essay.. you always write good essays and specially your start is always very good.. i try and learn from you how to start essays 🙂

  16. Write name of who so ever quoted those lines..

With reference to 3rd page where you have stated that poor didn’t benefit because theyr were voiceless.. its my personal opinion that you should put it in positive frame like though many were pulled out of poverty but many could not due to leakages and etc (right now, it gives me an impression that there is total lack of accountability and transparency)

Your way of writing is good.. its simple, informative and narrative style made me feel that it was a story
But, i think you digressed from topic… U should time and again re-assert that how inequality is a shame for India.. and you completely missed 2nd part of the sentence

    Start was very good btw..
    Keep writing 🙂

Avoid words like “Ramrajya”. Why don’t you want holy Jerusalem or Mecca ?
The Qs has 2 statements. You should balance both. Your answer seems skewed to the former.
And good that focused on India. But the question isn’t India specific. Read this “In a country well governed…” => you could include apart from India, EU countries, US,
If India seems well governed, ask yourself is there poverty? Give data from Rangrajan committee, World Bank, Credit Suisse, IPFRI etc. analyse on those lines.
“In a country badly governed” => you could use countries like Syria, Kenya, other LDCs which are politically unstable but have rich gangs and terrorist organisations like ISIS, Boko. Gangs like RUF of Sierra Leone which was very rich due to diamond business. (btw Kimberley process was in news recently)

Your content is really good, and intro is awesome. I have noted your introductory line in my notes.
Better align with the flow of essay statement.

I could not write my essay bvz of my very busy schedule.. however I am not much satisfied wid Ur essay… Reasons being
    1) u need to have a balanced contrast between both type economies.
    2) carpet approach was good but u failed to relate it wid a wider aspect, u limited dat wid tribes only…
    3) Development of tribes cud be inclusive approach however there is a large mass who r in grasp of abject poverty… U need to address dm…
    4) Evolve of policy approach hw the poll speach are related to poverty In country like India like garibi hatao and India shining, sabka sath sabka Vikas where as how it differs in us, UK ….
    5) The garibi hatao of 1970 still a distant dream who z responsible…. Even as u addressed people of odisha are nt as developed as people of mh and Gujrat… Is it people fault ?? Or governance failure?
    6) elaborate Carpet approach it’s d best thing I found in Ur essay… And relate it to various aspects wid example.
    7) recent presidential debates of us where poverty eradication was not a topic bt topic were tax evasion, money laundering, rich tax and all…
    8) the 1st quote u ve mentioned can u write in exam ?? Do I blv btr to use something easy and sober one…
    Rest all fyn…
    1) Nyc use of words..
    2) Carpet approach loved it
    3)tribal example splly d second one awesome…

2.The science of today is the technology of tomorrow

“But we are convinced that if we are to play a meaningful role nationally, and in the community of nations, we must be second to none in the application of advanced technologies to the real problems of man and society.” ~ Vikram Sarabhai

Technologies have been transforming the lives of people by developing economic solutions to real world problems. But how do technologies develop and what relation do they have with science ?

Science and technologies are both inextricably linked in a seamless web of common objectives. However, there is thin of differentiation between the two. Science involves discoveries. Scientific research usually begins with a hypothesis, involves many test cases and analysis of solutions. Technology involves application of scientific discoveries in order to translate them to commercially viable products with an objective to make life easier. Hence technology is based on science and is the commercial application of it. While science is not directly applicable in daily lives, technology uses the scientific research to develop new products coupled with sound marketing strategies to bring tremendous changes in human society.

    https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/f04b91b5f1ca29c144a05758a433062e35f7a96235e9b0aa4c2d51ff4c0f7fc2.jpg

Pure sciences have been directly employed in technological developments since centuries.
The first Industrial Revolution which led to new machines, steam power, factory system was direct application of scientific discoveries such as electricity.
When Fourier, the famous scientific adviser to Napoleon was working on a mathematical tools of signal representation today acknowledged as the Fourier series, people could hardly anticipate the enormous impact it would have on the engineering world in days to come.
When discoveries and studies about magnetism were being undertaken by Bohr, Tesla people would have hardly imagined wireless technologies based on these works.
Likewise Second Industrial Revolution was based on discoveries.
The huge research on solid state physics led to electronic devices like transistors, superfast chips powering our laptops, mobile phones and computers today.
The currently emerging fourth industrial revolution based on artificial intelligence is an application of internet, robotics, electronics, electricity so on.

Vikram Sarabhai, the founder of India’s space program had envisioned this years ago when India was in it’s nascent stage as a technological power. The space program has transformed the lives across the spectrum of society. VSAT technologies have been made available to induce distant learning in remote area, NAVIC system of satellites provides navigational services, CARTOSAT maps natural resources, ScatSat provides weather forecast. Due to scientific developments by the researchers in the past, India is now the only space faring nation in South Asia, among 4 countries to have launched inter planetary mission.

Similarly researches in biology and biotechnology when applied in technological domain had led to genetic engineering – CRISPER/CAS9 is a recent example. Genetic and biomedical engineering have potential to cure hitherto fatal diseases like cancer.

Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, shared Noble Prize in Chemistry with Ada Yonath for their research on ribosomoes structure and functions. Today, as the world suffers with development of superbugs and AMR, anti-resistance antibiotics could be developed by identification of the type of relevant pathogen and unique structural features of ribosomes in each and every pathogen.

Research by food scientists led to HYV varities like IR8, superfoods which can tackle nutritional deficiencies as well as hunger. Genetically modified crops like Dhara/Varun have potential to tackle hunger.

The discovery on autophagy by Yoshinori Ohsumi which won Noble Prize’16 in Medicine can be be revolutionary. Design and synthesis of molecular machines which won Noble Prize’16 in Chemistry can transform the electronic devices by downsizing them economically to achieve great speeds and efficiency.

Quite recently, researchers at IISC, Bangalore, accomplished their research on Graphene based semiconductors devices which have potential to be super-fast in the range of Terra-bytes. If applied this can potentially transform the communication technologies to the extent that data from Mars will be transmitted in just a few seconds.

Hence, scientific researched have always transformed to technologically and commercially viable solutions after identification and analysis of problems.

Therefore, it is essential to develop science by providing adequate laboratories and funding to institutions. To transform them into commercial applications is done by technologists – entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs. START UP INDIA and STAND UP INDIA is a laudable step in this direction.
    https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/3e4aa976302a5e8cda3c97312ded0cd063c93efea66d635becb04b3f5b39add5.jpg

However there is a need of an integrated approach to promote science and technology by including all stakeholders from corporate giants to researchers. There is a need for integrated support ecosystem to develop science and technology. This is in coherence with the national goals of Make in India, Skill India etc.

With evolving revolutionary studies in medicine(autophagy, directed evolution etc), physics (gravitational waves, tautology etc), chemistry, space sciences, Science of today is indeed technology of tomorrow.

    Hi @Rashi27:disqus !
    You ave a beautiful handwriting.
Nice write up. I personally liked your examples.
one Issue – In a country badly governed, wealth is something to be ashamed of. The meaning of this sentence what you have taken is “individual shame” as cited in ROBERT CLIVE’s example.
What i think is that a country that has wealth in bad governance is shameful for the country becoz this implies the wealth generated is not regulated. and comes at the cost of exploitation of people.
We have a different view again.

    All the best

    Please review mine

  99. “one day I will also fly in the sky” seeing birds a person was thinking in his mind. In curiosity he asked many people how birds fly. Whether we can also fly. People gave many answer like- god made these birds to fly; some exceptional power birds has that’s why they are able to fly. Some related with mythology. Finally the person was not satisfied but this aim stuck into his mind forever. After completing education as a science student, he entered into research field. And he converted science into technology by making India’s first missile. Who was knowing that same person will be known as “Missile Man of India” and would be our President. Yes he is APJ Abdul Kalam.
In his book “Ignited Minds” he said that “Science is the tool to create innovative technology”.
If we analyse the science and technology though they seem to be alike but there is difference between them. Science is a knowledge about something. Whereas technology is practical application of science. For example knowing about gravity is science but launching space mission, creating aeroplanes, glider etc. based on the gravitational force is application. Similarly, knowing about force is science but using that knowledge into practical application like automobile, games, container etc. is technology. Technology derives the platform from science.
Since evolution of man-kind science and technology have played major role in survival of human Kind. In Pre-historical days, people have knowledge(science) about copper or tin or forest products. Gradually they came to know about various minerals and they find out new ways to use them. This finding out new way from existing science is basically technology. Technology does not mean that any research done in lab or closed room. Technology simply means using science in practical way or it can be said as “street smart knowledge”.
During 19th century which is called as “Renaissance Period” people came to know about various scientific information and its application was seen in various field that time and even now. It was science of that day which made European Nation technological advance and are called as developed nations.
Later in 20th century which was known for nuclear attack on Hiroshima by USA, that time no one was knowing that nuclear which is used as weapon can be used as renewable energy in future and help in mitigating Climate Change. But now due to global rise in temperature countries are demanding nuclear for civilian purpose. This is the relation between science and technology. Science exists only application differ with time. Concept of gravity, force, motion etc. was that time also but now with change in time technological application changes.
For example science of agriculture and irrigation was known since Mauryan Period but, now practicing agriculture is totally different from that time. Though we use the science of that period in terms of soil selection, crops selection or sesaon selection but now with scientific application way of doing agriculture has changed. And in future also according to need application will differ. In present scenario we talk about, Bio-technology and its application in various field like in agriculture, health, drug making etc. With the science of DNA and Gene manipulation this new technology has come. And in future may be different application come.
Our first Prime Minister also laid huge emphasis on Science. Because they knew that with the help of science new technology can be made which will prosper India. That’s why our constitution maker has placed the need of science in Fundamental duty.
But it will be parochial to think science only to physics, chemistry or biology. Science has many disciplines and each disciplines has technology which has positive impact on human lives. For example- Social science, Environmental Science, Psychological Science, Administrative Science etc. And concept like Social Audit, Environmental Audit, Good Governance, Digital Governance are the technological aspect of these science. In fields of sports also with the introduction of science players productivity has increased and new technology like Drone, cod copter etc. make game more transparent.
But it must ensure that technology derived from science should be beneficial. If any technology has detrimental impact then it must be discarded. For example weapon making science if used for war and destruction then it should be discarded or judiciously used. Similarly computer science has wide application but activities like hacking, phishing etc. undermine the importance of science.
Currently we are facing so much challenges. Foremost challenge is Global Warming. But todays science of making renewable energy with the help of Solar, Wind, Hydro can be used to make technology for future to combat climate change.
Thus it can be said, science of today is the technology of tomorrow. Because technology is the manifestation of creative use of science. If today we have digital technology or automation or Artificial intelligence then it is only the practical application of science and in future also new way of technology can be developed.

In a country well governed, poverty is something to be ashamed of. In a country badly governed, wealth is something to be ashamed of.
Epitomized by predictable open enlightened policy making; a bureaucracy imbued with professional ethos; an executable arm accountable for its action; a strong civil society participating in public affairs and all behaving under Rule of Law – World Bank on Governance.
Governance is one of the measure in evaluating the success of reforms, efficacy of political system and the need for economic and social re-look into developmental efforts. A mirror of governance is the conditions in which the most marginalized section of the country sustains. Equality in distribution of resources is another measure to understand the state of governance in a country.
Poverty and distribution of wealth are closely related to each other and are a reflection on the governance. In any country that claims good governance, high rate of poverty poses a direct question mark on its claim. Because there are certain elements to good governance apart from good will which are essential for it to deliver on its promise. These can be easily summed in the acronym CARPET. Where CARPET is short from for C – consensus based, A – Accountable, R – Responsive with Rule of Law, P – Participative, E – Equitable and efficient, T – Transparency.
Unless this CARPET is on the floor, good governance is merely a distant dream for any nation. Poverty will no longer be crisis if this approach is implemented at every level of governance.
Wealth generation via economic activity can be justified when it is not exploitative to the people and the environment of the country. Capitalistic mindset where aim is maximum profit at any cost, must be checked by government agencies. Unchecked and unregulated economic activities can give rise to sharp inequalities in the country which may seem to be on high economic growth trajectory but poor in rights based approach.
    A case study in India:
The Odisha state of western India has considerable amount of tribal population. Paraja tribe is one of main tribes in the state. To any person who visits and interacts with Paraja people, will clearly understand the dismal picture of rural poverty in a state that claims good governance. The CARPET is nowhere to be seen in the context govt. approach towards this marginalized section of people.
Paraja people are deprived of modern methods of agriculture – they still practice ancient methods of agriculture; poor health care services – high child mortality rate; no economic right – they sell their produce in 20% of market price to traders.
No participative approach can be seen from the example that govt. without seeking participation offered cattle to each household. Paraja people consider milking cow as a sinful activity and so the cattle were of no use to them.

Similarly, Dhurva tribe of Odisha till today are not been given ST status in the constitution despite of fulfilling all the criteria. Sahariya tribe of Madhya Pradesh are facing the corruption of civil servant as despite of having job cards under MGNREGA i.e. employment guarantee scheme are not given work.
This picture presents the real face of good governance claim by the state. Despite of numerous good will legislations in place like Right to Education, Tribal forest Act, PESA, Food security etc., in India the good governance is under serious criticism and such abject poverty is shameful.
On the other hand India has seventh largest GDP in the world standing at ~ 2 trillion USD. But another bitter reality is that top 1% in India own more than half of the country’s total wealth. The richest 5% own 68.6% of the country’s wealth, while the top 10% have 76.3%. At the other end of the pyramid, the poorer half jostles for 4.1% of the nation’s wealth. Sometimes it is hard to believe these numbers and come terms with it.
The idea of Rights based approach in good governance says that the state is instructed with a duty to deliver the goods and services and duty to run the political and economic system to the benefit of its citizen. But in a bad governance the prevalence of crony capitalism and vested interest take precedence over morals and ethos.
Such wealth is shameful as it gives a wrong picture of nation’s growth. The more is such wealth in a country with bad governance, the more are its resources and people being exploited. No one can believe that bonded labour is still practiced in many parts of India. A poor country is way better than wealthy nation who is badly governed.
    What should be done?
Although good governance can be a very subjective term but subjectivity is mostly exaggerated. Good governance qualifies to be called so if it promotes the CARPET approach. Governance must be rooted in these principles to move society towards greater Human development through poverty eradication, environment protection, gender equality and sustainable development.

Good governance ensures civil society plays an active role in setting priorities and making the needs of the most vulnerable people in society known. Rule of law can keep the economic activities in check and properly regulated. Willful and purposeful intervention by the state is required to implement the objectives and deliver on good governance. It is the govt. with its institutions which alone can guarantee consensus oriented participative approach and that which is responsible to local aspirations and priorities. Ensures inclusive equitable based economic and social model for development.

Good governance is often the most popular terms in developmental literature. Lack of god governance is often regarded as root cause of most of the evils in the society – Poverty and inequality undoubtedly being at the top.

  105. Science is just not a word but its the world of CURE, PRECISION, ACCURACY and its 99% of perspiration. Science shows us, what we (humanS) never imagined. Every country from their past seek something in field of science bUT India FROM HARAPPAN to VEDIC age TO Sawai Jai Singh to CV Raman has its predominant imprint over science background.
Harappan civilisation has proof of wooden Ships and seals which were found in LOTHAL in India and DILMUH in Persia. But the world knows it after hundred and thousand years after.
Similarly in 6th CENTURY BC during the time of Shatpath brahman, the sushruth and carvaka samhita’s have knowledge of advance medicines as well as plastic surgery, whose knowledge was spread after 2500years after Vedic time.
There are many inventions and scientist in the world in general and India in specific. The World have seen the Scientist like Michael faraday, Albert Einstein, CV Raman and many other whose inventions later become a Source of Knowledge and breeder of Ideas in this whole world.
These scientists change the technology from zero to infinity . The faraday’s law gives magnetic induction whose application gives electricity to the unlighten village through the generator. Albert Einstein predicts GRAVITATIONAL WAVES in 1916.Gravitational waves are ‘ripples’ in the fabric of space-time caused by some of the most violent and energetic processes in the Universe.
LIGO’S experiment and India’s INDIgO PROJECT is nothing but a gift from old Scientist, whose never-ending experiment live after hundreds of years after their experiments.
In agricultural development, India has interesting history because India during Harappan times knows “HOW TO GROW RICE and other grains. Later in Cholas time the kingdom have EXIM trade with Romans in commodities mainly consist of BLACK PEPPER AND IN RETURN THEY GOT Ship full of gold. This period shows the PLANTATION agriculture.
After bronze dancing girl found in Harappa after 200 years CHOLA’a, “LOST WAX” technique makes people believe that the perfection and accuracy needed is already there in ART n CULTURE in India. England’s most demanding “MADAME TUSSAUD MUSEUM” which consist of wax statues was aligned after India’s heritage CHOLA ARTIFACTS.
India’s PanchaBHOOTA had already provided a knowledge of all the sphere of life . Like in today’s world, we call it hydrosphere, atmosphere, biosphere, lithosphere and later Our influence Anthroposhphere. The knowledge of all had already given in PANCHATANTRA in form of PRITHVI, VAYU, JAL, AGNI AND AKASH. These are the basic of all cosmic creations and known by all brahmans in Hinduism since 300 B.C.
DEFENCE Technology like Ballistic missile defence system, scorpene submarine and a fighter jet was already known by people living in India. The sacred book of Hinduism “Geeta” have knowledge of ballistic missiles, which was known as BRAMHAASTRA, which is nothing but a NUCLEAR WARHEAD BALLISTIC MISSILES. Many foreign scientists have made its application and make defence system based on our history or historical books.
In the field of education, India makes its presence visible from early VEDIC age to BUDDHA’S AGE TO NOW. guru shishya parmapara and Ashram param para develop in India. But now World’s most develop institutions like OXFORDS, MIT, IIM, IIT and IIIT bringS guru-shishya param para in their campus, where they studied and accommodation on campus only. India have an astounded history related to the educational system where worlds first university established i,e.Nalanda University, primarily a Buddhist monastery that worked as a university, was set up at the then Maghada (now Bihar). The old university site still lies in rubble around 95 kilometres south-east Patna UP.Huan Tsang ,Itsing are the foreigner who studied in this university.
Now India needs to go into the past and reinvent its Science background. The IPR(intellectual property rights ) nowadays help to protect Indian older inventions like the use of NEEM, ASHWAGANDHA, etc in medicinal preparation.India’s IPR policy 2016 may safeguard our ancient knowledge of science and technology.
India’s AYUSH is the leading example of the revival of Indian medicinal inventions and providing it with separate ministry can make a difference. And a most healthy exercise in the WORLD to get recognition BY un- AS INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA.
PATANJALI’S YOGASUTRA spread across all the globe and meditation helped people stress-free and stay motivated.
The World is now facing a multiple-crisis like poverty, climate change, food security, terrorism and strangled with this crisis , people across the globe have seened the technological innovation which changed desertic nation like Israel changed into a green nation by adopting sustainable agriculture theme.
Sustainable irrigation method like sprinkler and drop irrigations which ensures maximum efficiency in irrigation was practised by Indian tribes in Northeast Indian tribes using bamboo sticks. National action plan for climate change aligned with this technology with many sub plans and semi-annual plans.
India;s Department of science and technology have invited students for noble price series exhibition at science city Ahmedabad and Our PM talked about 9 Nobel laureates of India.Women scientist program by DST is one of the most impressive task by dst ynder which female scientist takes part.
Mega Facilities for Basic ResearchInnovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) programmeR&D Infrastructure (FIST, SAIFs, PURSE)Science and Technology of Yoga and Meditation (SATYAM)Programme for Science StudentsSwarnajayanti FellowshipsNational Science & Technology Management Information System (NSTMIS)Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB)Cognitive Science Research Initiative (CSRI)Impacting Research Innovation and Technology (IMPRINT )VAJRA (Visiting Advanced Joint Research) Faculty Scheme are the Model PLANS AND PROGRAMMES TO AGAIN REACH THE HEIGHT , WHAT India deserve.
India is the fastest growing nation in the world in economic term but stays backwards in Science and technological inventions.INDIA NEEDS to learn from it past science to make future netter and Policy invention and bureaucratic barrier need to be addresed . Funding procedure and its part in budget allocation needs to enhance and Scientist should be paid according to their efficiency and and cradibility.

  119. These lines come from one of the world’s most influential philosophers and educators—Confucius.Coming from a third world country, I can say that the Philippines has all the reason to be ashamed of its wealth and necessities. But coming from a third world country also entails the presence of poverty-stricken areas and serious social deficiencies. I’m not saying the Philippines is badly governed, nor is it well governed. Only that, it is a country with both poor and flourishing phases. It is a country which promotes anti-poverty programs, but the citizens themselves are drowned in the tides of infertility.

It all started with a huge appetite—a desire to know what’s in store for the people. I would usually stroll down the streets of Iloilo and go to the nearby mall to buy some food. On the way, I meet these street children. Parentless. Unsecured. Hungry. And then I give them a piece of my food and a few centavos to help sustain their health.

It all started with a huge appetite—a yearning to find out how my fellow Filipinos are doing by the roadsides. As I walk along the streets, I see these migrants living as squatters. Dwelling in crowded areas. Lacking clean water. Surviving without electricity. And then I think, how hard can life get for these people? What little can I do to help them? What is the Philippine government doing to end poverty?

The Philippines has always been referred to as a third world country. Not only is it industrially weak, but also less developed. Its desire to become a progressive and successful country is thrown to waste. The Philippine government lacks the drive to fully eradicate poverty. There have been a number of government programs implemented and aimed towards ending this inhumane activity. One of this has to be President Benigno Aquino III’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps through the efforts of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). It is a poverty reduction and social development strategy of the national government that conditionally provides cash to extremely poor households. This way, people will be able to improve their health, nutrition, and education. The 4Ps is associated with the services offered by the federal programs of the United States of America. Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) provides short-term cash for unemployed adults with children. Supplemental Security Income (SSI), on the other hand, provides extra income to poor people who are elderly, or have disabilities.

Social assistance and social development; these two are the main objectives of the president’s implementation. It aims to provide families with cash assistance to alleviate their immediate needs and to break the inter-generational poverty cycle through investments in human capital. Eligible households include a pregnant woman and/or children 0-14 years old. These households receive cash amounting to five hundred pesos to one thousand four hundred pesos per month. Another government initiative upheld to further lessen poverty-stricken areas in the Philippines is the DSWD Convergence Strategy. Here, poor families are given financial access to social infrastructures. Transformative inclusion, accountability, and building social capital are among the benefits of poor communities. Promotive entrepreneurship and wealth creation are subgroups of guaranteed employment for poor but economically active communities. The poorest households receive prevention, protection, and investments in human capital. Health and education are secured for households under this category.

Statistics show that 1 out of every 4 Filipinos is poor, making 24.9% of the Philippines’ population poverty-affected. That makes me one among the three remaining who are fortunate enough not to be called poor. The fishermen, the children, the farmers, the women, and the self-employed. They are the primary targets of poverty. They contribute to higher poverty incidences than the rest of the general population. It is sad to know that poverty has been an existing perennial problem faced by almost all administrations in the Philippines. It has become, not a problem of living, but instead a way of living. People get used to being poor and therefore, accept being poor as a means of livelihood. This is ultimate violence. A crime people commit. A crime people do. A crime which offends people in return. As Mahatma Gandhi would quote, “Poverty is the worst form of violence.”

Innocent minds unnerving from hungriness. Craving for opulence to sustain insatiableness
World’s resembling profound reality. Many young hearts die of poverty.

Only when I searched about poverty did I stumble upon this stanza from Eureka Bianzon’s “Victim Of Poverty & Starvation”. The poor people are the innocent minds. The poor people are the young hearts. The young and innocent are the victims of starvation and poverty. To further determine who the victims are, and where they are to be found, the Philippine government initiated the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR). It is an information management system that identifies who and where the poor are, nationwide—giving a face to poverty statistics. These statistics become the reference in identifying potential beneficiaries of social protection programs and services.

It all started with a huge appetite. I saw the faces of the street children. I felt the pain going on in the stomach of the elderly woman I saw as I went to the mall. They long for bits of food and clean water to nurture their selves with. Like them, I am hungry: only for a different thing. I am hungry for justice. I am hungry for their rights to establish a stable living and a good condition. Their plates lay empty, and their stomachs echo for cravings. Cravings unsatisfied. Cravings left on the table they don’t even have.

Exercising the oversight functions in the incorporation of anti-poverty programs and strategies in the government’s development plans is the core goal of the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC). It focuses on the institutionalizing of basic sector participation in the formulation, implementation, and monitoring of anti-poverty policies. Trainers on financial literacy are distributed nationwide to disseminate basic knowledge on micro-financial services. These opportunities open a wider scope of poverty reduction programs; That is education.

There are very clear relationships between education and poverty reduction. Often times, the poor and marginalized are the ones deprived of their rights to learn and be educated. They are the ones most prone to poor environmental and socio-economic conditions. In the Philippines, 1 out of 6 will not go to school. Furthermore, only 7 out 10 kids will complete elementary schooling. Of the 7 kids, only 4 will complete secondary education, and of the 4, 1 will proceed to a university. The Philippine Education For All (EFA) 2015 National Action Plan is the basic education blueprint of the country. Since poverty is defined as a complex and multi-dimensional problem which limits the people of their access to education, finance, substance and sources, the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) address the very extreme deprivation of human activities in every dimension. The first and primary goal in the Philippines is to eradicate extreme hunger and poverty. With the advancements and programs on poverty reduction in the country, will there be a great decrease in the number of poor households?

Poverty eradication is undoubtedly the greatest global challenge facing the world today. It is an indispensable requirement for sustainable development in every country. Although it remains one of the international goals of the global community, it also remains the most overriding issue in the international level. This is why the Philippines aims to expand the 4Ps beneficiaries and strengthen the Poverty Reduction Convergence Initiatives. The NHTS-PR will also be upgraded by using updated poverty statistics for the next household assessment. Finally, increased inter-operability will be practiced in relation to information systems.

Perhaps, it all started with a huge appetite—the tenacity to once and for all erase poverty in the face of the world. The Philippines is a third world developing country, and the Philippine government is taking actions in eradicating poverty and improving the Filipino lifestyle. It is a country hungry for progress and success. In a poverty-stricken area, dinner is served in trash cans. But in a country geared towards eliminating small-scale poverty, hope is served in trash cans. Hope that one day, poverty will flourish in our past and will forever be forgotten. Let those dinner plates not be filled with sorrow and desperation. The Millennium Development Goals will be within our reach, and will definitely be reached. Once that happens, it will be a brighter tomorrow.

Tomorrow. Tomorrow, it will all start with a huge appetite. I will stroll down the streets of Iloilo and will no longer see sad faces and feel empty stomachs. I will offer a piece of my bread. I will give my bottled water worth fifteen pesos. Then there will be happy families: no street children, no poor elderly women. Just pure happiness in the eyes of the people.

The Filipino spirit is indeed a spirit with huge appetite. We may not see it now, but there’s a bright future waiting. A future where happiness is guaranteed, and poverty is isolated. Let our stomachs be fed. Albert Einsein once said, “An empty stomach is not a good political

  121. “SCIENCE KNOWS NO BOUNDRY BECAUSE KNOWLEDGE BELONGS TO HUMANITY AND IS THE TORCH WHICH ILLUMINATES THE WORLD these are the words of world famous scientist LOUIS PASTURE.”
scientific ideas, thoughts are backbone for human civilisation’s advancement and progress.from the discovery of fire to wheel or invention of nuclear fusion and nuclear fission.if NEWTON hadnt questioned the falling of apple downwards we wouldnt have got the knowledge of gravity and its role in earth.
AS “EISNTEIN says SCIENCE OF TODAY S TECHNOLOGY OF TOMORROW”science is fundamentally alteriing the way of life of people in todays tech savy world.scientific inventions of past like electricity, railway engines, navigation instruments have made life of people easy.with these inventions humans today can travel at speed of 300km/hr in bullet trains, keep production of goods and provide services 24/7 and navigate in international waters in cruises and conduct naval operations through air craft carriers and submarines.
scientific inventions have revolutionised healthcare system by giving medical scientist and doctors around the globe to gather information, data and come on logical conclusion and treat the patient and provide preventive measures.life expectancy has increased to large extant.from simple eye operations to heart transplant surgeries science and technology have played a great role in healthcare sector by increasijng lifelines of people.
defence technology right from shooting of bows and arrows to BRAHMASTRA in satyug to shooting intercontinental ballistic missle eg is AGNI missile to our very own nuclear BRAHMOS nuclear missle technology has improved by leaps and bounds according to changing times and in turn changing the nature of war.it is not far away that world would be engaged in CYBERSPACE WARS,SPACE WARS.research and development in armed forces is also helped in civilian areas for eg nuclear radioation is used in cancer radiation treatment.UAV’S like drones which was 1st used by AMERICAN FORCES IN AFGHANISTAN to fight against terror networks is now being used to prove internet connectivity to remote areas,GIS MAPPING,DISASTER SURVEYS.HIROSHIMA AND NAGASAKI made nuclear word the most dreaded but our scientist have invented ways and means to harness this natural material to provide power to our energy hungry globe.

from gurukul system in satyug to MASSIVE OPEN ONLINE COURSES THROUGH internet technology has come to aid and rescue of millions of children who are deprived of proper education material, with just click of button 1000 number of quality of education material are available at affordable rates for children.
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ARE BOON to human life.any coutry which does not promote scientific thinking and invests in R&D lags behind in development.INDIA in its FUNDAMENTAL DUTIES HAVE inserted clause to promote SCIENTIFIC THINKING in people and this has been achieved to great extent which can be seen in ISRO’S MISSION.ISRO is only few space agencies who have reahed mars, moon and that to at cheap rates.our IITS AND IISC are world class research institutions which can compete globally.
from food deficit INDIA IS food surplus country which is in leading race in food products exports thanks to green revolution which helped india in achienving this.it was possible beacuse of technology in genetic engineering.technology has much role to play in increasing the shelf life of food products, reducing pest attacks etc.
though technology has helped the humans in achievnig progress by leaps and bounds these technology if falling into wrong hands can prove fatal.springing of missiles,AK-47 and other arms have led to emergence of militant groups around the globe.from middle east that is syria and iraq to india militants have acquired these weapons of mass destruction and have killed 1000 of people to procalaim supremacy.
nuclear technology have led countris to develop nuclear weapons which have capability of wipe human race from globe.
penetration of internet have led to massive crimes operated by organised cyber criminals around the world which have the capability to intrude into even bank accont details and take out money.internet has made the world from information scarscity to abundant information just at click of button.though this is good it also has negative consequencies like people getting addicted to online sites,JIHADIST GROUPS LIKE ISIS RECRUITMING people on large scale just by chatting with them online on networking apps.militant cross over to india from pakistan with aid and help of GOOGLE MAPS.drones which are useful are also used for advers activities like spying of other countries, transporting weapons etc
science is not only about thoughts but its applications in various fields impacting common day to day activities of common man.in science every discovery can be permenent gain but only if its used for betterment of human society
