T Jacob, IAS, is appointed as the Secretary of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
Last month, President Pranab Mukherjee had appointed Professor David R Syiemlieh, a member of the commission in Meghalaya, as the President of the UPSC. Syiemlieh had succeeded Alka Sirohi.

About T Jacob
The new UPSC Secretary is a 1984 batch cadre IAS officer from Tamil Nadu. Jacob was earlier working as the Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training.
