It's being increasingly difficult for me to study in isolation. Also I feel if I am unable to control my frequent login on Forum as also visiting various thread, is it really feasible for me to study in isolation which demands even stricter self control? To successfully execute the latter which requires higher self discipline I must learn first to successfully practice the former. Is my analogy right? Can anyone here help me in subsiding my confusion?@Vinay12 @Mauraisles @Luna Lovegood and others as well
Oh! you are not alone... I too had that problem i overcame it by using some apps in mobile like Forest, FocusME (block specific sites and apps),LeechBlock – set time limits on distracting sites, Freedom – lock up the internet.
"Practice makes a man perfect".
Self control have to be achieved by step by step. 1st day set a goal for not entering internet for an hour then increase it half an hour everyday.
Between "short" study breaks I used to visit internet for relaxation, instead of that , now I'm boiling water to drink like tea. you can try some other physical exercise.
I don't know if i make my point clear. I hope you find your own way of dealing with distractions like i did

Today targets.
Revision of entire week+ incomplete targets +1 essay.
I am able to study on average around 7 hours in a day. However, I see from most toppers' claims and coaching websites references that atleast 8-10 hours of daily study is required to clear this exam. What is your opinion on this? Till what extent is this true? How many hours do each of you study in a day? Please post your hours, mentioning if you are preparing full time or doing it along with a job like Vinay12. I am preparing for this exam full time.
Im not sure time about studying atleast 8-10 hrs a day. Im a full time aspirant. Ill study by fixing some goals for the day to complete rather than the constant hour to complete. My usual day slot be like
Early morning - 2 hours
After break - 1 hour
After break- 2 hours
Afternoon - 2 hours(sometimes 1 hour)
Evening - 2 hours.
Night - 1 hour revision
I prefer more suitable approach for me to best strategy ever known by toppers.
Do you complete all the targets everyday? Apart from that how much do you cover of a given topic in a day? For example, in modern india or culture, how many chapters do you cover of a given book? Please list it just for today, for reference so that I can estimate how much you study in a day.
Managerial functions - 5 chapters ( its not tough for me)
Financial management - dont have any least knowledge + accounting - 5 sums a day ( learning basics everyday w/o mentioning)
Modern history - tribal uprisings civil rebellion , ( yet to start) peasant movement, foundation of congress
Art and culture - ncert 1,2 chapter ( yet to start)
If i study ncert, ill read 3 chapters in a day. If i study gs ill go by 1 broad topic per day. If i study optional(6 subjects each paper), ill try to finish a subject in a week. Or if im lazy to study any hard topic in a day. Ill collect relatable data(examples, facts, quotes, current affairs explained/ diagram)for gs and optional subjects.
Even if i dont mention other subjects in my target, if i feel like studying , ill study it even with original targets. Thats why i didnt mention completion of targets every day.
I'll upload the portion of completion by end of the month.
