Brother, telling my experience. In first attempt I made daily notes of newspaper for both Pre and mans. Ended up spending 3 hours around in note making . In the end  lost interest, and went for vision monthly.

Pros of so much note making

- you feel confident

- studying is on track with daily habit of studying

- you are aware of day to day happenings

- feel confident in preparation

Cons

- too much time taking

- as beginner you end up noting everything

- you realise at least half part of notes that you make is not useful for prelims or even mains

- you still have to do one magazine at the end.

This is something that you realise after writing Mains only that what is important and what is not.

So you can decide your own strategy based on what I have shared here.

one thing I will say, at least read the newspaper daily. There are people who go for extremes - no newspaper reading vs elaborate note making. Whatever you choose, I will say that read the newspaper. It helps a lot in keeping one confident. And it is a good habit to cultivate , that provides us the anchor in our preparation.

@TwoFace thanks bro.......... but as we read newspaper i felt that whatever i read  weeks before i tend to forget that ......... so is it okay ??? anything i can do for revision or revising monthlies will suffice ???

See, for this Mains, I have done some scribbling just to get some keywords or data points. And you will forget things over a point of time, but that is okay. On the other hand, you will also realise that monthly magazine covers more than what you read in newspaper.

And it is okay to forget. If you leave it completely then your confidence will fall. So in my opinion, it is better to keep reading the newspaper.

This year in prelims I realize relying on monthly magazine was  a bad decision. Monthly magazine will touch the topic asked in Prelims exam but not the point which was mentioned in the article. So reading newspaper and noting down the factual point is the best decision. Use magazine as 2nd option to cover the topic you might have skipped or kind of revision as monthly magazine comes after 7-10 day gap.

@Tarkikyogi bro...... you put me in a dilemma, but thanks for sharing your views on this, I simply found out that whatever I do I can't complete current affairs preparation whatever tit-bits I have I should continue with them ??? but something has to be there to find out how much to do and from which sources that will suffice even not completely satisfy......... like I have read many blogs and its clear that no one is completely prepared for the exam even the topper itself but still they top ......... If there is a kind of potion they have I also need one { in reality there is nothing like a potion for success } but there is something which we follow like the current affair preparation from whatever sources we do it should be in our head { can be revised easily } otherwise we end up wasting an attempt kinda finding a way how should I place the pieces that it will go the right way, still finding out ............
