Completely agree with what you said. I guess I stretched livestock emission a bit too far, it holds good for agriculture majorly.  The concluding point was regarding the wrong focus towards the sources of GHG i.e. fossil fuels. It hurts when you see yourself having so much of a carbon footprint even when you try to minimise it.

Minimising carbon footprint is actually really difficult when you actually start to look into it. I remember reading a while ago how internet streaming also adds to carbon footprints, and it broke my heart a little being asked to choose between mindless YouTubing or environmentalism

Not in CSE 2019, but that was also the case across optionals. In CSE 2017 the highest was 340+ in Hindi Literature if I remember correctly.

All the best for this year!

2018, it was -  344

"This year" has to be 2021 not 2020 :P, flunked prelims

Oh, right - that's a very high score!

Haha no problem, that's why I worded it a bit ambiguously. All the best!

@babu_bisleri bhai how reservation is related to this case .Do we need to bring caste and reservation everywhere?
I thought it’s lack of strong value system ( I even didn’t considerd reservation and caste  as an angle)

324 Marks in CSE 2018.

Han maine bhi dekha tha ye but I didn't consider his example because of sooo many attempts. His first attempt was in 2011 and got this score 2018. Obviously he is great guy, but this is not the example I want to follow.

Though his approach is awesome 😊

Does anyone have a book or pdf on Great Indian Personalities? Any collection?

P.S: Not asking for any coaching reference material.

There is a book by Ramchandra Guha called "Makers of modern India ". Its a good read. But it has only historical personalities of freedom struggle.

Don't know if that will intrest you.Baki random pdfs can be found anywhere.

If you have it in pdf or any ebook format, can you please send it to me.

yaad hai wo pal..jab padhaai kiya karte the...mocks lagaaya karte the..memes se dur rehte the....

Uski yaad mein ekaat question solve karo yeh lo :D

I remember reading somewhere that Arunachal (especially Namdapha NP) has all broad types of vegetation - temperate, tropical, deciduous, alpine, coniferous, and even shrubs. So 3 which sounds most doubtful is yes. 1 & 2 are general hi. And 4 is extreme statement so no. Answer C.

But, since answer dekh liya hai, toh maybe this is retrospective reasoning :P

Whenever you feel like your parents do not appreciate you enough, always remember that a guy named Arthur had it worse.

Just googled him. If this is what his mom had to say about his oversmartness I wanna know what she said about his haircut 🤣

Lol that is the haircut one goes for, when one is called theFather of Pessimism.

C?

I didn't solution was already posted. One could've eliminated 4th statement as scrub forest would be hard to found in Andaman and Lakshadweep. Also, their small size makes it all possible.

Apart from this, I had a carbon emission doubt for the past one year. It is related to a video posted just now.

When we say plant or animal emitting carbon, isn't it a bit of a misnomer? Since they used up CO2 present in the air to build up their biomass, eventually, that is being released into the air. So, no net addition. Whereas, if you look at fossil fuels you're introducing new carbon from deep down the earth surface into the air. You're actually adding the carbon here. Emission by plants and animals is just a part of the self-sustaining carbon cycle.

For all those who will be disputing that biomass isn't made up of CO2 present in air, you're wrong :p Biomass isn't created from soil.

I don’t think it’s simple to say that biomass is created from CO2. Biomass is also made to a large extent from food and nutrients that are consumed, so it’s not net zero addition. I’m by no means an expert on environment issues so this is just my common sense talking

Check the link I've shared above. It is from the air carbon. Else show the proof of plants getting their mass from soil and nutrients. :)

I’m pretty sure plants don’t require soil to grow, they just need any medium to anchor (hydroponics is pretty well known for that), but they do need nutrients to grow is also a fact. Because if that’s not the case, I would like to sue my plants who need ten million micronutrients to keep growing

So what do these nutrients do if not help in growing?

Exactly what micronutrients like vitamins, zinc, iron does to your body. Do they make up your structure or mass, no. But they perform some essentials functions in cells and the overall body.

https://agrilifeextension.tamu.edu/library/gardening/essential-nutrients-for-plants/

Some nutrients like phosphorus actively promote root growth, it might be indirect but it still influences. But I get your point. And I do agree burning of fossil fuels and the need for alternate fuels is an important issue that is often overlooked, especially in the west. But as@whatonly pointed out, there also needs to be debate over the massive livestock industry as polluters as well

You're confusing between things required for growth and things that gives weight to the plant.

Also, the guy wrote an entire book "On Women" to try to paint them as inferior, all because he couldn't get laid.

Or maybe it was his mom which led to this? Nah, too Freudian, perhaps.

How I see it is that there is a lot of intolerance, violent tendencies, anger, frustration etc in the society.

Humans have never known to be devoid of these vices, but I see so many incidents of violence of all kind for trivial issues and it is really hurtful to watch.

People in general have lost patience. One moment of anger can ruin so many lives.

Not just in India but overall. These are times when  one thinks about Gandhi's ideas of non violence.

This is really sad.

On the matters concerning Randeep Hooda and #metoo , I have something different to offer on table . First of all Randeep Hooda , was he said was 9 years ago and I agree he might be a chnaged person now but does that make a less crime (too heavy word) now. He is not given a major punishment as well – he is just removed from the position because he did a mistake and it would set a precedent for these ‘personalities’ to be careful when they speak because afterall they are ‘influencers’ – influencing society – its laudable people are pointing it out and laudable somebody did something to make a point. Same with #metoo- one that people should realise they did mistake and secondly women should find some solace. It takes a lot from women to come out and speak – earlier they didn’t got those oppurtunities so didn’t speak but they got now. But yeah rule of law should be duly followed – I don’t support twitter bashing.

On Sushil kumar – its purely a case of remaining relevant and supreme for all the times- the human ego. He wouldn’t have done it if his ego was not hurt.

I thought it’s lack of strong value system ( I even didn’t considerd reservation and caste  as an angle)

In North India, caste power politics has its backing on Green Revolution and Mandal Commission, which gave them Economic and Political Power. Already Having Social Power through their own rules in village. Community show off is still prominent here. If some one found guilty among the community, he/she is automatically turn into hero. Not only this Intra community struggle is also huge problem, usually you we see news that for property, a whole family cleaned up.You cant control someone who is Economically powerful, holds political power and makes rules in the society followed by own.

Value system comes from "society" we live in. it is very hard to find a person who is not following the ethics of the society he lives in.  Over the period of time own morals gets aligned with that of society.

I have nothing against anyone or reservation concept as whole but making someone powerful enough despite already having resources is not fair. Also the green revolution results have proved detrimental in the long term where dependency on land has increased so much. ( Reduced in Haryana due to Pvt sector intervention in last 10-15 years with industry coming to areas like Bawal, Sohna etc. This should ensure more equitable growth for non land based people, In Punjab however it is still quite prominent)

Jai Shree Ram !
