Factoids for Prelims 2020

Hi,

Ranyo Ashoka, Himalayan nettle, Denisovan - Who would have thought of such random questions?

Creating this thread with the sole purpose of sharing facts that can be relevant for Prelims. While there is always this thought, that there is no end to learning and mugging up facts, but if we observe closely - the options are not very close and elimination is easy. By pooling our resources here, if we give it one reading also, the probability of retaining it on the D day and eliminating options increases exponentially.

I request the aspirants to actively contribute here and let's hope that we strike gold on 31st ;).

Thanks for this, Did not know. And also similar to PCA, RBI has Supervisory Action Framework(SAF) for cooperative banks.

  • Addition of iodine to salt/ Vitamin A to Vanaspati are mandatory requirements. Accordingly, they shall not use +F Logo.
  • Fortification of salt is mandatory only for traditional white salt (common salt), and not for rock salt, pink salt, black salt etc.
  • Double Fortification of salt refers to fortification with iodine and iron. Iron fortification is voluntary.

"Forest Cover" is not a criteria in 15th Finance Commission Report. It has been replaced by "Forest and Ecology." This new criteria has been arrived at by calculating the share of dense forest of a particular state in aggregate dense forests of all states put together.

For those "Which of the following are criteria" questions.

Variankunnath Kunjahammad HajiSithi Koya Thangal and Ali Musliyar were the three prominent rebel leaders of the Mappila Rebellion in the Malabar.

Relevant because it's been exactly 100 years since Gandhi's visit to the Malabar and there's been serious controversy on the issue in Kerala lately.
