Hello All,
Today at9:30 PM, Friday March 27, 2020,we will be holding a LIVE online session for all ForumIAS Members who are appearing for Prelims 2020.
This is a re-orientation session, and a follow up for most people who have attended the Offline Session held for some RLG Students.
The Session will be LIVE in this page itself.
Please ask your questions in comments below so that we can take it up in the Video Session. People who are following SFG and Simulators are requested to watch it for and put questions here, in case they need any assistance.
1. With the Simulators approaching how to deal with current affairs?(since Current Affairs classes have also been suspended)
2. Can the complete notes be updates on the portal for Current Affairs students?
3. Test-taking strategy for online and offline is different? How do we cope up with that since the exam will be in offline mode?
4. Should the SFG students also focus on the SPECIAL FOCUS CHAPTER test(given as a BONUS with the simulator tests) or they can focus on it after completion of the SFG program?
Hi Forum Team,
First of all thanks for continuing this program.
1. I am observing that i am able to finish my test in 40 minutes wherever i use to take the full 1hr in offline mode. So, Is it happening with everybody or i am being casual in online mode and in my home setting.
2. What should be my strategy for Econ in the coming test, coz usually prelims is mainly Current based in Econ.
Thanks a lot.
1. i am doing sfg only as of now and no other test series. but i am planning for simulator tests. will that be sufficient?
2. if possible can anupan jain sir take some online class for eco survey and budget. just like the live session u are taking.
3. how to approach previous year questions.? what shall be the strategy while doing sfg.
I've a query regarding my preparation in geography. In geography subject I've noticed a pattern that I'm making silly mistakes. Generally the question which become incorrect are the ones i was a little sure about and the questions which i generally flag and i answer them by my guess are correct. Sometimes the questions become wrong bcz i forget something at the moment and sometimes bcz i get confused in basic topics. I can't identify what is this problem and how to work on it. Please help if you can.
1. Would you recommend to go through ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) exploration sites (i.e. Locations, specialities, rulers, rivers nearby)? Is it collated somewhere in the compilations (Forum or others)?
2. Will PRS Annual Review be helpful? Important ones are usually covered in Monthly compilations so might be redundant?
3. As a SFG student, will it be better to join Simulator series or another coaching's Full Length Series? Intention is purely to get a different flavour of questions asked in the tests.
4. Will there be Subject wise revision tests for SFG? It was conducted in last year's SFG (was hopeful that it'd happen this year too).
5. SPECIAL FOCUS TESTs : It wasn't mentioned earlier in the Simulator schedule. Is it only for people who enrol for Simulator tests? For SFG students?
6. Is there any URL where errata of Factly is posted? I did notice few errors here and there and did mail them to the content team but didn't get any response.
Also, I am extremely grateful to the entire team for SFG program. It provided me with the extra push I needed to stick to schedule. Loved the idea of including CA tests in the schedule. Big fan of Factly. I hope I make you guys proud too. :)
1- Is it useful to do Current affairs from 2-3 institutes or just 1 would suffice ?
2- Should physical geography be done from any other source given that most PYQs could be solved by NCERT ?
3- How many full length tests should be done ideally ?
4- How should environment be approached ? Would ShankarIAS and CA suffice ?
After writing the tests , I found some of my weak topics . Should i prepare them after the completion of SFG ?
Plus please add more environment and current geography ( like new ramsar sites , tiger reserves , national parks) type questions instead of just polity and economy . UPSC asks a lot of questions on environment and current geography .
Should Shankar Was for environment be read line by line ? or should we pay more attention on current affairs for environment ?
How to reduce the negative marking in exam? Since, the nature of exam is such that around 40 intelligent guesses need to be made, at times elimination techniques doesnt work. What is the way out?
I have figured out reason for my negatives which is that I am able to eliminate two options but somehow with remaining two I end up marking the wrong answer. Since, attempt has to be above 80 or 85, Negatives are bringing down cumulative marks below. And if we dont mark such Questions, chances become more bleak.
Hi Team,
Thank you for this.
1. There are enough things: Sfg daily tests, Simulator tests, Focus chapter tests, Market QPs, Revising the syllabus again, etc. Can you touch upon what the strategy for the next two months should be?
2. Regarding Current Affairs: There have been 3 prelims focused classes. I have very high expectations from Dipin sir's classes. Do we still believe that these reduced classes are sufficient for Prelims 2020? At this point in time, multiple sources for Current affairs too will take time. Can you talk about a comprehensive plan on CA?
3. Will we have video lessons on Economic Survey, please? This is important
Thanks,
Abhishek
Sir, kindly help with the following doubts:
1. How to utilise previous years paper at this juncture? I have solved last 10 years questions but not at the level which Neyawn mentioned whereby I can be sure that this is a PYQ. So what all to look for in previous year paper at this moment.
2. How to devise a revision timetable. I keep on feeling that I am forgetting everything so not able to make an effective revision plan.
3. At this moment, while attempting tests I am still learning lots from even the questions I am getting correct. This increases the urge to study more new things and attempt newer questions but I feel like I am not revising what I have read enough. So how to balance the new things to be covered and whatever needs to be revised because both seem overwhelming.
PS. This is going to be my first attempt.
1. Given the paucity of time due to daily tests i have been unable to thoroughly analyse daily tests. How do you suggest to go forward in the remaining weeks?
2. What should be the approach to analyse PYQP so that we can streamline our studies according to it? Please suggest Key focus points while going through them.
3. Is Factly enough for current affairs? Please provide some extra notes or sources for comprehensively covering them.
4. Please help out with Economic survey.
