Mai soch raha tha ki river interlinking kyo nahi aaya gs 1 me aur demonetisation kyo nahi aaya gs3 me ....aaj pata chala UPSC ne SOCIOLOGY P2 ke liye bacha ke raha tha......

We can expect 900 intake for PERSONALITY TEST from general category

I hv attempted only 800 marks out of 1000 marks of GS papers, but only hope is that CONTENT was not compromised in any question
In optional( socio) I attempted 450/500 again 50 marks less attempt but content was there in all the answers

Essay was good ( individual, South asia )

Now it is very difficult for me bcz i hv left 250 marks without attempting, it is equal to one GS paper,
Only MIRACLE can help to get call for Personality test.

On the basis of GS and optional papers difficulty level and their ambiguity in understanding my feeling is that average marks will be reduced
GS1- 10 marks
GS 2 - 25 marks
GS 3 - 15 marks
GS 4 - 10 marks

Total 60 but let's take 50 as average marks reduction in GS papers only

Now let's talk about optional

Most scoring papers like mathematics was difficult and even all optional papers were difficult this year
So I consider 30 marks reduction in optional papers

So total 50+30= 80 marks variation

What I feel final cutoff for general will not cross 710 for general , thus those candidates who are getting 700 plus should prepare for interview

In past year GS papers had key words like CRITICALLY EXAMINE, EXAMINE, CRITICALLY ANALYSE so aspirants used to write intro, positive , negative and way forward .....this year no directive like CRITICALLY EXAMINE , so many students faced problems to diversify their answers. ....those who were depend on vision 365 may have faced problem bcz all topics in vision has ...positive, negative, way forward

What I felt that those aspirants write in paragraph may get advantage this year bcz questions were discussion oriented

Finally guys be confident if u r near 700 plus ( general category )

last year marks difference between 1st rank and 100th rank is 100 marks ....my analysis is on the basis of difficulty level of all papers

there will be 20-30 people in all category who will do exceptionally well this year too...but most of the aspirants will get average marks .....

importantly this year we have 90 extra vacancy

last year only 33 aspirants had 870 plus marks in written and all papers were moderate

if i go with ur method then last year aspirants got 110 plus marks per paper but i think per paper difficulty consideration is good instead of overall marks .....btw its my own analysis ...it may hv validity error

agar aap GS 1 dekho etna easy nahi tha, GS2 me 4-5 questions to aise the ki question ki demand hi nahi samajh nahi aai hai logo ko, GS 3 me bhi question diffrently punchha upsc ne, GS 4 me 3 case study( last case study aur 2 case study polics vs civil servant ) difficult thi
jabki last year questions expected line me the, kai logo ne GS3me 145-150 tak score kiya

maine 20-25 logo se baat kiya jisne mains diya ....sabhi ka GS average hai aur optional me PAPER 2 sabhi ka disturb hai

baaki UPSC ki marking pattern aur answer ke CONTENT pe depend karta hai

I wrote about power of attorney general, salary, who appoints ....extra I wrote about two cases where attorney general was defending government. ......fist case in right to privacy AG was defending AADHAR mandatory for linkage with Sims second case was YAKUB MENON CASE ....I hope to get good marks in this question but my answer was finished in 2 pages and one paragraph in page 3 .....but it is also true I hv not attempted question like CAT, federal supremacy, 17th one ......out of 215 I am, expecting 100-105 bcz in remaining questions CONTENT was not compromised

Yar maine basic content likha phir kuchh mil nahi raha tha likhne ko then I thought if any news related to AG .....I recalled these two cases, it was just sudden bcz i was attempting questions 11 to 20 firstly so it came in the beginning ( q14) ......I hv said so not for self accolades ...but jo bhi likha vahi bataya hai bhai

( my optional is sociology so i had various points )

Jaise jaise din gujarte jainge hum sabko paper easy lagta jaiga , coaching walo ne analysis bhi kara diya malayee ek dam.....aap analysis dekho aisa lagta hai paper Kitna easy aaya tha. Lekin Jisne mains diya hai kabhi unse punchho ki kaise exam ke time me brain block ho jata hai aur easy terms bhi mind se skip ho jate hai. Aapko jaise hi copy milti hai sare plan gayab ho jate hai. Pure saal me aapne jo structure banaya, jo flowchart banaya, jobhi mapping kiya... kuchh bhi kaam nahi aata. Sab ki najar Keval watch aur copy me rehti hai.

UPSC mains likhne ka experience sabko nahi milta aur aisa experience kahi bhi nahi milta. In one day we have to write 6 hours 120-130 pages. I still remember in 12th class I purchased 120 page copy for biology notes and after final exam only 100 pages were filled.

During mains after paper GS1 nearly 500 people were sitting in a hall and there was pin drop silence in the hall, can we imagine 500 sapiens were sitting togater silently without any instructor or supervisor, every one was studying for paper 2. This is the discipline which develops during CSE prepration. So I feel those who don't get final rank still they learn various things, and those who fails they learn EXTRA, they become good human being.

after 20 days rest i am back to forum read all comments in last two days including train journey of 800km

I want to know that how many examiners check GS copies. For example in GS 1 three subjects like society, geography, history. so does three expert check copies or just one. If copies are evaluated by JNU professors then he/she is specialist in one subject. I am sure optional copies are evaluated by specialist but what about GS1,2,3 ...guys reply with genuine evidence... Today I want to share about MY CONFIDENCE, MY PERFORMANCE IN MAINS AND MY EXPECTATIONS -

But firstly let's discuss about cutoff .....my belief is that cutoff will be between 730 to 750 because of difficulty level of GS1, GS2, GS3 and GS4 and difficult optionals ( either one or both papers )

MY PERFORMANCE-
in GS1 I just attempted 200 marks questions and didn't write anything in question 8,9,10,20( regret ) it means 45 marks but my confidence is that I will get nearly 100-105. In paper 1 I have not written any irrelevant and made total 9 figure,map, hub spoke )

In GS 2 I have not attempted question 2,4,15, 17 which is equal to 50 marks, my confidence is that I will get 95-100. I have not written any irrelevant stuff in any questions but handled to the point questions like FRENCH secularism, UNESCO and I.R. questions.

in GS 3 I have written all the questions but in question number 15 i.e. about Traditional knowledge I wrote just 1 page. In GS 3 I have made 15 figures map, pie chart in GST, inflation trend , GDP TREND, coastal minning, cyberdome. JAM trinity yojna figure, map of hazard zones etc.
In GS 3 I guessed Visesvaraya ( due to key word ) and cyberdome ( wrote about ethical hackers to identify and prevent the cyber threat ). So expecting 120 plus in GS3

In GS 4 I have not attempted official secret act and last case study it means left 30 marks. But rest of the case studies and answers were written with good examples, ARC, Mahabharata's values. Made total 8 figure, values tree ( figure ), hub spoke in citizen charter, and we'll explained Quote based questions.

I am expecting 105 to 110 in ethics ( very confident due to rich content but u can say it over confidence )

So total in GS 100+95+120+105= 420
In essay first one was best with nearly 15 dimensions ( individual good not good for society ) in second essay my topic was south asia culture dimensions were nearly 9 to 10 and wrote about present context also. So in essay I am expecting 80+65= 145

In optional( socio) I left 30 marks in paper 1 and left 20 marks in paper 2 so again I left 50 marks I optional. But in socio 1 I am expecting 145 and and in socio 2 I am expecting 150. I wrote all the pages in optional in all the questions and made nearly 10 to 12 map, figure totally

So my final marks 420+145+295 = 860/ 1750
*I have not attempted 200 marks questions totally so my expectations are that I will get 860 in 1550.

Before u guys start criticising I want to share my final expectations at least

In interview I am hoping 185 plus so my final score would be 860+185 = 1045

So with 1045 I am hoping to get rank upto 50

Why I am confident ?
BECAUSE I FEEL I HAVE WRITTEN ONLY RELEVANT STUFF, which was asked in question paper, also wrote IBC format in all the question and I have written EXAMPLES in every question and made figure, map, . I had various example in mind because I have been reading THE HINDU since last 10 years and I hv notes of THE HINDU of last 5 years.

*I had started reading THE HINDU to learn English in 2009 because I am a HINDI MEDIUM STUDENT ( till 12th) that's why I couldn't complete question paper as I started writing english more than 2 pages during UPSC prepration. Till 12th I had mug up one application of "Leave" and two essay topics ( diwali festival and wonders of science )

My achievement is that I have written two UPSC mains in ENGLISH MEDIUM, today I am master to write answer of any question, I consider myself as MASTER OF SOCIOLOGY, today I am making content in prominent IAS institute and also evaluating mains test copies of aspirants in another institute ( * I was imprisoned in a room for last five years with same chair and same books and ofcourse with my girlfriend (THE HINDU ) which made me human.

still I am hopeful to get top 50 rank, Guys u can criticise, evaluate .....all the stuff written above are true

Still I feel I have written best answers in GS , optional and essay. Only regret is that I should have completed the paper but I feel I would have written half heartedly all the answers.

It may be brother .....I was HONEST with myself during prepration, avoided suggestions of friends, seniors. And worked where I was lacking with dedication. In my first prelims test of UPSC at CL I got minus 6 marks I GS paper1 in 2014, but with hardwork im 2016 I got 153 marks in UPSC prelims GS1. ( not saying anything for accolades )

1. Tolerance- all religion have given equal rights in india like hindu, Islam

I had written that due to capitalist based mode of production, in assembly line only part of work is done by a workers thus when he saw a finished product he believes that this product is made by supernatural entity.

Vaise bhi forum me 90 percent logo ne mere comments ko misread hi kiya hai abhi tak aur mujhe virtually publicity seeker and feku declared kiya huaa hai

But still I believe cutoff will be below 40- 50 marks as compared to previous years, the reason being essay topics in second section were not easy. Topic dekhne me to easy lag rahe the but 8-9 pages ek flow me likhne me jyadatar logo ne problems face kiya. Other reasons are 1) difficult GS2 2) reduction in GS3 and 3) weird last case study 4) difficulty in optional papers even 5) increased vacancy ( if it is true )

i can understant the anxiety of fellow aspirants, but i believe that UPSC is still working hard to release result early.
thoda sa hum bhi responsible hai apni anxiety ke liye......ek mahine pehle si lono ne bolna sura kar diya tha ki mahaul banao...mahaul banao mains result ka forum me.
aur kuchh fake insider ne aur bhi anxiety badha diya by saying kal aaiga, parso aaiga. Yaro UPSC ki information kaise koi jaan sakta hai....aise to uski Credibility hi khatma ho jaigi.

one fellow aspirants has asked me privately here .....what i did for answer writing ....i replied him privately .....but i thought i should share here also...so that new aspirants may learn ( sharing exact reply )

i was not able to write good answer but some friend had suggested me to do insights secure

what i did was ?

i purchased 3 A4 size paper bundle .....from them made 6 copy ......4 for gs , 1 for optional and 1 for essay/facts ( this was my own strategy )

then i started writing INSIGHTS secure .......i used to pick up important question for GS1,2,3,4 .....after reading questions from insights ..i used to write answer .....but my answers used to be imperfect ...so i used to read the answers of other aspirants ( upvoted one )....so i used to add important points in my answers...

WHAT IS THE KEY.......WRITING ANSWERS DAILY, 1 ESSAY in a WEEK

IF u write 4-5 answers daily its my personnel experience that after 2-3 month u will be able to improve....but ..but....don't skip any day ........if u able to write answers for 60 days...u will find that ur answers have multiple dimensions and u will get flow in ur answers with STRUCTURE

again i repeat.....ur dedication of answer writing with CONSISTENCY can improve ur mains marks from 340 to 400 plus....so friend start ur answers writing from INSIGHTS SECURE....make seprate copy ( u can make UPSC copy pages and print out in A4 size bundles)

don't worry if ur answers is not get reviewed there (if u upload ur answers) ....important thing is writing answers and improving ur content/structure.

Also keep brainstorming while reading any topic in newspaper ...what i used to do For any issue i used to think that if this question will come in UPSC... then i will make this figure ...i will add map...i will add these points in way forward etc...

UR CONSISTENCY, DEDICATION, and THINKING are the KEY.....

I have filled up 8 copies made from A4 SIZE paper .....and today i am comfortable in writing any mains question.....

but one hard truth is that i couldn't complete GS questions in mains 2019 ( first reason was that i had switched my medium from HINDI to English and second reason was OVER CONTENT for most of the answers, so penned down rich content in most of the answers.

as u said u will write prelims again in may/june 2020 so u can practice mains answer writing till FEB....u will learn a lot ....

i hope this will help u ....thank u and good luck for future Exam

Notification and pre exam in 2020 will be on time....
yar jab prelims 2019 postpone nahi huaa ...that time many schools were booked for election and many govt. Teachers were on duty and even before 1 week we had elected new PM.

Mains ka bhi shedule nahi change huaa ( even after struck down of article 370 )

As Knowledge is already tested in pre and mains so i think we need to focus in these key points during UPSC interview

1. Be confident ....take stand instead of being too diplomatic
2. give respect to the members of the board ( They hv served the nation for more than 30 years in their respective Domain )
3. if u r not aware about the answer just say.....I am sorry ...sir i can't answer but i will try to learn
4. Answer to the point ( be specific ...don't bluff )
5. voice must be moderate ...neither too loud nor too low
6. Be HUMBLE ( humility is tested by ur response of any answer )

yar all excitement about the mains result eroded and leached away ....

can anyone tell me here what is the case related to EWS in CAT ....is it genuine reason for delay in result.

case by case.....but i will surely take my stand with logical arguments.
like Telangana encounter ....my stand is that prompt action like this encounter is not the long term solution....we need to sensitize police. judiciary at district level must work fastly...there should be deadline for cases of heinous crimes in Fast track courts too. Media must be responsible etc.

so, i will take stand in all issues depending on the nature of the case

UPSC essay topic...biased Media .....this topic shows that UPSC wants rational people with positive attitude. new civil servant must have courage to take stand on given situation during decision making.

Jis Tarah se prelims ka difficulty level badh raha na.....mujhe to ye exam kisi bhi tarah se general nahi lagta .....even deep understanding is need of the hour.... for example economic cost of FCI, AMR,RNA, Tansen, Agasthamalay BR and its sanctuaries, Nettle, Liberty, future Buddha, remote sensing chlorophyll mapping, etc.

But the current affairs of vision and insights are mainly based on THE HINDU, INDIAN EXPRESS and PIB
i agree with u that guess work play crucial role .....now UPSC asks current affairs of last 2-3 years hence difficult for new aspirants also increasing questions from medieval and ancient history makes prelims more difficult

abhi 100 din ho chuke paper ko .....ab paper dekhne me mujhe bhi easy lag raha hai but during mains exam mujhe 3-4 questions to samajh hi nahi aa rahe the....ab question dekhta hu to lagta hai ki es question ko aise likh sakta tha, esme ye intro ho sakta tha, ye body ho sakta tha, ye flowchart ho sakta tha..etc.

before GS-2 we had essay then GS-1.......my brain was overloaded with content and fetching relevant content for each question within 8-9 minutes was really difficult, challenging and herculean

Hence, brother i still feel that GS-2 was most difficult paper in last 5-6 years.

8 QUESTIONS of 15 marks attempted perfectly ( 55 to 60 marks are expected )
8 questions of 10 marks attempted perfectly ( 40 to 45 marks)
left 3 questions blank
so 95 to 100 are expected ( rest UPSC will decide )

my request to all aspirants that be original ....present original documents...otherwise u hv to bite the bullet ( when EWS reservation was implemented one my relatives who is self proclaimed Neta forced me to get this certificate with malafide path.....That day i outrageously rejected his treacherous method and decided to work extra 10 percent to compensate the 10 percent Quota to EWS...as i belong to general category and also my father being EX-ARMY OFFICER gets pension from the govt. so my Inner conscience did not allow to adopt immoral practice.

But u said here so I am telling u my final expectations/predictions

GS1- 100 plus
GS2- 95 to 100
GS3- 115-125
GS4- 105 -112
Essay- 80+75= 155
Optional sociology
Paper1- 145 to 150
Paper 2- 155 to 160
On an average
100+98+118+108=426
145+145+155= 445
Total= 871 ( *if scaling... 10 to 15 marks may increase )

Bro these are my final expectations......I don't know about UPSC.....UPSC me vision IAS ki tarah copy check nahi hoti......so I am hoping that good marks will be awarded for good answer... I still believe in each GS paper I hv written best answers for at least 15 to 16 questions.

Bhai tumhe bhi shayad exaggeration hi lage Lekin mai November 2018 se fully dedicated that pre aur mains ke liye aur mains ka target tha 500 in GS, 500 in ( ES+OP ).....jaisa maine pehle bhi kaha hai ki mujhe bahut hi hurt hota hai ki questions kyo chhoda.... being a Hindi medium student I have written mains in english so I had slow speed even after practice of nearly 1000 GS answers, at least 100 essay and 200 optional answers in last 5 years (not boasting in my room u will find notebooks mainly in which I hv practiced answers)
....now i think maina apna full potential diya mains ke time me....my aim was to write atleast 80 percent good answers.....GS1 me jo questions chute o bahut hi hurt karta hai abhi bhi kyoki sab social wale area se the....

Hope is good and self belief is best.

Forum me kai logo ko aise hi lagta hai.....ab mai kisko kisko certificate ya evidence dikhau

I started from question no. 11 it took nearly 2 hours to complete 9 questions of 15 marks...after I moved to question no. 1. Mera jo questions chhuta o hai 8,9,10, 20.

ab jo huaa wahi Bata raha hu....

it is good that u hv completed all the questions. But in my case quality and quantity is not compromised in any attempted questions of GS/OP.

*legible handwriting was my first priority
*writing all the dimensions of the questions ( context)
*additional- Map, Flowchart, pie chart, graph, ( in sociology..there was question on Swachh bharat mission i made figure/ diagram of two small house and pointed EJJAT GHAR, in solution twin pit toilet structure.)
*reports of UN, WEF, ministry ( in many questions i hv mentioned Global Risk report.....like in Vulnerabilty, carrying capacity, Coral bleaching etc.
Conclusion/ way forward.
