How was the paper guys ?
I missed the interview call last year by 8 marks. The marks I received were much more than expected. My preparation was shoddy at best. It was my 1st attempt at mains and I lacked any guidance whatsoever. I panicked towards the end and ended up screwing the exam. So, my content was nowhere close to what it should have been. Although, I didn't qualify I was quite surprised to see that I missed cutoff by 8 marks.Refer to this official Document of UPSC. It lays down the procedure for evaluation of Mains QCA booklets. Is upsc mains copy checked by a single evaluator or different experts evaluate different sections?

So one examiner checks the whole copy. Wonder if the model answer arrived by them is just a simple para containg the essence of the question and anyone who writes around that essence gets the marks regardless of no. Of points written or pictures drawn .
What I realised was that sticking to what the question is asking is what matters the most I think. All the peripheral points and extras I don't know, maybe if I had done that, I would have got more marks.

Completely opposite to me. As I was preparing since 5 years, I have good content (I feel so). I had prepare crisp notes for each of the topics from syllabus. And I have adhered to the question which is asked. I was confident of getting at least interview call but missed by a huge margin of 59 marks 😐. Essay was the spoiler mainly (got 91)

In this exam, we should give the best shot when our opportunity comes and don’t expect anything. We just need to leave it to the time. As Kalam sir said our destiny is predetermined 😃
@Capedcrusader1 I honestly have no idea but some hindi medium aspirants were complaining about it. Since the translation said ‘prakitik’ which is naturally instead of ‘sthanik’ which is native. Therefore many supposedly marked d.
This is legitimate doubt
