Don't know why virus is not given as the answer by many keys but I found this to be supporting this

I assume u are referring to the below line in the article

"These nutrients, like specific sugar and salt molecules, are extracted from tissues of suitable animals like horses, cow, goat or sheep. The virus grows in these nutrient-rich solutions."

The extracts are not artificial/synthetic right as there are from horses, cow etc. Thus idon't think this might be thearticle to substantiate your (actually our as i have also marked D) argument.

was accidently binging on student responses after the UPSC exam (mainly GS1) due to stupid youtube recc. But i noticed most students felt the paper was easy or at best moderate and definitely easier than last year. Personally, I was blank after the exam as i thought it all depends on how my guesses went and definitely would not classify the paper as easy just because 5-10 questions were easy/repeated from last year. Just wondering how others felt immediately after the exam. I know it does not matter now anyways, but i have time to kill.

I knew it was tough and got upset even while attempting it.either they were lying or they were state psc candidates.

after the exam I felt, whether I would qualify or not depends a lot on my 50/50, 1 out of 3, and also some wild guesses.

Just found this in my tax module. May be useful for those debating Dayabhaga and Mitakshara.

@Stay_happy the point is if the culture of virus is possible on a artificial/synthetic medium. I do not have the scholarship to define what and artificial/synthetic medium exactly refers to, but i would guess it has nothing to do with using substances that have biological origin.

@Negan Just my two cents

There are two kinds of difficult papers. Consider a simple example of National parks, which almost every serious candidate can memorize. Last, year, you had to also know that Godavari passes through Papikonda instead of Cauvery. Just knowing that it lies in Andhra Pradesh is not enough. This is an illustration of standard syllabi made conceptually difficult. A diligent candidate may be able to work it our based on basic understanding of geographical distribution of National Parks.

Then there is the difficulty level of which organism is "filter based feeder", or which one rolls up for protection etc.
If you know, you know types. This is absurd level of difficulty.

JEE is the first type. Everyone knows all the trigonometric formulas, par bhaisahab ek one line question rula sakta hai if you are unable to recognize which formula to use. Instead, imagine they start giving analytic continuation in JEE, no one is scoring that.

Last year, I cleared forest pre. This year, marks in 80s. numerous examples like me are floating around this blog. 4 or 5 people may be a small sample size, but it's the sample size of people who not only cleared pre but aced it.

The shock factor in last years paper started to wear off after 10 minutes or so once you got in the rhythm, because 80 odd questions were doable, and right up the traditional prelims syllabus alley. This year, the every time I turned the page, I was shocked. After 10 minutes, I was almost excited for the next set of questions on the new page to find out what new shocking thing I am going to discover.

Hmm. Right.. Culturing living cells while artificial synthetic means nutrients and all

Answer A hi hoga 1 and 2

Beyond doubt

I also marked D but it is wrong sure shot.. Research papers se to yaar kuch bhi possible hain.

They added the word artificial for a reason i think.... else synthetic would suffice.

@Halt Not to offend you, but is it possible that this forum consists of some people who aced prelims earlier and did not have a good year in 2020 and that it is only a very small minority and the vast majority who did well earlier and are doing well this year are simply staying away/silent from/on this platform ? Are we trying to make assumptions on the exam based on cherrypicked examples of those who did not have a good year ?

I don't have any circle of close friends in this process so am genuinely unsure of overall response (except what i can gather from this forum and bunch of demoralizing youtube vidoes which keep saying polity & economy sections were the easiest).
