@Celeborn thanks to show your integrity in the last sentence.
I have invested a huge amount of time, money, emotions, physical and mental effort to this process. Detachment, alienation, sacrifice, or whatever "ahuti" this exam demands, I have submitted to it. People around me, including the mentors and forum faculties tell me, I have a huge potential to clear mains if I write. Topping in MGP test series, class tests, and what not.But for past 4 years, I have been returning back from the front door only. Not able to pass the prelims barrier.

Once I was told to dominate the prelims exam. I did today. I did everything. But I am still at the door. Will be waiting for another 40 days to see if it opens or not. But this feeling. This moment of sadnes. Even after 4 years of practice, I have not been used to it. It still aches the same as it did the first time.

There are so many things I have learnt in this journey, whether about studies or life, I am a evolved person today. And I know I will be a successful person in life (as per my definition of success). But this moment right now, this still ache. Very bad!

May you all have a good sleep (the only good thing this exhausting day can give us). And try to be kind to yourself.

Heart wrenching comment.in my case,.i already had mental problems from childhood and it got further worse in last few years due to my failures.i wish I could come out of it and again get the ability to feel pleasure in simple things.

Are coaching CSAT Keys reliable? Have attempted very less and unsure about the Comprehension bit. Staying positive and preparing for Mains seems too big a task.

They r bs,more so when it comes to CSAT.just wait for the result

@HeNeArKr csat asaan laga kya aapko, or you have very strong apti, I mean people are struggling for qualifying marks and you are getting double the qualifying marks.. 😄😀

Bro.. Csat was tough its just that I have cleared Cat before so I was having an advantage. Even then my strategy was not to touch the RC questions. Araam se 50-60 quant or reasoning kro hojayga clear. Rcs to were even a notch higher than CAT(mtlb saare hi inference based). I don't know how would one from a non maths background could get 66 + marks with a month of prep. Kyuki RC to UPSC ke alava shayad hi koi use shi answer kr paaye :p

I m so weak in maths but even I answered 30 qstns excluding rc.csat was time consuming but it's not as tough as it is made to be.i just wonder how anyone who is talented enough to pass gs1 could fail in gs2

Csat- 139. Happy with csat but ga is borderline (93 acc to foru

If u r above 85 in upsc key u would surely write mains.

@Howz_the_josh I was getting 125+ in 2020 now am scoring between 90-100 , Definitely paper was unconventional, unexpected , I must say that cut off will be low...

I hope so ,though I m in the same range ,I am feared abt my marks accrdng to official upsc key.certainly it would vary a lot .

how much will be the cutoff? I am so confused. Many are scoring above 100.. will the cutoff go above 100?

Scoring as per their own belief and based on coaching keys

4.6k views
Btw, do you guys have any idea on how many questions were removed from consideration in last year's paper? People are saying the low cutoff is due to that.

That's just wishful thinking due to the pain of failure.coaching keys are bs and wrong in almost 7 qstns last year.that could be the only explanation. Its better to accept the truth than indulging in conspiracy theories

5.5k views
Am I imagining things, or is it that a lot of people are scoring more than 100?

This year those who claimed more then 100 are very less and last 3 years many claimed more then 110 ,still cutoff was low everytime.you can't predict anything now except that cutoff won't rise beyond 90 in anycase ,it could go further lower.only issue is cutoff would be accrding to upsc key.it is coaching morons who create false expectations and capitalise on that.

@Vishnugupta And if someone wants to use this as benchmark, this is this year's poll

I guess it's like all the online mocks. When no one's watching, many people tend to get exceptionally high scores, which they otherwise would not

They somehow want to delude themselves by putting their marks in the safe range based on previous year cutoff and insights bunch r the worst lol.i m one victim in the past.

If cutoff does not decrease it must be due to clustering but due to many ambiguous questions it could even be in the range of 80 to 85.

Here we are doing PhD on questions and this is what our future bosses think about us. UPSC bhi sayad aise hi sochta hai isliye quality of paper is declining over the years. Paradoxically every other day we get to hear one or other Babu being hired at top position by Pvt sector like phonepe or even Facebook india.

Do give your views on lateral entry - 9 to 31 to what next ?? Has babudom become the deep state ?

Indeed babudom was and is the deep state. It was always. Point is

1. We have closed bureaucracy system.

2. We have committed bureaucracy.

3. We have issues in politico-bureacratic relationship. Either it is as bad as khemka or become nexus.. Of course some are good but they cant fight collusion.

4. IAS association is itself a new elite club which protects the interest of IAS as a service along with its members. IAS association has  brought but not pushed and advocated any honest reforms to cut the red tape, Make burecrats not to act Like god(kabhi kabhi lagta hai apan hi khuda h).

5. The DM as an institution dont want to delegate powers to democratic institution like Muni and PRI. (Though state have to do this by law but you know nexus). Imagine if Institution of DM is accountable to mayor for not doing any gud work ... in turn DM as institution will be accountable to immediate public .

This institution has upwards accountability to boss both burecratic and political.. but No instrument of acc in hand of public to held a rogue bureaucrat accountable. Lokpal was a paper tiger 🤣

6. Closed nature of bureaucracy in India - Once you get in you are all govt have. Even if u never update your skill even you are non efficient... You are never go to be fired in average case.

The bureaucracy should be open at senior level. It should not be captive of Babus hired by UPSC. UPSC should start opening more and more admin position in SCS(senior civil service) to be hired from Pvt sector or anywhere. We need talent, expertise and proficiency in admin in 21st century ... and of course ....The regular bureaucracy hired by UPSC ... is  the average talented lot in long run(read about Peters plateau)  in a big organization like Government.

The currency used by all coaching hubs to buy out any legitimate apprehension in the minds of young students regarding the unfairness of the process: motivation. They motivate you to aspire for exclusivity, make you believe that the achievement is associated with your self-worth, assume that the world is a level playing field, and meritocracy is the fair counterpart of an otherwise unfair system.

The show encourages the audacity to dream, as if the reason people don’t get into UPSC is not itslimited intakebut because they don’t “believe in themselves.”

Just a thought on meritocracy after seeing 2021 Pre exam.

True. Its a trap to ensnare naive people.

Post 2021 prelims different scenario from past years:

1. Aspirants not interested to disclose their marks.

2. Not interested to join any test series until results are declared.

3. Not interested to check different keys.

4. Not interested to discuss what is right or wrong.

5. Inflating marks by considering at least 60-70% disputed questions as right.

6. Institutes not interested to launch any test series until results.

7. Not enthusiastic to write answers until we clear prelims.

A different scenario and environment this year 😐

true .I am just confused, why then everyone feels cutoff wont plunge lower than 90.I feel it would be 85 (upsc key)as almost 6 to 7 qstns would differ from bs keys.

Ya its according to that link but just a Google search will reveal sovereignty is not must to be considered as a state .it could be A only if upsc paper setter took it from the same source or any other which considers sovereignty as integral part of a state.

@morty In 2020 prelims , I got 104 according to vision ,but according to upsc it’s 94 ….2 questions got deleted but marks were normalized

Who said 2 qstns got deleted?it's just that coaching keys were wrong

4.3k views
@morty yes that's true but this year don't think it will cross 95. Not many students are crossing 100 this time

It won't cross 85(upsc key)

@bhuvanamalar1015412 it’s pretty obvious according to the marks I got …one question is CDM which got deleted and the other I don’t know

Why can't it be that coaching keys were wrong in some qstn.there is no chance for upsc to discount 2 qstns cause none of the qstns were wrong in 2020.

I've heard last year too people were talking about how tough the prelims paper 1 was, and speculated cutoff to be 90 plus minus 2. But in the end, it was on a higher side (if we consider 1-2 qns were removed). So how true are these discussions and predictions by the institutes.

Also, are people really seeing a drop of 15-20 marks as compared to their last year's marks?

I am so confused what to believe and what not to. Are there people who are scoring really good marks and keeping silence? (I hope this isn't true :sweat_smile:)

Obviously things will be a bit clear once the result is out. But can someone with a little experience give his/her views on this?

For your second point, i suppose both are True! Some ppl are scoring 15 to 20 marks lesser (as per this thread) and some are easily scoring 100+ (as per poll)

100 according to coaching keys.last year everyone was scoring beyond 100 but cutoff was 92.only those who get above 85 are participating in polls.its unreliable

3.7k views
@morty last year except 1-2people all were expecting cutoff to be between 95-99.... This year most are saying it to be 88-92

They would claim cutoff based on previous year.no one could predict it accurately.as last year cutoff was 92 everyone predicts in that range this year .

4.3k views
Last year score of maximum people got reduced like those who were scoring 110 got 95. If that's the case then is it possible that only those who are scoring above 100 will qualify this year since score will decrease like last year?

it depends on the qstns they attempted.some who gets low like 80 with coaching keys could get high in reality, some who get 98 could fail.

4.7k views
PS- I don’t think cut off is going to cross 88, that’s the maximum in my opinion. Have given attempts since 2015, cleared all Pre and gave 2 interviews. This was the toughest prelims in my opinion. Highest I have scored was 151 and lowest was 116 till now. Sharing to back up my analysis. All the best guys.

damn thats some humongous range.

more then fear abt my failure, kind of qstns asked irritates me,that too after national education policy.even tamilnadu state psc has improved and started asking conceptual qstns.

if cse cutoff is 90 this year ,ifos cutoff shld be 110.i dont think that could happen cause very few gets above 110 even by coaching keys.i have not seen more then 4 all over internet.many who crossed ifos cutoff last year were in the range of 90 to 100.

@bhuvanamalar1015412 many state commissions are moving towards conceptuality that's good thing

in tamilnadu psc most of the paper would be eulogising ancient tamil people and tamil language.thats the only reason i hate reading for tnpsc.it almost gets boring and irritating beyond a point.other than that this year tnpsc qstns were good but i dont know how it would be in future.whatever i have decided to give a serious try if i fail upsc pre this year as idiotic qstns like nuniz opinion on whether women knew wrestling, astrology, sooth saying broke my belief.i dont have the ability to memorize like that.

a bit late to the discussion but i am curious if people even actually felt the paper was tougher than last year, as the cut-offs of most institutes is 90-95 i.e similar to last year. ALso all the answer key discussions on youtube have the teachers itself getting confused/having alternating opinions but at the same time mentioning that the cut-off could be marginally higher than last year. What am i missing, there seems to be some disconnect.

They can't believe cutoff could be lower than 89 despite indications to the contrary as it looks too low.i believe it will be low as even with bs coaching keys most r getting low marks, even ifos aspirants

@oopsie as much as i do not wish to comment on the merit of the examination process, i definitely feel the exam setters have botched up a bit given so many interpretations/opinions to so many questions prevailing even a week after the examination.

I understand UPSC is supreme, but how could they legitimately claim that granite & schist do not form black soil when evidence to the contrary seems to clearly exist.

Also since the question was asked about the weathering of which rock would lead to formation of black soil of India so I mean why cant be the granite and schist erosion can be attributed for the formation of black soil.

yes but we cant avoid them cmptly, could minimise it though . only option left for us is to be crystal clear with facts and concepts and be calm and carefree in exam hall to get rid of fear and avoid overthinking.i had this idea to travel to coorg or ooty before pre for relaxation.i shld have done it.it would only become tougher as time goes on.certainly this year paper was set to eliminate guessing, probably with a psychologist guidance.lots of thinking has gone into designing options.

reminisce in a way still trying to be happy:- I was at A2B for lunch after gs1, was washing my hands and Gowalia Tank came to my mind (1942 is wrong!) and the table had a bit of spill of fruit juice...guess what Triclosan is wrong for fruit preservative....and on....hits and misses, revisions makes me sick, so I never do:- but i too feel bad for a haughty approach! but honestly we could seldom pinpoint an approach that will takes us through, earlier used to be the case for mains and interview, now it is creeping into prelims, i feel....

Not even 300 people cmntd their marks here.no way 40k to 50k would get beyond 80.not even 6000 general students will get that even by bs coaching keys.

this is given in ncert, still let upsc decide but must probably it will be B

iss definition se toh A hi aa rha hai answer...anyways B mai natural rights bol rha hai, totalitarian states have no natural rights they remain a  state nevertheless

basically, the idea of state/nation-state is centered around sovereignty.

There is a lesson abt state in nios.in that multiple definitions of scholars about state were given.option b in that qstn just combines all those definitions more or less.At first I felt b is the exact ans(cause I marked it)but now feel it could be A too in terms of upsc ans key as A speaks about sovereignty directly .Most prbbly it shld be A.

Gymnastics people do to prove their answers as right  looks astonishing.there is no reason to doubt goi 1935 qstn.its clear as daylight ans is b.i marked it as d and it's wrong .Reason for these sorry state of affairs is bs coaching keys that makes every qstn doubtful.for example in carbon monoxide qstn its quite clear the answer is D as it uses the word may .still coaching morons made it doubtful.in epfo A is clearly wrong as all casual workers r not entitled to it,still coaching morons made it doubtful.these r objective qstns based on facts and yet they remain doubtful.

It depends on the qstn setter.B is more comprehensive ,mix of many definitions given by scholars but A is a definition of state by a single scholar .

State wala question me option A and B are verbatim of political theorists.

A is of Garner and B of Bluntschli

Ab i will tell u the problem

In Option A upsc has removed the line where garner says that there has to be ‘ Habitual obedience’ from citizens

in Option B upsc has added on its own ‘ natural rights ‘ and ‘ means of sustenance’

ab dekhlo kaunsa answer hoga

No.option a is given by garner but in option b first part is by blutschli and law and order, natural rights, means of sustenance were definitions of state given by other scholars.its in a nios lesson.

With each passing day ,number of questions with disputable answers are increasing

what do u expect when 6 qstns differ every year compared to coaching bs.6 qstn is a huge difference ,difference between civil service and ifos cutoff.few were due to aspirants trying to make their ans right but most of the disputed qstns r due to coaching idiots makiing wrong keys.this year too it will happen but ironically the answers that differ were one least expects to be a disputed one.

@bhuvanamalar1015412 exactly! but then this is the beauty of this exam that it dands intellect and knowledge and most importantly patience to avoid silly mistakes and no deep research.

yes,i just hate coaching centres scamming people and selling snake oil such as mock test,ca material, what not. and so i rant at them,at first,i loathed upsc for asking stupid sports and history qstns but now i feel its good in a way to curb coaching institutes.sports 365 would come next year and everyone would memorise it but unfrtntly olympics would happen only 5 years once and no qstns would be asked lol.

Why in mitakshara question 3rd statement is wrong?no coaching key has answered this.infact in dhayabhaga under special circumstances son could claim right to property before father's death. statement 2 in the qstn too emphasizes the word only but it's not the case 100 percent.
5.1k views
To get the exact position on State let's file a pil in supreme court and they will refer it to constitutional bench , this way two questions can be checked and who knows they can put the case first to a retired supreme court judge and we may ask the recall questions too ?😂😂

😂

Same.i don't understand why it is wrong. Mitakshara does deal with joint hindu family property but only males were coparceners and hold that property.2nd statement is right too generally but in dhayabhaga if a father strays away from dharma or becomes a sanyasin, sons could claim right to property in his lifetime .

how is that ? Statement 3 talks about
properties held by men and women, it’s not about having share in the property.
Let me know if I’m missing any point in that.

Share in the property automatically implies properties held by man and women as women can't be coparceners in mitakshara law.

In the same forum, people were discussing cutoff to be more than 100 last year and it went down to 92. The thing is everyone is inflating score by taking that key which is giving them maximum marks and then counting those positive which they find it here and there. Remove these 9-10 answers and surely most will come down to below 90. So everyone who is getting 80-100 is safe and unsafe at the same time and should continue studies. 5 questions in your favor and your score will go up by 13 marks from 82 to 95.

True.

3.9k views
@balwintejas that’s the case of different. But according to upsc key cutoff will not be less than 90

You really think toughness level of this paper was comparable to last year?some would have thrived in factual paper based on rote learning but most of those types would fail in csat.it could go as low as 85 and not above 87 .66 in my opinion.most of the marks we see here are inflated ones too, that also shld be taken into account.

Regarding the Indus question, I have 2 questions. You can add your suggestions.

Q. "With reference to the Indus river system, of the following four rivers, three of them (1)pour into one of them which joins the Indus direct. Among the following, which one issuch river that joins the (2)Indus direct ?"

It says'pour into', does it say 'meet' ? Pour should means 'drains into'.

Does it say three of them pour one by one ?

What do you mean by"direct". Chenab river firstly meets other rivers. how it can be direct ? Hindi Translation says " Jo sindhu nadi seyseedhi milti hai".

Taking a break from mains prep to catch up on the debates.

Cut-off prediction is difficult when your previous anchor point is unreliable, e.g.  2017->2018 (difficulty jump, first time below 100), 2018->2019 (EWS ka introduction), and 2019->2020 (pandemic year, new paper style, difficult CSAT paper, etc). But  anyone who's given several of these attempts and has cleared somewhat consistently will have a good estimate of the main parameter that sets the cut-off, which is the difficulty. All the other factors - size of competition, number of seats, etc , exam attendance, are all secondary factors which mostly cancel each other out.  There's no way to objectively definitively 100% state that paper was easier or harder, but if you've written multiple attempts and have cleared or gotten close to, you should trust your gut.

I can 100% say that to my eye, both papers were harder than last year. I've never had any CSAT issues and even this year will not have any CSAT issues, but even while reading the paper I could tell that it was going to be difficult for people. Usually I attempt >70 questions, but last year could only manage 65 and this year only around 60 questions. CSAT was vague, had confusing conflicting passages, had tricky math questions that could easily eat up your time, etc etc. This is more so than last year. And GS paper was definitely tougher - new topic areas, hard questions ,vague questions, bad translations, etc. This idea that there are enough easy questions to push the cut-off up is laughable - everyone who wrote the paper knows the kind of mental pressure that occurs while writing and how easy it is to slip up on those sitters. I for e.g. skipped the Bethune question because it was right after the Gandhi question and I didn't have the nerve to tick the right answer, even though I'd circled it. The only point at which the paper would seem easier is in the few days afterwards, when you sit with the paper and curse yourself or watch the coaching centres gaslight you into thinking that your brain was wrong. It's a combination of anchoring effect, desire for risk mitigation, insecurity, etc etc.

Anyway, longwinded way of saying that I can definitely believe the assessment that the cut-off would drop by 2.5 questions (i.e. 5 marks) due to the GS paper, and another 1 question (i.e. 2 marks) because of  the CSAT. I don't think the impact from reduced seats will be felt - some 500 lost places will hardly account for more than half a mark at the border and will be more than compensated for by the fewer number of people who would have written the exam with a decent level of preparation (I don't know about you guys but I know that the 2nd wave definitely impacted my own preparation).

Am taking Shankar, Hardworking Human, Kaptaan and Vision's rough benchmarks and trusting my own gut and have moved accordingly.

true.excellent analysis.

Yes,that's a big scam,a whole breed of motivational speakers have emerged, especially in upsc field and I get irritated when I hear these talks of hardwork, not giving up until u reach ur destiny, making it big in life,ur life is completely in ur hands,u could do anything u want etc lol.a brother of mine gets motivated to get into gym everytime he sees a new movie with fit actors ,want to make it big in life everytime he watches a youtube video.he forgets it later though.

Guys, asking out of anxiety. Till now I had no doubt about copper smelting being D. But few people are doubting it. What does the majority in our group think ?

carbon monoxide is used in as reactant hence  it doesn't release in lethal quantities hence d is incorrect this is what majority of coaching say but I'm not sure i also marked D :(

Carbon monoxide is lethal even in small quanties.i don't know exactly but there have been accidents involving co in smelting .I left the qstn though .I feel they did it to break guess work where extreme word is wrong.

any answer corrected as per his key is deem to be incorrect

Though guy in this video is a moron, mitochondria could be A only

very funny 😆. Just wasted 3 minutes 😄

the only great optimism lies in hoping not much of those 8 questions go correct and a few of ones already considered correct go wrong 😂😂😂

That's what I hope lol but it flies in the face of qstn paper being wrong.only solace is last year too everyone claimed they were unable to get in even after scoring above 105 when cutoff is just 92.so I m inclined to think cutoff won't go above 85 but in terms of upsc keys.

my personal experience suggests the same bro. last year paper was a cake walk, it never bothered me but this year I felt real discomfort. in first cycle i could mark only 36 questions and this was where panic gripped me. I strongly feel cutoff ought to decline and in worst case remain same but in no case I feel it to rise. And also when difficult factual questions find their way to the paper in abundance, one's efficiency and confidence naturally declines and this affects his or her performance even in medium and easy questions.

Options r so close this year.coaching morons r trying to gain advantage by terming economics, polity as easy.,so that they could rake in more money in their upsc 2022 course.cutoff shld not go above 85 but everyone claims a high cutoff due to uncertainty of coaching keys.atleast that's what I tend to think.

Hello guys .. alot of bloodshed has been happening so please dont beat me or cuss at me when I say this ..

so I spoke to one of my professors at DU (Political science department) about that polity question - safeguards of liberty in a liberal democracy and she definitely says the answer is Elected Government. She said though separation  of powers and rule of law are other ingredients but all of them wont be possible if a state does not have anelectedgovernmentat first (also the question specifically says liberal democracy) .. only then those things can be assured.  She also told me that with respect to such questions - read some philosophers (even if not from an optional background) like Aristotle, JS mill , Berlin etc  in free time and that may in general invoke some interest. Also despite my background in this subject , I haven’t taken PSIR optional so don’t think that I am in anyway advertising any optional .. just putting an end to this debate of “one of many interpretation “based questions.

I too marked Elected government option but ye wala galat hai. Mera 2 polity ke mistakes bahut bhaari padne wale hain. Doosra Article 32 mark kiya maine.

Yaar unhone bola toh correct Elected govt hai .. I asked an expert to finally put an end to this debate ki kya hoga ..

even I marked that article wala question as 32. Some stupid mistakes of polity and economy(like that last resort question)is also going to cost me alot ..

probably your expert isn't so expert. because there is a difference between elected government and elected government by universal adult franchise

Oh acha! Itna specific hona padta hai .. ki matlab universal adult franchise bhi mentioned ho..

maybe yaar you are right. My source is an LSR professor who teaches political theory and constitution from the past 20 years and has written many things on this topic so I thought she would not be wrong in this.

Lets see :)

Analyse the options

B - concentration of powers

D - separation of powers

Go through any paper of upsc and you will find that whenever such opposite options are present thn answer is always one of the options. And out of the two options, separation of powers is the relevant option.

Moreover, elected govt option itself is incomplete and vague. Baaki one can go into the political science theory and research papers but that will yield nothing.

That qstn seems to be lifted from a wire article about modi gov being autocractic despite being an elected one and india claiming itself as a liberal democracy . Answer is seperation of powers ,100%.

@saurabher43267  i was having teatime conversation with my father last month. He told me a
very beautiful thing which I am proud of, he said, you have become a better and much informed individual for your age, while my colleagues children of your age are busy in their jobs and earning well but all they have become is a pay package. They are reduced to individuals with a tag of say 10, 15 lacs package and nothing more than that.
I am proud of you that you are different, even though you don't earn now, but that's still fine, because eventually you will. I have never seen any educated and well formed 30 year old man not earning..

So even if I don't clear it, i think i have received my samadhan..

#Rant

The more i keep think about what i could i have done differently in the prelims exam the more i feel that nothing much could have been done. 3-4 silly mistakes which could be avoided, but ye toh sabhi ka hota hain and exam mein mostly unavoidable. Rest 7-8 questions that i could answer correctly were those where i was confused with 2 options, in fact in most cases everyone is. Just that on the given day i chose one option and if i had chosen the other i would have 4-5 marks greater than the supposed predicted cut-off . Yaar i just don't get the exam. Most of all i get irritated when i hear topper's talks saying the same things which i have mostly practiced. I know that even if i had my best day i would only be hovering around 96-98 which gives me no confidence w.r.t what needs to be prepared.

Toppers talk looks like a cmplte scam to me.if we take a sample of 1000 people who follow those bs strategy given by topper gods and another 1000 who follow their own strategy,2nd group will have more number of people passing the exam.

So, I know I am too late, and there has been possibly no discussion on this question, but a doubt

The question "With reference to Indian judiciary..."
Statement 1 is:

Any retired judge of the Supreme Court of India can be called back to sit and act as a Supreme Court judge by the Chief Justice of India with prior permission of the President of India.

I marked C initially, but went with B, because I remembered that the prior permission of the retired judge is also necessary. Every answer key has given the answer as C, and no one has discussed this here. Just a passing, inconsequential doubt, if anyone would help clarify it.

Yes prior consent of the judge is needed, but can he be called back with the permission of President? Yes. That's what is asked

No even with permission of president the consent of judge is needed  reach article again

It clearly mentions consent is needed before he sits and acts as judge but consent is not needed for chief justice to call him.in short, anyone could propose love but it's upto the person to reject it or not.

Why is it that people who are sure of not clearing csat usually claim their gs marks above the range of 95-100....last year too the comment section was full of scoring 120 in paper one but can't clear csat.

paper 1 was in the style of state of psc and favoured rote learning ,this year unlike in the last 3 years. As per my theory, many of those who r good at rote learning alone would have suffered in csat but they would have found this year paper 1 easier than 2020. some were good at anytype of paper though.

With reference to the history of ancient India, which of the following statements is/are correct?
1. Mitakshara was the civil law for upper castes and Dayabhaga was the civil law for lower castes.
2. In the Mitakshara system, the sons can claim right to the property during the lifetime of the father, whereas in the Dayabhaga system, it is only after the death of the father that the sons can claim right to the property.
3. The Mitakshara system deals with the matters related to the property held by male members only of a family, whereas the Dayabhaga system deals with the matters related to the property held by both male and female members of a family

In this qstn,2nd statement does not talk abt joint hindu family property alone and sons cannot claim rights when father is alive in the seperate property of a father under mitakshara law whereas third statement talks abt hindu family property and it is absolutely right.then how every coaching key gives 2 as the answer?

@toooldtodieyoungPeople are confusing easiness with Lack of shock factor. Last year, paper was heavily based on Agriculture and there were random questions like Hathi ka gestation period. Thus, many candidates were shocked. This year, People were more or less mentally prepared for anything UPSC were to throw at them. Therefore, lack of shock factor is being confused with easiness of paper. But this year, UPSC, being UPSC took up the sports section, right to city, and many such questions out of blue. Also medieval questions like Arcot are still debatable to this day. Even elimination techniques did not work much this year as options were wierd. So, all in all, Paper was not shocking, but difficult to score.

Last year paper was an awesome one, so conceptual.sorry for saying this but sometimes i feel cause of morons who cursed that paper, they set this stupid one in 2021.

was accidently binging on student responses after the UPSC exam (mainly GS1) due to stupid youtube recc. But i noticed most students felt the paper was easy or at best moderate and definitely easier than last year. Personally, I was blank after the exam as i thought it all depends on how my guesses went and definitely would not classify the paper as easy just because 5-10 questions were easy/repeated from last year. Just wondering how others felt immediately after the exam. I know it does not matter now anyways, but i have time to kill.

I knew it was tough and got upset even while attempting it.either they were lying or they were state psc candidates.

cut off 86-88
because last year cut off 92.51
assuming 2 ques. got deleted (+4 marks)
but the score must have been scaled to 200
so on avg. everyone will get 1.9 marks
so net deduction of 2.1 marks
 so actual cut off could have been = 92.51 + 2.1 = 94.61
Now a poll on telegram showed decrease in   number of marks of students compared to  last  year coaching keys-
the average mean marks reduced is 9 marks
 so = 94.61 - 9 = 85.61
now taking into consideration reduction in  vacancy add 2
 85.61 + 2 = 87.61
also many people have doubts regarding csat  so reduce 1 mark
 87.61 - 1 = 86.61
so cut off will be 86-88

ps- did this calculation few days back, thought of sharing here😅

Accurate one👍

Dispute lies for copper, pressure cooker which are open to interpretation.

Mitochondrial genetic disorders can be caused by changes (mutations) in either the mitochondrial DNA or nuclear DNA that lead to dysfunction of the mitochondria and inadequate production of energy. Those caused by mutations in mitochondrial DNA are transmitted by maternal inheritance, while those caused by mutations in nuclear DNA may follow an autosomal dominantautosomal recessive, or X-linked pattern of inheritance.[1][3] Treatment varies based on the specific type of condition and the signs and symptoms present in each person.
