Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.
@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?
This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.
@Amarbabu they will not do such thing. They will certainly not try glorifing UPSC exam. max 3 months will be given
See if they postpone the exams by 1-2 weeks then they might consider not changing the mains date.
But if they postpone the exam by months then they would have to release a new date for mains and in that scenario it may happen that 3 months gap is given.
Although I believe if dates are changed then UPSC may try to follow the earlier calendar of taking Prelims in August and so on. Since if they announce a date they would want to stick to it and would certainly keep sufficient cushion for situation to get normalised.
But these things cannot be assumed with surety.

Sirjee,
In my distriLct
- Last year centers and list of people have been brought on table but not updated because it was to be done in March
- No documents have reached the district. There is no information also
UPDC is not holding regular meeting. The office is open with limited capacity only.
My district is one of the designated centers , and I keep tab on the news. There is no movement till now with respect to UPSC exam and it is the last priority as of now.
UPSC will meet on May 3 and give new dates in most likelihood.

The article also says -
1. many of these venues have been made quarantine centers and therefore, new centers will have to be identified. Students may also have to move inter-state in this case.
2. Admit cards have been made but we will have to change the venues in admit cards according to ground position.
3. some states have shut schools till 17th June, cannot hold exam without cooperation from such states.

Is there any example where a public body in India paid heed to change.org, formally or informally? I couldn't find any concrete case online.
Different note, sending a well drafted retirement message to chairman might work better, emotionally atleast. He retires on 7/August/20.
