What is the longest time you kept a laptop?

I am thinking of buying apple laptop. My old laptop is from 2015. What is the oldest laptop you have kept?

Have a Dell laptop which I asked my parents to buy to help me "study" in 7th standard :P It turned 12 this year. Takes 15 minutes to boot up and another 10 minutes to open chrome but hey, still works!

Can't go wrong with MacBooks or any Apple products for that matter. Longevity is unparalleled and they don't become unusable after a few years, rather you get bored of it. Friend's MacBook Pro still works as good as new after 5 years.

Don’t know if it counts. But I used my old iPad for 7 years, besides slowing down a little and battery draining out, she’s still a beauty

My hp dv6 3043 will complete 11 years in a couple of days
I've been using Lenovo G560 (i3) since 2012. It kind of gave up last year. Then, I chose to install a 256 GB SSD over purchasing a new laptop. It's fast and hot now. I think it can go for another 5 years or so.

Using my Macbook Air 2014 with a dual-core i5 and 4GB RAM every day since 2014.
Entered into 7th year of using it daily with an average use of 8+ hours per day.
Looks & feels fairly new still today.
Gives battery backup of 5+ hours (although half from what it was, still good enough).
I know 6 more people who brought Macbooks same time as me, all still running beautifully to this day.

The only reason I am thinking about updating is its measly 4GB RAM.
Given that my phone has 6GB, 4RGB RAM is pretty limiting, especially when chrome eats up half of it straight away.
Giving this old one to my brother, who is a casual user. I think this will last 3 more years.

If you are planning to buy a Mac, make sure the RAM is adequate and plan ahead for at least 5 years.
If you can afford it, go for the 16GB variant.
And don't go for the M1 Macbook Pro, it's essentially the same as the M1 Macbook Air with the addition of a fan.
