Which is the best pen for UPSC Mains?

I had almost narrowed down on pilot v5 as the best pen over, considering the nib size and the speed that it gives.

And then one fateful day, water spilled over my notes, and everything was gone.

NEVER USED PILOT PEN AGAIN. CAN'T RISK USING A NON-WATERPROOF PEN TO WRITE MAINS.

Pilot G2 (easily available)

Add Achiever (can get in offline store)

tried uniball air once, writing speed was good but thickness is inconsistent

Uniball air is one of the best. But too expensive.

Uniball

  • Stronger nib than pilot(quite sensitive eh) and lasts longer
  • Waterproof
  • Consistent ink flow from start to end
  • Refillable version replaces nib too(like trimax refill), unlike Pilot Cartridge where whole pen is useless if your nib is destroyed.

People looking for cheap alternative to Uniball eye can check Uniball Refillable 215. It has same roller tech and nib used in eye and refill costs 25/-.

Exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks for the suggestion.

What's wrong with V5 except these two shortcomings?

1. Delicate nib - breaks often, specially for people with tight grip.

2. Not waterproof.

V5 being not waterproof is the biggest drawback of that pen for me.

What if I spill water on the sheets by mistake?

What if the invigilators spill water on the sheets by mistake?

What if the paper checker spills water on the sheets by mistake?

Can't risk years of preparation just because the pen wasn't waterproof.

P. S: This is just a personal opinion. I'm usually quite optimistic , but this is TOO RISKY..

Had never considered this angle. Looks like I might need to look at some waterproof pens. Any suggestions?

Got this from YouTube

I use V7 but thinking to try Hauser gel & Trimax

Good friends of forum, after countless hours of YouTube pen reviews (that is a thing, I just learnt as well), I have found the hauser crystal gel. I just got it, so like all things new, the excitement of being owned by a person is motivating my pen to work really well. Let’s see how long this relationship lasts as well as how we weather the “middle period”. Will we be a success or simply a “middling” relationship? Shall keep you guys posted

Did you get it online? Please share the link, kind soul!

Btw I checked and it’s available on Amazon

Looks promising!!
