The question says whether Parliament's approval is required for revocation of emergency. For proclamation an approval is surely required. But for continuation as you said, and for subsequent revocation too it's not required. I am not 100% sure though. But it makes sense that if parliamen't approval isn't required for continuation, why would it be required to remove it?@AureliusM It needs to be approved by the parliament upon proclamation. However, parliamentary approval for its continuation isn’t required.
Ohh. Okay. Saw it again. Got it. Thanks!!@AureliusM It says once proclaimed, the financial emergency continues without parliamentary approval. Which is not correct, after emergency is proclaimed by the president it needs to be laid before the parliament for approval within 2months. However, my doubt is regarding the third statement
Isn't the question about GDP and not the rate of GDP steadily increasing? So even if rate of GDP growth has decreased, in a couple of years, the GDP itself has increased steadily. Please correct me if I am wrong.Would the first statement be correct now given that GDP contracted in Q1 of 2020?
This is a 2011 question I think.
And not just on basis on 2020 contraction, GDP has not steadily increased.
2019 was 5.02%, a 1.1% decline from 2018.
2018 was 6.12%, a 0.92% decline from 2017.
2017 was 7.04%, a 1.21% decline from 2016.
2016 was 8.26%, a 0.26% increase from 2015
For the second statement though, where it explicitly mentions rate of per capita income, I guess we can say it has not steadily increased.
I think you read it in one of the Vision tests. I read it there.
Indus valley script was bidirectional, isn't it?As per many sources, IVC script was written boustrophedonically.(Bidirectional) But this is not certain, and many claim that it was written right to left.
NCERT suggests that it was written from right to left.
Thanks!
Had read somewhere about its bidirectionality. The old NCERT doesn't mention about the direction of the script writing. However, since new ncert mentions it then will follow that fact in future.
Yes, but there was a very specific reason he wanted to stay away from the company. Just staying away from the company doesn't make sense. A/c to wikipedia article(I know, not the most reliable but this statement was not pointed out for incorrect citation), Mir Qasim moved his company to Munger to raise his army by streamlining taxes and improving finances.
Isn't the 2nd statement correct too?
'mainly'
Primary reason was to be away from the British. Army remodelling is location independent to an extent.

Would love for others to jump in and give their views.
I answered A because from whatever I had read it seemed that Mir Kasim wanted some breathing space from the British. Both options can be true, but A seemed more probably because remodelling the army is a second order effect. What I mean is, first he wanted to be away from EIC and then later he would be able focus on building his army as a result of being away from Calcutta.
I think both the options can be correct, Spectrum mentions that the reason behind the move was to "allow a safe distance from the Company at Calcutta"
https://en.banglapedia.org/index.php?title=Mir_Qasim
"He next began to raise a force of disciplined troops, and to secure himself from undue interference from Calcutta he transferred his capital from the riverine Murshidabad to the hilly district of Monghyr."
Yep. Both the options seem correct.
For space, I feel UPSC is not focusing on 'smaller' missions like going to Mars and Moon. It's going for more 'exotic' missions like e-LISA which is a Gravitational wave observatory just like LIGO which was asked couple of years ago. So, that maybe narrows down a little bit. What are the important topics for Science & Tech? Please comment what you feel!
- Nuclear treaty and nuclear Energy- Biotech (Gene editing, GM crop, RNA, DNA, embryo twinning)
- Space related ( Perseverance, Chandrayaan, Debris)
- IT (5g, AI, Quantum, Blockchain, data security related)
- Health - VAccine
-Energy( geothermal, Hydrogen gas, fuel cells, solar )
It seems like it. Had the same doubt while reading about Caracal.https://indianexpress.com/article/explained/explained-the-caracal-a-favourite-of-royals-now-critically-endangered-7206724/
Does NBWL maintain a separate list of critically endangered species? This one is of least concern acc. to IUCN

Consider the following statement about Pegasus which has been in news recently.
1- It is a software especially designed for cyber surveillance only.
2- It can be installed either physically or virtually.
3- The installation of software require multiple clicks by the targetted person.
4- It employs Zero Click attack.
Select the correct option.
a- 2,3,4
b-1,2,4
c-1,2,3
d- 2 and 4 only
It looks like B. I don't know about any other use of Pegasus other than cyber surveillance.
1. Which of the following provisions of constitution have a bearing on education?
1. DPSP
2. Rural and ULBs
3. 5th schedule
4. 6th schedule
5. 7th schedule
options:
(a) 1 and 2 only
(b) 3,4, 5 only
(c) 1, 2, and 5 only
(d) 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5
The key printed in the book says (c) but why won’t it be (d)?
2. Is there a mention of no-confidence motion in the constitution?
I think the options are framed incorrectly. Schedule 6 clearly says that ADCs can make laws on primary and secondary education. Schedule 5 is not concerned with education however. Its powers are much more limited wrt 6th schedule.
Ohh. Damn. If the answer key says so, then I'll consider myself corrected.1. Which of the following provisions of constitution have a bearing on education?

This a PYQ from 2012 and 5th schedule areas in MH, AP and TL do have limited functions wrt improving technical education (I don’t know if that counts?)
The magnetic field is used to contain the hot plasma. I don't think it is used to generate power. Power is generated by fusion only. But Forum's key says answer is D.
In my classroom, the invigilator in the 2nd sitting while distributing answer sheets, didn't put answer sheets on empty benches but kept the question papers on them. Will that create some kind of issue? Any clue anyone?
(Also, no heart to check the answer keys if there is any - what a clusterbomb the paper was)
