SFG is a unique initiative by ForumIAS designed to test the discipline, dedication, and perseverance of aspirants through daily tests at 7 AM, conducted 5–6 days a week based on a pre-planned syllabus, followed by comprehensive discussions.
About SFG and How It Is Conducted
SFG is a test-based program for Civil Services Prelims, where GS tests are conducted five days a week at 7 AM, across several cities and centres. Students receive a daily rank list within a few hours of taking the test, along with weekly rankings to track their performance. The tests are followed by comprehensive post-test discussions.
At the end of each month (four weeks), a monthly rank list is published. Based on their performance, students are reassigned to SFG, RLG, or the Not Selected category. Students who are not selected cannot continue into the next month. This system helps maintain a competitive environment and encourages students to remain disciplined and consistent throughout their preparation.
Over the years, many SFG aspirants have successfully cleared the UPSC CSE and gone on to train at LBSNAA. You may well meet some of your fellow SFG aspirants there.
SFG is conducted in two levels – Level-1 and Level-2, each typically lasting around 8–9 weeks. Level-1 begins in the third week of December and continues until late February. Level-2 begins in the first week of March and concludes approximately 3–4 weeks before the UPSC Prelims Exam. Level-1 primarily focuses on questions based on standard books.
SFG 2027 Level-1 is commencing on 21 December 2026. In this level, we will focus on:
- Coverage of NCERTs and standard basic books.
- Coverage of both static and current affairs topics relevant to General Studies Paper-I.
- Questions with a pattern and difficulty level similar to the UPSC CSE Prelims Exam.
- Developing analytical skills, conceptual clarity, and knowledge consolidation.
- Dedicated CSAT tests every Saturday, with scores counted towards the overall ranking.
- Comprehensive coverage of Previous Year Questions (PYQs) from each topic as per the schedule.
