The government of India has decided to relax the upper age limit for aspirants of Jammu and Kashmir. The new upper limit for the candidates from J&K has been extended to 37 years till the end of next year for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
Until August 2014, the lower age limit for UPSC examination was 21 years while the upper age limit was 32 years.
According to the Department of Personnel and Training, (DoPT),”The central government has decided to extend the age relaxation to all persons who had ordinarily been domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir from January 1, 1980 to December 31, 1989 for a further period of two years beyond December 31, 2013.”
The upper age limit can be relaxed upto five years in case a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir from January 1, 1980 to December 31, 1989 as the civil services 2014 notification clearly states.
The DoPT had also asked other departments like the Ministry of Railways, Department of Public Enterprises, Department of Financial Services, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Electronics, Department of Space as well as the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to relax the upper age limit for Jammu and Kashmir candidates.
