Explanations
Things to note in general: Since D is J’s husband, D-J will always come together. After that, since J sits next to B, D-J-B will always come together. Further, since K’s husband cant sit at 1, K never sits at position 2 (apart from also never sitting at position 10).
1. J is at 4, which implies D-J-B is at 3,4 and 5. Now, the female positions available to K are 6 and 8.
If K is at 6, K’s husband will be at 5 and sitting next to H at 4. But 4 is already occupied by J. So K is not at 6 but at 8. And H is next to K’s husband at 6.
2. K sits as close as possible to H, but not next to her(H’s) husband. So positionally, they cant be represented as K-(H’s husband)-H but are represented as: H-(K’s husband)-K.
Couple D and J are sitting in the middle of row => D-J-B are at 5,6 and 7.
Now, the two spots available to H-(K’s husband)-K are at 2, 3 and 4 or at 8, 9 and 10. K cannot come at 10, so H-(K’s husband)-K can only be at 2, 3 and 4.
3. Given, C is at 9 and H is at 8.
Since A is K’s husband and sits next to B’s wife, a chain can be formed as: D-J-B-(B’s wife)-A-K. This chain of six people can only come in positions 1,2,3,4,5, and 6. Now, only one male seat is available at 7 and it is filled by the one remaining man: C. So, C is H’s husband.
4. K is at the 6th seat.
D is not sitting in the first seat, so D-J-B can be either at 3, 4 and 5 or at 7, 8 and 9. But if D-J-B is at 3, 4 and 5, then B becomes K’s husband. Which cannot happen in this question. So, D-J-B is at 7, 8 and 9. So, D will be at 7 next to K at 6.
Who is on the seat on the other side of K at 5 is not determinable with this info. So, we have to go with D on one side of K as the correct answer here.
5. D is the second husband from the left and I is B’s wife. So, D-J-B-I are at 3,4,5 and 6.
Hence, the only female seat available for K is 8th.
H sits at a distance as far as possible from K => H is at 2.
The only female left now is G, and she will sit at the only remaining female available position i.e. 10.
