  • Banking on the RuPay – Good to know information about RuPay.
  • Will the new gold monetisation scheme glitter? -Understand the GoI gold monetisation scheme and its impact on economy.Good to know information:
    1. Gold Monetisation Scheme is fairly a good move to reduce GoI India’s gold import.
    2. Under the scheme, either individual or institutions can keep their gold deposits with the bank and bank in-return gives them interest.
    3. The RoI (rate of interest) is yet to be decided, but experts say it should be around 5 to 6 percent.
    4. Similar scheme was launched in 1999 but could not yield the desired result due to inherent problems.

  • Modi’s day in Dhaka – Important point:
    1. Government of India  realized that if they do not move and forge friendly ties with its immediate neighbor, it may quickly turn to other regional player i.e. China. In that sense , PM visit and LBA are very much important
    2. It would help to  put in place a road map to reduce the trade gap, facilitate transit and trans-shipment, and finally to promise a solution on Teesta river-water sharing.

  • Code of conduct is in place, focus on LAC clarification, Beijing told  –  Important points
    1. Special representatives from both the countries toiling to fixed the LAC.
    2. The LAC clarification process has been pending since long.
    3. LAC clarification process had fully commenced following the 1996 CBM accord where there was an agreement to exchange maps indicating the “respective perceptions” of the two sides regarding “the entire alignment of the LAC as soon as possible.But it is yet to take off.

  • What does it mean to belong? –

    The article is written in the backdrop of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat statement related to ghar wapsi.

    Central theme:  This article critically examined the concept of ‘belongingness’ vis-à-vis a person or community and emphasized that the concept has two meanings. In one sense a person has great amount of affection for and identify with a place or people or institutions whereas in other sense a person is in a possession of the place or people or institutions. First meaning of belongingness reflects the sense of togetherness or oneness whereas the second meaning indicates the authority or possession. In order to attain the sense of togetherness we often ignore the other.

  • Two States, one challenge –  The formation of  a small state is a process fraught with complexity.  This articles  highlights the underlying issues and suggested the way forward  to resolve the dispute which arouse between Telagana and A P, due to less resources available to the the former.Central theme: The two state should put behind the distrust and bitterness that preceded the bifurcation process, and get down to the real issues. 
  • Black money: pinning the shadow down –Central theme: The steps taken so far, and this includes the Black Money Bill, to bring back an estimated $1.5 trillion stashed abroad are completely ineffective. There are better and stronger solutions available. Read and get enlightened.

    1. Maoist is a key security challenge in Chattisgarh.
    2. The Salwa Judum was launched as a “people’s movement” to counter the Maoists a decade ago .
    3. But it made no effective progress rather it help Maoist to give social legitmacy in Chattisgarh.
    4. However this group appears reviving again and in this light this article raise important questions and concludes  that  Private militias don’t have a place in a democracy.Government must not let Salwa Judum return in any form.
