SOLUTIONS TO DAILY CSAT MISSION # 88
1. (A) 2. (A) 3. (D) 4. (A) 5. (C)
Explanations
1. Let ‘c’ be 100. If ‘b’ is 100% more than ‘c’ then ‘b’ = 200. Therefore, ‘a’ is 20% more than ‘b’ and is 240.
Now, ‘d’ being 20% more than ‘c’, is 120. So ratios of d:a = 120;240 = 1:2 (or 3:6 as given in one of the options).
2. He has reached 25 marks 37 times, and reached 50 marks 21 times. So, number of times he has scored at least 25 marks but not more than 50 marks is 37 – 21 = 16.
If he has given 85 tests and has passed 25 marks 37 times, then he has failed to cross 25 marks 85 – 37 = 48 times. So, if 16 is 100%, 48 will be 300%.
3. Bring me Water = NET. Water is cold = TSO.
Common Term on both is Water and T respectively. Hence code for water is T
Thus codes for Bring & Me can be N & E (not in same order)
Codes for Is & Cold can be S & O (not in same order)
Hence Code for “Bring Cold Water” will have exactly one of N or E and exactly one of S or O.
Hence option D.
4. While Q is swimming for 10 secs, his velocity = 2 m/s and river’s velocity = 1 m/s. So, he covers 1 m in each second i.e. 10 metres in the 10 secs. While he is resting for 2 secs, the river pushes him back for 2 secs at 1 m/s i.e. 2 metres. So, every 12 seconds, he covers a combined distance of 8 metres (10m forward and 2m backward). So in 120 seconds (2 minutes), he will only be able to cover 80 of the 200 metres he needed to cover at the start.
But P is not staying stil at one point. The river is pushing him along at the river’s speed of 1 m/s. So, in 120 seconds, the river will carry him 120 metres downriver towards Q. Both of them will thus be able to meet each other and Q will be able to save P just in time.
5. On machine 1 amount paid = (6 * 2) + 0 + (3 * 2) = Rs 18. On machine 2 amount paid = (6 * 2) + 0 + (6 * 2) + 0 + (1 * 2) = Rs 26. On machine 3 amount paid = (6 * 2) + 0 + (6 * 2) = Rs 12. On machine 4 amount paid = (6 * 2) + 0 + (6 * 2) = Rs 24. On machine 5 amount paid = (6 * 2) + 0 + (6 * 2) + 0 + (6 * 2) + 0 + (1 * 2) = Rs 38. Therefore, total sum = Rs 118.
