About the Diatom question, I think it comes from the recent appearances of discourse on Pelagic Ooze in news. Calcerous Ooze is not found on great depths, so Diatoms (since their dead forms become Silaceous Ooze) are a principle component of Marine Snow.
Trick question, but I could easily answer coz I knew Diatom = silica.

” In the youth or early stage a river has no or very narrow floodplains” – Is it not young rivers have greater flood plains .. Himalayan rivers are young and causes devastating damage in their river basins every year. Rivers at older age(South Indian rivers) will make lateral erosions and have wider courses but they wont cause floods as damaging as younger ones My analysis was young rivers will be as aggressive as Kohli and wreck havoc everything .Can somebody help me to understand if I am missing something?
Hi Thinker,

Bhai, abhi NCERT ke peeche mat bhaago, time gaya. Science and Technology is almost entirely current affairs based. Focus on that. Usme jo naye terms milte hain unko padh lo bas.
Polar caps although are called freshwater sources but actually have salt in them. Its just that entire salt is precipitated deep below the ice sheets.
This should ring some bells.
Exactly! I was wondering if someone read between the lines.

Query: atmospheric circulation can be effect of temp …
Yes, cause and effect separation is difficult here…

waise it is advisable to do biology section from class 6 to 10th ..
and from 11th and 12th (very beautifully these ncert covered sci tech like genetics transgenic biomedical technology etc), provided you have time for the same.
if you want to have an idea and knowledge about such terms please go through ncert 6,7,8..thats sufficient.

Was Gas hydrates come in news in 2016-2017 ??
whenever ice forms in saline water ; it discharges the salt from hard ice ; thus remaining water will have high salinity than normal days .
So nice explanation ๐

4/5. Didn’t know about diatom
–Diatoms are a major group of algae, and are among the most common types of phytoplankton. Diatoms are unicellular, although they can form colonies.Diatoms are producers within the food chain. A unique feature of diatom cells is that they are enclosed within a cell wall made of silica (hydrated silicon dioxide) called a frustule. These frustules show a wide diversity in form, but are usually almost bilaterally symmetrical, hence the group name.
–Gas hydrate is a solid ice-like form of water that contains gas molecules in its molecular cavities. In nature, this gas is mostly methane. The gas hydrate stability zone extends into the seafloor sediments down to a depth where temperature exceeds gas hydrate stability. At this depth, thin methane gas layers are often present causing strong reflections in seismic records. The reflections approximately follow a line of constant temperature. Temperature in the subsurface is a function of heat flow and depth, so the reflections usually mimic the shape of the seafloor. Hence, they are named bottom simulating reflections (BSRs).
