They did rear woolly sheep. They also had a big trade with Mesopotamia on woollen textiles.
The trap is the word ‘first’, wool was used since prehistory, it was one of the first clothing utilized by humans. In fact, even Neanderthals used wool and leather, but cotton was first discovered for textile use thousands of years later by modern men.
11th std history book of TN says neolithic people were using cotton and wool before IVC

Thanks sir
@forumias-7f07ca326ce76cdde680e4b3d568bce8:disqus the following link suggests that Cotton and wool textile were prevalent in IVC. Please clarify….I also remember (though vaguely) to read this in one of the history NCERTs ….https://www.harappa.com/content/what-did-indus-people-wear-and-what-material-were-their-clothes-made
Btw, thank you very much for you sincere efforts….

So this means – During this period, for the first time clothes made of cotton and wool were used in India. – this statement is indeed TRUE ???
Hence, answer should be 1 and 3 ??

Not sure about that only a reference to woven textile mentioned. Can be taken as wool.
NCERT says wool was used…. u can check… here answer is wrong
There us no trap in the question.. Indus civilization is the 1st civilization of india.. In the NCERT it self says wool was used…. there.. But many coaching material says no used..
what about woolen clothes ?
Trace of cotton found at mohenjodaro also Mesopotamian text mentions trade in cotton with meluha i. E harappa. And evidence of spindle whorls suggest existence of these cloths. No prior evidence found so it should be for the first time.
Abhi, as far as I have read, us statement mein “wool” ka mention wrong hai. There lies the trap.
Indus people were the first to produce cotton in the world.
Small fragments of cloth preserved in corroded articles show that Indus people wove cotton cloth.
But ye surenahi hai ke they reared woolly sheep.
This was my understanding.

It is generally considered centralised but it is debated issue. Don’t go that deep gs level history won’t go that deep. The debate do persist at optional level.

Hello @forumias-7f07ca326ce76cdde680e4b3d568bce8:disqus sir and dear friends,
Can anyone explain why MAURYAN empire was known as CENTRALISED one, when –>
In distant areas, Mauryan imperial authority may not have been effective.
Provinces were governed by KUMARA or prince, thus each governor hailed from the royal family. The princely governors may have functioned as autonomous rulers and some governors oppressed their subjects. Though authority of Ashoka was never seriously questioned.
Does this mean that Mauryan empire could have been decentralised for some time.
