Its Final: CSAT Made Qualifying, Marks not be added for Prelims Cut Off

The Govt’s Press Information Bureau Release had directed the Union Public Service Commission to make the CSAT paper qualifying in nature.

This had created a lot of confusion because of the wordings of the press release, as well as Interpretation of the words “qualifying.”

Then the UPSC also came with a release saying their official notification which was supposed to be released on May 16, would be delayed.

However, according to an official memo, a copy of which has been posted by a ForumIAS user and is attached below, the changes as dictated by the Government to Union Public Service Commission have been accepted by the Commission.

  • CSAT Paper is qualifying, officially. Its marks will not be added in Prelims Cut Off
  • Candidates have to score a minimum qualifying marks of 33% in CSAT to clear Prelims.
  • Number of posts for 2015: 1129
  • Expected Date of Notification: 23 May , 2015

    What if they make csat 2015 like banking test 66 is seriously high then. Just a feeling.

    Any campaigns for bringing CSAT back into cutoff calculation or ensure increasing the minimum qualifying marks?

    thanks for help along with that,
    can u give daily ten to 15 topic links under each topic link we will make on self mcq or old ?s and discuss
    at the end of the day delete unnecessary one so that in future we can come here and revise the topic.
    reading topic only without questioning is not fetching much this way helps us to remember for long period.

    Dear Team,

    In regard to recent update from UPSC , CSAT has been made qualifying in nature. One need to score only 33% marks to get qualified.

    So , shall we start pressing on more towards General Studies Paper-1 as it involves a huge syllabus.

    Request you to start a similar kind of initiative for Paper-1 as well by adhering to trends in recent years.
