  • Now, 0.5% cess on services to support Swachh Bharat –  To fund the Swachh Bharat mission government has introduced a cess of 0.5% on all services and 2% on air services. The proceeds from cess will go to Swachh Bharat Kosh. There is a proposed cess for regional connectivity fund which is slated to be introduced in new year. (Government Policies – GS Paper II)
  • In India, unemployment rate still high – In a data emerging from CENSUS 20111 15 % of highly qualified individuals (graduate, post -graduate & technical degrees) are unemployed. Out of 11.6 crore individuals seeking job 84 million were literate. (Unemployment – GS Paper III)
  • Countries met only half of emissions target: UN report – In wake of Paris Meet that is going to be held in December United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) brought Emission gap report which states that world is not even able to meet half its emission target. It also talk about Intended National Development Goals where every country has projected emission cut by 2030. This is also falling short of emission cut required to keep earth temperature from rising beyond 2 Celsius.   • Centre may de-canalise urea imports – The importers of urea get their imported products through three canalising companies. Govt. is seeking to overturn this method and allow importers to directly buy from exporters. (Indian Economy – GS Paper II)
