Winter Session 2014 – all the legislative business that transpired

In the four weeks of Winter Session so far, productivity of Lok Sabha is at 102% while of Rajya Sabha is at 62%.

The session saw the NDA government, which is in a minority in the Upper House, struggling to get things done, as a united Opposition emerged much stronger than in the Lower House. Rajya Sabha is still to take up crucial Bills relating to facilitation of auction of coal blocks, enhancing FDI limit in the capital starved insurance sector. This imbalance of power in Rajya Sabha is troubling the government. However, the Government has the option to take ordinance route for Coal and Insurance Bills.
