A beginner problem, suggestions please.

its been 2 months since i started prep, i do have a broad plan as in kab tak kya karna hai.

->As i am trying to cover basic subjects/topics, i get stuck somedays, overwhelmed by syllabus and the plathora of sub topics, while reading newspaper and i see a article and get that its imp and related to so and so topic from so and so paper, and want to note that town, but then i haven't covered that topic particularly and i dont have any notes on that topic where i can add that imp issue related to that topic

->then i end up in anxiety and contemplation as to how do i organise all this, when i havent even completed the syllabus yet, i dont have notes, but the news is imp, aur fir optional dimag mei aa jata hai, wo bhi achhe se karna hai?, fir to dimag kafi kharab ho jata hai aur wapas line pe ana mushkil.

@khabhacheed This is more common than you think. I will give you some pointers to solve your problems at hand.

1. Try to follow a Test Series schedule. You must be able to cover at least 70% of the syllabus before a Test. even 50% is good. Otherwise, with the self study pace you are currently going, by December you will be in the same place where you are right now.

2. Restrict newspaper reading to not more than 90 minutes. If you are a beginner, you will always feel greedy about the sentences , lines and ideas in the editorial, so much so that you would want to note downeverything. Move away from that temptation. For Mains and Prelims, refer to your classes and compilations.

3. Do not make Pre oriented notes from newspaper. For Mains, always think of examples and value addition only. If it is an important issue, you will get it covered well in the compilation/ classes that you take.

4. Focus on the Static foundational subject. You do not haveforeverto finish them. You must ensure that you have done Polity, Economy, History, Geography, SnT very well from both Pre and Mains perspective. ( It is kinda impossible to only do for Mains for these subjects ).

5. If possible take some classes. Join a founfation course if you will. Some people think sitting for 3 hours in a class and making notes is waste of time, with your hands tired and bleeding. This is called preparation. What can be done by one class in 3 hours, you may sometimes be able to do in say 5-6 hours. So that makes a case for doing things on your own. However, what can be done in 15-20 classes will almost always take you anywhere between 30-60 days.

6. Always either be fully into prep or be fully out of prep. There is no middle ground. There is no mild - mild chalta hai approach to Civils preparation. It is a toughly competed exam. I am alsost scared at the insane level of competition and improvements that students have made in the past 3-4 years. Forum may also have a part in increasing the competition level with programs like SFG - without which many people ( that I know ) would not have cleared prelims.

7. Last and least, have faith in yourself. If you do not faith in what you are doing, you won't make progress. Its like hanging from a rope trying to climb a mountain cliff. The very doubt that the rope will snap - will make you stuck. You can neither go up nor down. Avoid doubt.

8. Wrong decisions are better than no decisions. That is because decisions are right or wrong in the hindsight. Sometimes, it is us who make the decisions right or wrong.

9. People who try to do everything end up doing nothing properly.  Limit what you do, and develop a strng ethic around what you do. This means you should have a brand value around you. If you have done Laxikant chapter well, your teacher/ mentor should be assured that you will answer any questions from there. This interestingly varies from student to student. Two students , claiming to have read the same book will produce different score in a Objective Test on the same. That will depend on their work ethic and sincerity. Work on that aspect.
