Anecdotes, Facts, Examples for GS and Essay

I will start. As per SIPRI, world spent $2 trillion on military in 2020. Jeffery Sachs estimates that we need around $3.5 trillion spread over 20 years to eliminate global poverty. So if we are able to cut down our military expenditures for few years we will have enough money to deal with problems such as poverty and climate change. A lesson for ethics in international relations?

@nerdfighter I think "stop, think and apply" should be motto. The best thing would be if we are able to use such things in the next test or the practice answers we write. But I am myself struggling with this. I have read so much interesting stuff during the course of my preparation, but none of it reflects in my answers.

Although I appreciate people posting stuff, I think it will be better if we have some discussion too. Otherwise we won't internalise stuff. One way of doing that could be following a certain structure. For example, one persons posts some example, data or quote (as briefly as possible), others reply with areas of syllabus or types of questions where that item can be used. What do you guys think?

there was this article in the Indian Express which talked about gender equality

The Humanity has two wings- one man and second woman. Not until both the wings developed, can the bird fly? Not until the world of women becomes equal to the world of men in acquisition of virtues and perfection, Can success and prosperity be attained as they ought to be? - Abdul'baha

In gender equality, we should probably use something that talks about equality of all genders not just the two sexes.

If someone has a good quote about equality of all human beings, please share. I could not find any good one. It will be useful in all types of questions, gender, caste, ethnicity.

I agree with your viewpoint. How would you want to take the discussion ahead? On a separate thread or over some post here

If others agree, we can do it here itself. Rather than posting long paras, we can post key idea or fact in 3-4 lines. Others should then comment on it. Its relevance, whether they agree or disagree, any other key related key idea or fact etc.
