Very frankly these online entrance tests, be it for SFG or for this, seem totally unnecessary. For offline SFG, it made sense as top 100 were given fee relaxation + discussion classes. But now in online mode it does not make sense at all. If it.s about the financial side of things then please increase the registration fees, but taking tests like this in online medium with vague questions and no evaluation makes a mockery of the entire process and simply puts the institute in bad light.

For someone writing first Mains and with very little previous preparation of either optional or the GS papers, would it be advisable to join AWFG ?

After reading the experiences of some people who joined earlier, i get a feel that the course is without doubt very intensive (which may leave little time to prepare optional) and without a proper peer group you may not be able to derive the full benefits of the programme as there.s no evaluation and you.d be stuck in your own bubble ..

It would really helpful if someone can share their views. @Hayagreeva

@Neyawn Sir, some guidance please.

Hello I was expecting marks/rank.

चिंता न करो ! सब का कटा है ! Everyone was expecting a rank list of sorts.

But if it means something, I am just glad to see thecompetitive spirit of everyonehere !

In hindsight, expecting rank and marks for questions like ,"what is your story" or "what can forumias do to be better" was actually a bit naïve. But yes, I was expecting to see the reviewed sheets at least. Comments are necessary to gauge whether the direction is right.

Anyway. Best of luck for AWFG. Lets be Consistent and improve with every answer that we write. Ranks and marks will take care of themselves.

When we do walk out of that exam hall on 18th of January at 5:00 PM, the feeling should be ,"I prepared well. I gave my all" instead of " काश थोड़ा और....."

Cheers :)

Here’s my suggestion ,

I feel lot of aspirants would have joined test series (MGP/Vision/Insights/GS Score etc) and some may also join AWFG. So invariably a decent amount of answer writing would be covered by end of December by coaching. What aspirants may find difficult this year is their content. Why so ?

1. Lesser time to finish off left subjects and lesser time to revise everything thoroughly enough number of times

2. Roughly for 6-9 months, the aspirants were into prelims mode, which means their mains current affair is severely lacking and a long time has elapsed since their revision done.

3. Style of UPSC questions in two years has changed, requires broad issue analysis

In light of above, I feel collaborative effort would be beneficial in the area of content/issue.

Just a random outline of what could be done :-

1. Let the GS 4 thread continue for answer writing since ethics requires more answer writing practise

2. We can use GS 1,2,3 thread for issue analysis/note making.

2a. 1 topic/issue each day can be picked up on GS 1,2,3 thread (so that will be 3 topic/issue every day)

2b. The topic/issue can be from monthly current affair or newspaper

2c. The task of choosing topic/issue can be delegated to willing aspirants on per day basis (eg. if we have 7 willing aspirants, we allocate days to them when they would choose topic/issue)

2d. Once topic is chosen for the day, that day constructive analysis and/or notes can be discussed strictly from UPSC point of view

2e. Even we follow this for 7-8 weeks, we should have roughly something substantial on 50-60 topics/issues. And this will take care of our content to a huge extent and also develop some multidimensional thinking on topics.

The above is just a thought, open to hearing what you think about it.

I am in. Just one input-  delegation to a selected few may reduce participation. It's very likely that we all may have varying schedules. Issues can be listed and we can start writing it out. I, for one, have prepared in this manner in past wherein I picked 2-3 important issues and made my notes on it. For example, Prisoner Reforms. These are topics which are important and relevant but we wouldn't find gists in one book/compilation. Let's improvise while we do it?

With all the information, schedule, mode of operation in public domain, whether to not join will be your call.

However, for anyone writing first mains, optional should be first priority. I learnt this hard way. It yields very high return on investment. Optionals reward you handsomely for each extra thing you put into. But this is not the case with GS.

Good optional can compensate for below average GS but even extra ordinary GS can't compensate for sub par optional.

I wish you all the best.

Guys, apart from AWFG pour in suggestions how to best utilize forum for mains. We have a few answer writing threads for GS. Anything else? Collaborative effort always has yielded better results.

@forumiasacademy Why is my name not there in selected list ? I don’t buy this that 400 people wrote better answers and I was the 501st candidate whom you chucked off?

And she's got some rank in upsc 2019(quoted by forumias itself) and now she's not selected in awfg. That's high level swag from forum 😅

@forumiasacademy Hi, this isimportant! In the instruction sheet attached in the email, it is mentioned that the answers should be written in the question cum answer (QCA) booklet attached therein. A lot of us aspirants who aren't in New Delhi don't have the luxury of a printer shop nearby our houses and hence I would request you to allow writing the answers on A4 sheets and uploading the same.

Hello everyone.

This group was formed with a purpose in 2018 to read, evaluate each others answers. And to benefit from it. It was aligned with AWFG program to maintain the quality of questions we attend.

So, it is time once again. I shall be sharing the questions daily. What we all have to do is,

✓ write atleast a few answers

✓ read , and may be review others

✓ via this exercise add on to your existing knowledge base.

Do make sure that you write the test. Because you will definitely add on to it. This group already has some selected candidates and mentors as well.

✓ check the question paper by 7 am.

✓ start reviewing by 11, so that everyone is able to see most of the files without much effort.

Those who are not sending their answers, kindly review. But please do contribute.

Also, to those whose copies are being reviewed by others. Do reciprocate and make the same efforts by reviewing other answers.

I hope we all shall be able to add on to our preparation via this group effort. Let's make it worth.

Regards.

Alankrit ❤

@ForumIAS-AcademyFirst of all, thank you.

Why have rigid 2 tests per paper like rigid approach. GS 1 requires more tests then have them, same with GS3. Like last year, IIRC, where we had more than 2 full weeks for GS4. Such detail was necessary, I mean I know people who prepared entire GS4 in that period, they were thankful for the attention AWG had with GS4. AWG was about completing syllabus, making notes, having meaningful readymade content at disposal, and writing fast. In that sense FLTs can be reduced, even you can say I am not very much excited for FLTs in AWG. We have MGPs and other test series for that purpose.

Let me tell you something, the AWG model 7 question per hour was so wonderful that we continued even after completion of AWG till mains. However, that time had like 3 AWG sessions each in the morning, afternoon, and night. By this way we wrote FLTs of other major coaching that we purchased from market.

So my suggestion would be focus on micro approach, that is what separates AWG from other test series and complete a paper together.
