CSE 2021: Plan / Strategy / Daily Routine

Preparing for CSE 2021 from my home but for past 2 weeks my preparation has become steady since there is no serious aspirant I am in contact with have lost that sense of competitiveness. If anyone can suggest something!!

Libraries can be of great help.

Libraries are a double-edged sword. It can provide a great atmosphere if you have competitive and serious aspirants or a way of wasting time if surrounded by the non-serious time pass types.

Many a time I get attracted to the latter group due to the fun part associated with it! :P

Although, I am lucky in the sense that I am able to realise it pretty early. This is the reason I keep switching libraries. The benefits range from getting the desired seriousness back and having some change in the otherwise monotonous schedule.

Switching libraries works for me too. Though there is some inertia, especially if one has had a positive result at some stage of the exam while studying in a particular library.

But you got to do what you got to do at the end of the day.

@Omen libraries won't work for my place but Thank you :)

You can give a try to online study sessions. Study with me on youtube or twitch can be helpful.

If i spend some time to read the newspaper FOMO of prelims starts to catch up forcing me to wrap it up mid way.

Any inputs would be appreciated

How much are you all scoring in Vision Full Length Tests ?

I am finding them a bit difficult honestly. Makes me doubt my whole preparation .

@sjerngal I scored 50 and I don’t give a damn and you shouldn’t too. They ask the most useless questions ever. Elimination just doesn’t work in these tests because in the quest of making tough papers they frame tricky options and that is not the case in Upsc papers. Last year I wasted a lot of my time on useless CA because of these tests and ignored mains prep and the result is that I failed mains terribly. Don’t bother with vision tests anymore. If someone is scoring high in these tests that means they have wasted a lot of their time on useless CA which will hardly make any difference in real exam and will be utterly useless for mains. So stick to basics and trust your gut in the actual exam. Don’t let tricky option framing by these mocks second guess yourself in Upsc exam. All the best.

This makes so much sense. Thank you for putting this thought in words. Somebody had to say this.

Not putting down any test series, but it eventually is - Read our current affairs material and get rewarded.

Though i dont feel its any wrong to NOW probably get in the depth of is it 126 or 32 bits in IPv6 or something else in PT's. As all we are doing right now is battling prelims anxiety and no better way to do it than getting to see a good score in a mck

Can anyone please share their approach for compulsory language papers?
I am kind of freaking out as if the optional and gs were not manageable already, these papers won't even be checked if the language papers are not qualified.

I am answering this with an assumption that you have hindi as compulsory language.

I plan to read a few Hindi newspapers in the week gap for vocab building (I intend to make note of few daily use words). Just skim through Grammar books for eng and Hindi to get hold of grammar part. Essay, precis writing and descriptive passage will be manageable. Along with that, I plan to simulate the tests one day just before to get into the zone.

Want to share something from my last mains experience. In the English to Hindi translation part, struggled to get Hindi words like'अनुशासन' for discipline. We know them but due to our Hinglish dialect, are out of practice.

adding to this, you can pick up last 3-5 years papers and make a list of words.

Usually, constitution, democracy, environment etc are themes often repeated in the exam.

Hope this helps!
