CSE 2022: Plan/ Strategy/ Daily Routine

sbhatisaid

Whenever I feel down about results, I try to keep this passage from the book "Make it Stick" in mind. May be relevant here.

Trying to read this book ... NOW before/alongwith starting another year's preparation
Is it a good read ?

@sbhatiYes. Philosophy is my optional. You too ?

I have been on and off here last year. More off than On.

Will be regular here on now.

I am 28. Left my job in 2020 , gave prelims in 2020 just for exp , anyways attempt would have been wasted due to age.

2021 was my first serious attempt. Not gone well.

And that would not have been that big of a deal for me. But i think i gave up before(mentally) and that stings more.

The syllabus and the overall vastness overwhelmed me.

Anyways, starting the prep for 2022 , with more planning, more sincerity and more courage.

@sbhatiThanks bro. The only one i know is Mitra's Epoche. May join it later this year.

@sbhatiWell, I am not in Delhi and that's why i think i have limited knowledge regarding other institutes. I know of Mitra only bcoz of the promotion and last year's toppers.
What have you heard about VVR ?

Today's Targets

World history 2 classes + ncert reading

Ethics 25-30 pages

What do you guys suggest on how to complete World history ? Is there a consolidated concise source ?

I was planning to see Pratik nayak classes (30 hrs ) + his recommended Study material (Arjun dev's old Ncerts selected reading 9th 10th and 12th and his powerpoint slides )

But it seems too fragmented , also not able to find those arjun dev ncerts.

A good option right now seems to me Anudeep durishetty's recommendation

May move forward with this.

Hey guys, Trying to find some good IR resource,

One option is Pavneet singh IR book , but seems too bulky (will have to study selectively)

Is there any other crisp and concise resource you know ?

Thinking of shortening my daily hours, maybe it'll increase some productivity

Right now i sleep studying and start preparation of studying as soon as i wake up. Looking to add half to 1 hour of pure personal time before sleep.

What do you do when feeling low?

I talk to people who I know believe in me. Not the ones who speak all nice just to make you feel nice but those who truly believe in you.

I sleep  sometimes. It solves the issues magically somehow.

I do things that make me feel alive like writing. I sit down and write what I am feeling. That can be a good way to understand the roots of your blues. Just trying to be honest with yourself helps. But also, be kind to yourself.

And sometimes, the problem isn't our inability to understand but a deep sense inside that we aren't being understood. Some days ago I sat down and just watched one of my favourite movies, the lunchbox. I felt the same feeling of being understood as I felt when I watched it in 2013. It was as if the movie was giving me a warm hug.

I listen to songs. You feel a little less burdened with the weight of your pain when you know people have gone through the same pain and they have recorded that pain so beautifully in words. Like, there is this song called "Man Bawra" from the movie Gippi. The line goes like, "meri yaadon ki khuli chaadrein gathri baandhe na". That so nicely encapsulates my obsession with nostalgia. And I feel okay when I listen to it because now I am not alone.

There may be things that do the trick for you. Find those things, Do those things. It's okay to keep an hour for yourself.

Sometimes, even studying helps. Even 2 hours of intense focus of study shows you what you are capable of and that helps too.

And you do write good brother. Just reading your comment made me feel a little more at ease within this buzzing mind of mine, not to mention your ever present Murakami quote above . Those lines always slow me down.

Also wanted to thank you for mentioning Anki, been using it for around a month now and it seems it solves a very important gap in my preparation.

@sbhatiCongratulations .

How is your prep going ? Other than Philosophy of Religion , How are you approaching other 3 ?
Would love to discuss some strategy as mine currently is just rereading and understanding the concepts again

@sbhatiThanks. I have tagged you in the optional thread with some doubts.

Hello Folks

Longtime now, I was just trying to do stuff offline.

This is about something i think would add something to my prep.

Forming a group of 3-4 people.

I have heard that a good group is like a catalyst speeds up the process. I was familiar with the idea earlier too but didn't think my prep was at a level where it would give too much benefit.

I think its the right time.

WHEN- I am thinking the group will meet on Sundays through calls (this way less conflict with daily prep and some productive use of sunday too)

PURPOSE -  Mains specific at least For initial weeks -

-To actively collaborate and discuss on Quotes, Data and other examples for topics and form a CONSOLIDATED REFERENCE TABLE of the same through the discussion

- To discuss and analyse PYQ's and prepare model answers (broad initially and more specific as we move forward) of previous year questions

Other than that we can decide collectively moving forward

Let me know your thoughts if interested

Hello guys

4.2k views

Hey Guys,

Mentioning it once again, Looking to form a group.

Since some of us are preparing through home, one of the blocks that is missing usually is peer discussion.

Core features-

  1. Regular meeting but only on sundays   (so there is no distraction on weekdays),
  2. Active group discussion through Voice/Video call,
  3. Group strength 3-4 people only

If you think something like this could improve your prep,

Please DM me.
