Since the calendar was messed up last year with prelims in October, what would be a reasonable time period for current affairs to prepare for coming prelims? I know they ask questions for a 2-3 year old news as well but I’m asking generally, as in MUST do time period ? June to May?

January 2021 to April 2022( minimum)

Maximum agar time mile to june 2020 to April 2022.

This is not a banking or ssc exam ( jaha 6 months or 1 year ka padh kai gaye to kaam ho jayga.

@DM I get your point but sorry to say, I think overemphasis on current affairs se bhi nahi hoga. IN my opinion, quality should matter. For example, I had studied about the Mitakshara and Dayabhaga when the Hindu succession act judgment came out but only the part which talks about daughter’s inheritance and not anything else , so I got confused while solving it.

2 saal k 365 padhti (which I actually did to be honest) tab bhi shayad Water credit, St Xavier, Right to city  types question solve nahi ho paate 😅 but to each their own, I’ll try doing from Jan 2021, as you suggested. Thank you :)

That i can understand and agree to.

Mai to kahunga prelims in my opinion static part sai vhi clear ho jayga.

Agar kisi ko padhna hi hai

But mai mains ko leke bola sirf prelims clear karnae sai to kucch nahi hoga.

Mains kai liye mujhse lagta hai issue based current affairs karna hi chahiye 2 saal ka.

Mai to prelims kai liye jyada overemphasize karna current ko bahut bara danger ho jayga. 🤪

Could not revise environment sincerely, gave the test instead. This week will be all about getting rid of backlogs.

Targets:

  • SFG: Test + Analysis
  • Newspaper
  • Finish Agriculture
  • Environment Revision
  • Miscellaneous tidbits

@Jammu good to see you here. Really appreciate the wake ups. All the best :)

February was good for the first 20 days and then it all went haywire. Need to ensure consistency. Had massive inertia to do anything yesterday so I did the SFG test, newspaper and substitute agriculture with studying the budget. No progress on environment.

Targets:

  • Finish Agriculture
  • SFG Test Analysis
  • Environment (if tired, substitute with ES)
  • Newspaper
  • Plan for the month

Hoping for a much better march. All the best everyone!

Did not find time to do environment, will try to finish it by tomorrow now. Other targets done.

Targets:

  • Environment (1/2)
  • SFG Backlog (1/2)
  • Newspaper
  • Miscellaneous

Finished all the targets. Today seems to be a difficult day, will try to pivot from the bad start.

Targets:

  • Environment (2/2)
  • Finish SFG Backlog (2/2)
  • Newspaper
  • Miscellaneous

Going back to ambitious targets now or else I'll keep faltering. Today, I could not finish Environment (Barely touched it) but did the rest. Disappointing day nevertheless. By the way, thanks for the wake ups. Will try to do better tomorrow.

Targets:

  • Finish Environment (2/2)
  • Finish S&T Backlog
  • Mock Test Analysis (if time)
  • Economic Survey (1/3)
  • Newspaper

Finished environment, did newspaper and started S&T. Could not touch Economic Survey or the test. Have to figure out a way to be productive post 6 PM, losing a lot of time!

Targets:

  • Finish S&T Backlog
  • Economic Survey (1/3)
  • Mock Test Analysis (if time)
  • Newspaper

Win finally able to finish S&T. Now onto the final set of NCERTs. Going to take a different approach in terms of doing economic survey and hope that it works out, no point in finishing old backlogs only to get new ones.

Targets:

  • Medieval History (1/2)
  • Economic Survey (10 Pages)
  • Newspaper

All done. Could have done better but hopefully soon.

Targets:

  • Finish Medieval History
  • Economic Survey (10 pages)
  • Newspaper

Bad day yesterday, just finished yesterday's targets.

Today's plan:

  • Test + Analysis
  • Economic Survey (20 pages)
  • Newspaper

Are you going through the actual Survey or some notes?

Sectional of which Institute u r taking?

Today was another healthy day. Generally for past couple of years, I have been restraining most of the temptations and do not easily submit to going with the flow. Today I made a little break. Since everyone around is discussing what a good movie The Kashmir Files is, hence I could not stop myself watching it. Truly a masterpiece, yahi sach hai.

Reviewing now - Meditation missed, PSIR untouched. PT done. Also watched Rajan’s interview with Karan Thapar. I personally do not subscribe to his views. Would sleep little less to compensate for the entertainment part.

Targets for March 14 (day 15)

1. Meditation 2x, DW

2. PT - newspaper, CA topic, transcripts.

3. PSIR 1B - revision.

Let’s start this new week with high josh !

Today was a lazy day. Anxiety regarding results has started kicking in. Need to be strong somehow ✌️

Reviewing now - meditation missed for third day in a row, not a good thing. PSIR 1 B revised 1/4. PT done.

Targets for March 15 (day 16)

1. Meditation 2x (on priority), DW

2. PT - newspaper, transcripts, home state JK.

3. Time for leisure.

Looking forward to a healthy day. Good luck dostoen : )

Yes, definitely it can be done anytime. I have been following Daaji’s Heartfulness Meditation for past couple of months on udemy app. He recommends doing it thrice. Meditation in the morning, Cleaning after day off, prayer before bed time. I’m also more comfortable in the evening.

U r doing thrice a day?

U can still cover monthly magazine.

Better to cover monthly magazine rather than pta 365.

Now calculating on nnp at market price

Since 2015, GDP at market prices is being used as measure of income instead of GDP at factor cost. This is what Vivek Singh's book refers to.

However, the term national income simply means income earned by factors of production( ie. land, labour etc.). So you have to subtract indirect taxes which are a part of GDP/NNP at market prices since those go to the Govt and not to the factors of production.

Therefore, NI = NNP(market price) - indirect taxes + subsidies

Or, NI = NNP at factor cost

Exactly

But vivek singh sab concept hi galat kar diye mera🥲

UPSC has given answer as b. But how can resultant of Convergence of the two equatorial currents be exactly opposite to both.

The equatorial countercurrents are driven by a distinct surface wind pattern in the tropics.

Strong westward trade winds result in westward surface flow in most of the tropical Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

However, several hundred mi. (km.) north of the equator, the winds are much weaker, in comparison

The stronger winds to the south pile up water where the winds are weak.

As a result, the surface of the ocean can be up to 6 in. (15 cm.) higher and the thermocline as much as 328 ft. (100 m.) deeper than it is directly to the north.

The excess water flows eastward under the influence of the Earth’s rotation, giving rise to the equatorial countercurrents.

In the Indian Ocean, the equatorial countercurrent is located several hundred mi. (km.) south of the equator.

In all three oceans, the equatorial countercurrent is concentrated in the upper 656 ft. (200 m.), above the thermocline.

The intensity of the equatorial countercurrent varies from season to season and from month to month.

The strongest seasonal changes occur in the Atlantic Ocean.

Eastward flow reaches a maximum in the summer and fall, with speeds of up to 12 in. (30 cm.) per second, and disappears in the spring.

Seasonal changes are weaker in the Pacific Ocean. Here, the equatorial countercurrent exists year-round, and is strongest in the fall and winter, with speeds slightly.

Do we consider viruses as "mutualistic"?

No., they are parasites.

3.8k views
@DM Yeah. I thought so too. But google "beneficial virus" and there are so many results. Even parasites are beneficial. But, I have serious doubts if UPSC even considers these as valid examples. According to NCERT and traditional sources, viruses/parasites are supposed to be providing "no benefit to the host". So, I think sticking to NCERT would be better. Isn't it?

Of course man.

All the best 👍💯 dosto. Do well.

Quoting neywan's quote. ( one of my favourite quotes)

Jo Log Mehnat Ka Saath Nahi Chodte Kismat Kabhi Unka Saath Nahi Chodti. and this

So go through your struggles. Your individual battles. You chose this. And these are what will make you..

Bye gud 🤞🍀

@sstaarr Wow that is a wonderful score in GS-1, especially considering the type of paper it was.

Don't worry too much about CSAT till the official result comes in. Private ones tend to have a lot of mistakes. Also, just wondering - how did you find the comprehension passages this time around? Maths was tougher this time I know.

I have attempted maths and reasoning jyda this time. I found passages easier than 2021 because in 2021 I knew I was struggling with them. Having difficulty in comprehending them. This time this was not the case. I just hope Passages save me. Although I do think the option framing was on a little tougher side and for sure not so easy.

RCs were easy

Guys, did you mark Biorock technology, Miyawaki method, Gucchi, Nitrogen Fixing Plants, Climate Action Tracker, EP100 questions? If yes, had you read them somewhere? These sort of questions are now regular, yet not found in Newspapers, conventional Current sources.

Hmm

Miyawaki , in vision test series

EP 100 many times in current affairs vision magazine

I was much into sustainability so i knew about innovative stuff people are doing. Like during an internship, Bangalore me people arranged clubs on weekend for setting miyawaki forests. Similarly read about hydroponics and other new farming practices.Biorock too. Not sure about others.

To suggest one single material here wouldnt be appropriate. You can still check out 1) WEF Top 10 future technologies ( they used to release till last year, didn't check this year).

2) Read more about environment, sustainability, agri articles. This would help in csat as well, coz if you would have observed most of the passages focus on climate change and future agri and land use stuff.

Can also linger around UN pages but that would really be an overkill. ( Some Chandak guy had shared a good way to explore UN pages, will share the link if i get it, but again overkill hai, focus on static more).

I beg to differ..
Most of These terms have been in newspapers.
For example-. I remember adding Miyawaki in my notes way back in 2020.. It has been repeated many times after that.

Could not start statics & dynamics, I've finished 3D but not happy with my progress. Will revise it tomorrow once more before I proceed. Could not see the topper copy either. Have to make it a regular habit.

Targets:

  • 3D - Revision
  • Statics & Dynamics - Theory
  • Newspaper
  • Ethics Topper Copy
  • Answer Writing & Review
  • Disaster Management (1/3)

Wasted the first half today. Was able to touch upon all the topics but my progress in them wasn't satisfactory.

Targets:

  • Finish S&D Theory
  • Disaster Management (2/3)
  • Ethics Topper Copy
  • Newspaper
  • Answer Writing Review + Write 2 Case Studies

I was fanboying over Vishakha Yadav's topper copies a while back, saw Divya Mishra's copy today and I'm awestruck. They deserve all the success that they've got, insane skills. Need to put in a lot of efforts to even run in the same race as them. Hopefully one day! Good luck people.

Targets:

  • Finish S&D
  • Revise 3D
  • Disaster Management (3/4)
  • Ethics Topper Copy
  • Newspaper
  • Answer Writing + Review

Bad day streak continues. Only did maths today and the newspaper.

Targets:

  • Review - S&D, 3D
  • Disaster Management (3/4)
  • Ethics Topper Copy
  • Newspaper
  • Answer Writing + Review

Was able to cover most of the targets yesterday. However, my efficiency was less and it reflected in the test I gave today. Might have to give more time to same topics, confused as of now.

Targets:

  • Test - done
  • Finish Disaster Management
  • Ethics Topper Copy
  • Newspaper
  • Answer Writing + Review

Not able to come here on a daily basis but I'll keep trying.

Targets:

  • Maths Test Analysis
  • Maths Daily Module
  • Ethics Test Analysis
  • Write 1 Essay
  • Newspaper

Could not start Ethics Test review due to time paucity. Did the rest.

Targets:

  • Maths - Complex Analysis (1/2)
  • Maths Daily Module
  • Ethics Test Analysis
  • Newspaper

Was not able to finish test analysis. Barely did 30%. Finished the other targets. GS1,2 and 3 are lagging behind, wish there was a way for us to function optimally 16 hours a day! Good day people!

Tomorrow:

  • Finish Complex Analysis
  • Maths Daily Module
  • Finish Ethics Test Analysis
  • Newspaper

how many hours are you able to study productively?

think it is very wrong to put it in terms of a number of hours to study and measure the study performance based on time. It should be more on the number of subjects or topics that you have covered.

Took a small break after Mains. Read books like Three Lals of Haryana, Bihar Diaries etc., as reading is my hobby. Also, started going to the gym again.

I haven't analysed the GS Papers "properly" right now as the areas of improvement can be understood only after we get our marksheet.
Since my optional was Maths (objective optional), I analyzed it and I am quite certain to score around 260 in the worst case and 300+ in the best case.

Anyways, I have started preparing for Interview now by not caring about the result. Yes there's high uncertainty about the results but preparing for interview would still involve current affairs analysis which we would have to do for the next Prelims as well.

Bro what are you doing for your interview preparation?

Working on hobby? Or preparing daf?

I am clueless about it. Shed some light
