The day could have been better. Late start to the day eats up most of the productivity.

Not the best of days mostly on account of 1. So, pretty disappointed :/

Did most of the targets half heartedly, except 5. Hopefully tomorrow's better.

Realized it's either optional or GS day for me. Will try to pull off both for tomorrow, failing which I'll officially shift to either of them while setting targets for the coming days.

Targets roll over; additionally awp of optional subtopics covered today. Also, actively try for an early start to the day!

Good day today. Tried to make up for the lost time and productivity from yesterday.

Did few topics of optional and awp, revised half of env notes, almost 1/3rd of sept monthly.

Targets for 10th Nov-

1. Newspaper backlogs

2. Revise rest of env notes + update

3. Optional IL subtopics revise and awp; notemaking of prev topics

Controlling the urge of being overambitious and stuffing up additional targets. Let's see how the day goes.

Changed my targets half way through the day. Done with eco and agri almost and didn't touch optional today. First half was great, but most of the second half was spent being distracted over nothing. :P But, glad won't have to do Eco tomorrow.

1. Social justice/Polity value add (if possible)

2. Optional - High priority

3. Newspaper

Calling it a day. Figured that a few fringe sub topics and issues of gs 3 were left to be done properly. So prioritised that and got them done. Tried to shift to optional but friction was too high, post the gs 3 session, so lagged quite a bit.

Will try to have a better day tomorrow, targets roll over.

1. Backlogs

2. IL- wto, ibrd, trips, succession etc; half test

3. Polity issues (if possible)

Gave a test in the morning first thing and did a portion of the backlogs, studied for another and then inertia followed in the evening session. So couldn't do all of the targets.

Tomorrow-

Complete the backlogs; remaining test + 1; CA

Hi, @Naadan_Parinda and@Jiraiya , happened to brainstorm on one of the section A topics. Feel free to give your inputs. Thanks :)

Your perception of me is a reflection of you; my reaction to you is an awareness of me

Why does perception matter?

  • Determines our attitude; provides objectivity
  • Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder
  • Perception also determines our reaction

How is ones perception one's own reflection?

  • For an individual- one's thought process
  • For the family - socialisation, values
  • For society - state of progress
  • For a country - matter of soft power (Middle East perception of women; Taliban's hardline stance causes other nations to not engage with them;)

How is one's reaction an awareness of themselves?

  • Situation not under control, but reaction is
  • Individual: In life: reaction to an adversity is what defines one's true character
    • Times of crisis make you the person you are
    • Diamonds are made under pressure
  • Laws made by Parl- reaction to the social problem; reflects awareness abt society
  • SC- striking down of NJAC; opacity in appointments while advocating democratic principles
  • Economic crisis - steps taken

Perception and reaction: incongruence:

  • Perception of a woman and stereotyping roles reflection of the society; defying those perceptions- is the reaction of women, reflects their characters; cite examples
  • Perception of a delinquent, reflection of the criminal justice system's inadequacy; purpose should be reformaion, rehabilitation; purpose of the criminal institutions gets defeated if criminals are not reformed (more aware of themselves) and become hardened (react
  • Perception in IR
    • China - border issues (border infiltration while the Chinese Prez happened to be on visit to India - reaction
    • Pakistan - surgical strike (reflected courage)
    • World wars causes
    • Colonialism: the colonialists perception of the colonies is a reflection of them and their narrowmindedness/selfish exploitative nature;
  • Perception of the pandemic - dealing with carelessness
  • Freedom struggle- stick and carrot strategy of the Britishers; constant repression; divide and rule; non-fulfulment of promises; battled with utmost non violence, satyagraha and truth (Hence, our reaction)
  • Environment- the giving nature of environment; constant exploitation- our perception is that it's a free resource to be exploited; it's reaction - always giving; however over exploitation- causes global warming, calamities, shows us our place
  • Ashoka - was perceived as the greatest ruler and a relentless conquerer; however post the Kalinga war, he spread the concept of Dhamma (hence, his reaction reflected his character)
  • Odisha- perceived as poverty stricken; reaction- Kalia scheme, disaster mitigation of Fani etc

Result of incongruence

  • Social disharmony
  • Cognitive dissonance
  • Migration - society's perception in case of casteism invokes this reaction which is a reflection of their insecurities
  • Expand other dimensions

Way forward

  • Practising rationality, empathy compassion on an individual level
  • Bringing behavioural change via nudge theory, example setting etc
  • More progressive laws like Labour reforms in favour of women, judgements like Sabrimala, etc
  • Cross border dialogues, disarmament, treaties

Conclusion:

It is only when one changes internally is that one's perception changes

It is only when one is self- aware is when one can control one's reaction

Hello,

Does anyone know of a source (book/coaching notes/topper notes) where there is content about frameworks for different types of case studies?

Thanks!

If you happen to find a source (or make them yourself :p) please share it with us!
