Can one ensure high marks in Essay?

Hello friends, Instead of a simply 'No', i would love to hear strategies and ways to score high marks in essay. What kind of mind set, writing style and content is required? Every year many people score above 150, so if targeted it might be achieved especially if one is not so confident about one's GS preparation. What are Dos and Don'ts to get it done? Thank you:)
