Can somebody help me with a test series strategy to get realigned?

Can somebody tell me which test series/plan I can start with to get realigned with the portions? I was doing the 75 Days Revision plan and midway I felt like the questions in 75 days series are just not realistic/practical enough and it was impossible to cover the daily targets set.

Is there something else that somebody can suggest?

It will be impossible to cover daily targets of every single test series. Only after 2 years you will be able to cover all the topics needed to appear for a test series. But if you think like that you will need to prepare for at least 10 months for Mains and at least 5 months for Prelims before you are able to finish the syllabus and then finish your daily targets.

Try to do 50-60 or 70% of the syllabus . That is good enough. Any targets can be met only if you exactly know what you have to do and how you have to do it. Does not happen if you are a complete fresher or if you have not studied for 1-2 years but you "think" you have studied and then you see a daily plan like that.

I had taken up forum SFG program last year. I thought that I will be able to finish the syllabus as I have been preparing for 2-3 years. Turned out that I had not read the basic books as thoroughly as I should have. It was a struggle, but I stuck to it.

I saw many of my friends leave it mid way saying - its not possible to cover so much in so less time. We dont get time to do anything else.

I happened to be lucky to speak to a mentor who told me few things. One of them was that even if you do 50-60% it is good enough. Secondly, things should have a deadline or else "work expands to fill the time." (Read this article

You have to make do with whatever time you have. If you cannot finish the syllabus in 75 days, then clearly you need more days. Give it more days. Its flexible isnt it? But first you have to accept it may take more days - say 120 days. Give it that time. Stick to insights, do one thing and do it right.

Also, do read the article below, will give you lot of perspective.

And don't be afraid to ask questions. We are all learning here.

@goldberry thank you so much for taking the time to chalk this out. I managed to finish 60 days of Insights Revision Plan, I mean I have finished the syllabus in the past but I just found the daily test series to fairly gruelling, I guess. I was thinking of making the switch to IASBaba 60 Day Plan for the next leg since the Prelims are delayed because of its more practical nature.

I understand what you mean but I think I have finished the syllabus even before the test series started, you know. Hope you get my point, thank you once again :)

My sister is in services. I have learnt most things from her. I was part of SFG & MGP at ForumIAS. Cleared prelims and luckily cleared Mains also. Honestly, I used to think that I am good with Subjective, but after writing this year's Mains, I have lost all hope. Anyway, I think I could have my way thorugh Interview only because of basic writing skills that I learnt at MGP.

It is nothing fascinating,  what they teach is already here on IASBaba

Though I will admit that having a mentor helps.

I have been taking Prelims Mock up test and monitoring my progress. Till date I am done with approx 10 tests. At the starting I was attempting 70 questions in which 50+ were which i felt were right and rest tricks and guessing.I was getting more wrong answers and score was horrible, so I left that approach and now I am attempting  approx 60-65 questions which I feel are right without any guessing but still my accuracy rate is coming on 40-45% and In-accuracy rate is 50-60% (more than my accuracy). I have improved though but not that much since beginning.

Now the point is, I want to know following things:

1. where am I lacking?

2. Is it too early to decide?

3. Shall I stick to the same approach as it is showing result but slow?

4 What can be the best way to stop incorrect answers (in-accuracy rate)? Because if I control my negative marking I will reach to the target.

Thanks,

Ankit Chauhan

Couldn't find any other thread to ask this, I urgently needed Insights on India Thematic Test 10 (preferably with solutions). It was held recently, so not available online. If someone has it know where where to get it from, please share.
