Allfather UPSC will speak only when he's sure he won't have to speak again. That means, they're going to delay any decision till they're absolutely sure they cannot conduct the exam. And yes that's concerning for all of us, but frankly UPSC is only bothered about the ones who make into the final list, rest of all us are just roll numbers.expect a decision by May end at the earliest.
Also got to know from a *fellow aspirant's source* that last week there were questions asked in UPSC office about whether there's any precedence for conducting next exam cycle before concluding the previous cycle- the answer was no, this is unprecedented. Now this at best is an open ended insider information- didn't come with any conclusion

- The results of the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 1990 were declared on July 31, 1991.
- The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 1991 was held in June 1991 but had to be cancelled due to leakage of Question papers. It was held afresh on September 29. 1991.
