@skandagupta the way things are going brother, lockdown is inevitable. atleast in delhi. in my own building 3 out of 8 families have reported covid positive. including immediate neighbour. new strains coming up regularly. this is a repeat of 2020. mark my words. situation is grim.

Yeah but mortality rate is half now so who knows we might have already hit the peak. I think most exams will be postponed by a month at max that's it

@skandagupta that would depend on number of candidates appearing and urgency and capacity as well. like they cancelled 10th boards. but 12th in which lesser students appear and is more important, theyll take decision in june. so decision itself coming 1 month after the original date. exams will get post poned by atleast 2 imo

10th 12th exams are critical and for kids so stakes are high. But for recruitment exams don't think they would go beyond a month of postponement now that vaccination is in full force. Expect prelims by july end

All our problems start and end with population. We are 17% of the global population living in less than 2.5% of the land area. Not even the best governments and bureaucracies of the world can save this country(or such similarly configured ones) when such a pandemic happens. Our systems were inadequate even before COVID-19 this just made it collapse fully. No aspirant should wreck their heads over a simple supply demand issue be it jobs(including the less than 0.1% success rate of UPSC), healthcare, education or infra in general, our population is the number 1 problem-always was and will remain till we stop breeding like rabbits(even though TFR is down still another generation will suffer till we peak). So stop worrying, take care of your and your families well being by following protocols and do not panic by watching media/social media 24*7. This was bound to happen and god forbid a major disaster like a mega quake(predicted this century in north india) happens will repeat because of POPULATION. TC everyone and ATB!

Guys, I want to share my story of failures. I will keep it short. I started preparation in 2014 and gave first attempt in 2015. I have given six attempts, cleared prelims every time, but couldn't clear mains once. In between I prepared for other exams such as RBI, NABARD, RAS, etc. But failed in them as well.

Being 29-year-old unemployed guy dependent on parent’s income, I always ask myself "what have I done to my life". I am being dejected, cursed and ridiculed by everyone in my family and friend circle. Only my parents have faith on me. But I have failed them as well.

I don't know whether you guys especially those with max attempts feel helplessness or not on yourself. Mujhe khud pe taras aata. I am exhausted by this exam. My shoulders feel heavy and weak. Every morning and night, I feel I cannot walk anymore. Sometimes, suicidal thoughts engulf me. I had even tried to commit suicide. But, the very thought of my parents stops me. I had understood that this exam is not only about knowledge, rather about your emotional intelligence as well. I genuinely feel, this is not an exam, rather a loop where majority of aspirants waste their productive year.

People say that you have prepared for upsc, you will excel in life even if you fail to clear. I rather doubt this same thought process. Nobody gives a damn, whether you prepared for UPSC or not. You are a failure, that’s it. You have to start the process for other exams from scratch. Even, if you go to private sector, they ask about age gap. You feel embarrassed when you report to your younger ones.

Some of you may not concede to above fact. But I know UPSC skills are relevant predominantly for coaching industry only.

I would sincerely urge the younger fellows that please don’t waste your productive age by exhausting all attempts. Discard the urge that “Abki baar to nikal jaayega”. If you have sincerely worked hard and still unable to clear. Mend your ways my dear friend. Probably, luck doesn’t favor you.

Currently, I am clueless and don’t know how to proceed. The constant failures have shattered my self-esteem and confidence. Pata nahi ab life kaha le jaayegi. I am with flow now…………………………

Leave this upsc hype or for that matter any govt job. For general category the percentage of selection is less than 0.1% in even a normal officer job let alone ones like UPSC or RBI. So you are not alone 99.9% will fail (basic supply-demand) . Focus on starting a business as most Indians are risk averse(fattu) and don't do it especially those from middle class. If possible find your areas of interest first, look for demand supply in that area and work on a business plan. If there's no demand, create it(but here innovation is required)! 29 is not too old. It is the perfect time to be an entrepreneur you have time till september-october when Covid starts weakening relatively because after that India is going to bounce back in terms of economy like no other and these 2 years of pain will be long forgotten by the working class nor will we have the time to look back. So do not waste your time, the time is right, sharpen your axe and go for the jugular!

@RYZEN Why not blame on your sky high aspirations and lust for a powerful job only, if I may say so? Two attempts are enough to prepare and if you can't then one should hunt for other job/career first and take a pause in attempts. This saves your career and later on you can re-appear after revisions. Anyway, you are  never late. Empires had been decimated in past and they had rose again. Don't feel embarassed by what you have done. It's not a crime. Don't think of suicide. You will punish your parents, people who had trusted you. Instead take some counseling. Start with something new even if it is a small job/ business/profession. Money is never an issue. You can get loan upto Rs 2 lakhs in Mudra without ITRs. Keep ego aside if you have in case. Build network, file itrs and construct profile and then go for management from a good college after 3 years. Work on skills of data analytics especially. Your journey may look stagnant, may start slow but after 10 years you will be at wonderful position. I can tell you because I had been in worse position than you and this approach only has helped me move forward and successfully.  Apologies if my words are harsh anywhere. I hope you have a great future.

Ha harsh words hai and I was in a similar boat 5 years ago so depression is real! But now doing relatively okay as self employed and having 2 employees also. Like modi said job seeker mat bano job provider bano. UPSC hua toh thik nahi hua to thik should be our approach especially if one is GC. This country's govt jobs and govt education is not for ones without quota only the creme dela creme of the GC make it. Unfortunately it took me 4 years to realise this fact on the brighter side the market is there for the taking with so many consumers. Just need a decent product/service which is competitive and has an edge. Job is very very difficult anyways with that gap, I struggled in 2016 when jobs were aplenty but in 2021 even the best graduates have no jobs and are running abroad so starting a business venture should be the default plan B here for every failed aspirant. As far as IT sector goes say goodbye to your job dream if your gap is more than 6 months so even 1 attempt in UPSC is gonna derail that considering the 2021 scenario and CoVID. But koi nahi businessman bano IAS YAS everyone is being paid by us only through the taxes we generate-GST/IT/CT. So for those having ego issues even after failure in CSE this is how you cope and it is based on a ground reality not societal perception. ATB.
