Doubt Clearance Thread: UPSC 2021

Not able to decipher the pattern. Is there anyway to get the pattern easily? I'm ended up giving too much time but still not able to see what's a pattern in these types of questions. This type of question was repeated in both the year 2019 and 2020.

Is there any short cut to solve this question apart from equation method, which is taking time.

@Archand Yes, the answer is B) but I'm consuming lot more time than required. Even after that I missed one equation.

@HeNeArKr Sorry. My fault I haven't uploaded a proper picture.

@tarun17 @HeNeArKr Yes. But I'm not able to decipher the pattern. I was fixated in seeing it either in 2 letters of combination or 3.

@Voyager considering the time I took in solving this type of questions, I would definitely leave this one.

@D503 can I also say it because of garo hills are situated on western most margin and as Britishers were expanding from eastern side so they would have firstly came in the contact with garo ?
Just trying to make a sense. What's the answer?

how one will proceed ? Not able to grasp this question. Main to answer isme wo laa raha hun jo ki options main hi nahi hai😅

@Archand Indeed there are enough number of questions which can be tackled to get 67. I realised this when I started solving PYQ. Trying to improve my tortoise like speed.

@Aurora I was also thinking something similar. I thought to count the number of letters and see if it could be divisible by say 2, 3, 4 or 5 to make a sense of pattern. Will try what you have suggested.

@sjerngal I find it bit difficult. Questions were more on technical basis and less on analytical. Whether it's S&T or economics, there was less emphasis given on analytical questions. I didn't solve more than 50 questions. Find it more like on Vajiram pattern, less on upsc pattern.
Confidence hila diya iss paper ne.

Ye kya ho gaya
I haven't matched my answers from many coaching institute except insight & shankar ias and was expecting 120. But got 102.**
Had I answered one more question in CSAT correctly, I could have written my first mains in 2020.

Constitutional rights are those which are guaranteed by constitution itself. So, for example all FRs are constitutional rights but vice versa isn't true.

A person can approach to any authority for redressal of their grievances and being written in any language (Sorry, I don't remember the Article and correct para phrasing) is also a constitutional right.

Legal rights are those which are provided by parliamentary act. Example rights given under MGNREGA are legal right. Remember, right to livelihood is FR under A21 but say allowances in case of denied work under MGNREGA is an example of legal right.

I hope I'm not wrong.

@necromancer "Provided that the Chief Election Commissioner shall not be removed from his office except in like manner and on the like grounds as a Judge of the Supreme Court"
Remember in case of judges of SC the power lie in the hands of Parliament that is Legislature not the political executive (govt). When the passed resolution is presented to the President, President remove the judges of SC.
There is no role of govt. in removal of CEC.
Although, I'm not sure whether govt can tender advice on these matters and specifically opposite to what Parliament has shown through its resolution.

@MaeveWiley Option A is correct. Remodeling of army can be done only when king isn't threatened to his life. Because of proximity, Mir Saheb constantly felt insecure.

@Villanelle I feel this question is picked up from "power of mutual delegation", as in this case executive power of Union is clearly more broader than state. While states needs to take permission of president,if it wants to entrust state executive function to centre. president doesn't require permission of governor if it's done by Parilamantary act.
Though Article 365 can also be the reason.
But u think framing of statement isn't right. Remember, in India neither union nor state and for that judiciary is supreme, it's the constitution. In case if state and union, various SC mentioned neither of two superior or inferior.

@jassikamboj16303 Got your point. Let me say it wrt AIS. Who's appointing & removal authority President. Similarly, President and Parliament has role but not the govt.
Go with De-jure authority not de-facto. I understand President has to work as per the advice tendered by CoM but remember President in India though bound by CoM advice but it seen as an independent constitutional authority.
That's why I said govt has no role. I still stand with my statement.
It's bit technical.

@jassikamboj16303 Indeed futile to get into long drawn discuss.

@mehuifs After amendment made in MMDR, center may auction mineral, if the state govt. failed to complete the auction process within stipulated time frame. The time frame is decided by center after consulting with the state govt.
Emphasis on the word "may"

@ArchAngel96 TBVH, both A and B is wrong. Firstly, Unlike, in previous movements where there were far & few violence perpetuated by masses, NCM(Chauri chora) but in QIM, there were spree of violence all over India. People were throng to the street and were ready to go to any extant.
Secondly, unlike previous movements, where it was clear cut instructions given by top leadership (MG, JLN) and they condemned any violent incidents if happened in the course of movements but this time around Gandhi himself tacitly legitimise the violence by saying "Do and Die" but not remain alive to see.....(kuch aisa hi bola tha) JLN also said something that we are not putting any kind of restrictions and you are free to take your actions. They also not condemned violent incidents.
So, I don't able to comprehend why UPSC think it was a non violent movement.
Second statement self explanatory but one can raise doubt here if upsc can do it with first.
After all Gandhi was declared to lead the movement so why I shouldn't take second statement correct. Agar upsc nahi maan sakti to him kyon mane.
But again UPSC is a dictatorial body whose command we have to follow.

@mehuifs How the first statement conveying it was a violent movement when the option is saying "it was a non violent movement." And we have to find out not true statement, right?
Even, I find option D) not completely true. Though, communists and communist backed Union opposed QIM and supported the cause of Britishers but still workers were unrest and there were strikes in some parts of India.
Aur confusion ho gaya mujhe to.

@kasanasandy007133 One correction. It's protem speaker who administer oath to winner candidates and only after that they can take part in proceedings of parliament.
Edit : there's no seperate oath for speaker, as s/he already have subscribed to oath as a member of the house.

3.2k views
Constitutionally, President has administer oath to newly elected members of the house. But as per convention, he appoint to senior most member of the house as a protem speaker to preside over the first sitting so that house can elect speaker.

There's clear cut instructions given in the Admit card in itself. They are asking students to compulsorily wear mask and put off it as when required for confirming your identity. No such words face cover is mentioned in it. Even carrying sanitizer isn't compulsory. One can carry transparent wali, choti si sanitizer ki bottle.

As I went to the pitch, initial shorts were sixer. But after that sab tilanjane mai chala gaya(dialogue from Tannu weds Mannu).

Badly manage my time. I'm getting a very bad feeling. Not even aware how many questions I have attempted.

Questions from sports and award were less expected. Factual question on dates.

Don't know why I'm also getting the feeling that paper was sailable if one see it in totality.(This line isn't for me. I have ruined this paper).

11.2k views
I feel this paper was less balanced as compared to previous year. I mean, easy questions were very easy and number of easy questions were on higher side but tougher one get quite difficult, obviously to certain extent because of options and in some cases nature of the questions. So, in totality there were less number of questions which can be categorised as moderate.(Personal feelings)

@AureliusM It happened with me in my previous attempt but if the invigilator have rectified his/her mistake by rearranging sheets in same manner then it's not an issue. But it's necessary to distribute in sequence whether one is present or absent.
