OUT OF MAJOR, MEDIUM AND MINOR IRRIGATION PROJECTS, WHICH ONE HAS THE MAX. SHARE IN IRRIGATION?
P.S: Sorry already for this very random question.
Considering minor irrigation projects include groundwater irrigation, it has to be minor irrigation projects as the majority of land under irrigation in India is under groundwater/tubewell irrigation.
@Shailputrihigh bond yield >money flows out of risky equity to safe and assured return on bonds >equity returns decrease. There may be exceptions but generally there's a negative relation between the two. The movement in bonds may be like 6% to 8% to 7.5% as investors flock towards bonds but in parallel equity may be going 8% to 6% to 5%.
I beg to differ with you on this point. If you say a is proportional to b you see how the change in b changes a. But what you are doing here is changing a to see the effect on b , which is different . I know you may be true but mathematically it is not correct.
Care to explain?
arrey simple : see bond yield and demand u know the relation as explained above
now if bond yield is low will investor invest in bonds or look for other avenues ......he sees that okk no good in investing in bond lets move to equity market correct .....(this you only have explained above)
what you have explained is hundred percentage correct just that u have deduced the relation wrong. ask your self you will get the answer. the statement "MY Take " is correct just you reread twice you will come to the answer
a increases then b increases = direct relation
a increases then b decreases = inverse relation
hope you are cleared on this

Bond yields are inversely proportional to equity returns. True or False?
My take : Equity returns reduce -->Bond demand increases -->Price increases -->Yield decreases. So, bond yield and equity returns isdirectly proportional. Above statement is false.
Above statement is mentioned true. So, where am I going wrong?
@Shailputri you are correct the statement is false, maybe the answer given is false. However "equity returns are inversely proportional to bond yields " this statement is true.
DIFFERANCE BETWEEN ASSET RECONSTRUCTON COMPANY AND BAD BANKS?Asset Reconstruction would just tend to take find potential buyers of the strained assets . It does not take over the control of the entire assets rather just facilitate the purchase.( in layman term you can equate them to real estate broker facilitating land sale/purchase). THE ARC take these Assets on discount and then resell. they do not take direct upfront NPA's.
BAD banks will just take over the entire NPA of PSB,s . Effect will be that PSB will recover entire amount upfront. While the Bad bank will suffer the loss of the NPA,s. Burden of NPA gets transferred to bad bank.
Hope this helps.
FROM VIVEK SIRS EXPLAINATION : THIS MIGHT GIVVE MORE CLARITY REG BAD BANK :
The above is news from Hindu. Following are some relevant points.
1) Govt. of India has created a "bad bank" named "National Asset Reconstruction Company Limited (NARCL)". NARCL is owned by Government of India, which basically means NARCL/bad bank is a PSU.
2) Let us understand what the article is trying to say through an example:
Suppose SBI had earlier given loan worth Rs. 1000 crore and it turned into NPA.
So, SBI would like to sell this NPA/bad loan to the bad bank (NARCL) and recover the money and would like to focus on its banking business.
So, Bad bank will purchase this NPA from SBI but not in Rs. 1000 crore. The bad bank will try to estimate how much money it would actually be able to recover from the NPA and accordingly it would quote a price for it. If SBI also agrees then, SBI will sell this NPA/bad loan (paper) to bad bank, let us say in Rs. 300 crore. But the bad bank will not immediately pay in cash Rs. 300 crore to SBI. Rather, the bad bank will pay 15% of the agreed amount (of the Rs. 300 crore) i,e. Rs. 45 crore in cash and the rest 85% i.e. Rs. 255 crore in securities (a kind of debt paper). But what if the bad bank/NARCL in future does not pay the amount mentioned in the security ?? i.e. bad bank does not repay its debt of Rs. 255 crore.
So, as per the news article, Govt. of India has agreed to provide "Government Guarantee" on the securities that will be issued by the bad bank.
You may be wondering that why there is a need of Govt. guarantee, when the bad bank is already a Govt. company. You should know that a Govt. company can also default. Govt. of India is not legally bound to pay the liabilities of a Govt. company.
I think both of your statement are contradictry.
The name of the proposed bad bank in the name itself has ARC in it. So I don't think there is any such difference between the two.
Correct me if I am wrong.
The bad bank concept is in some ways similar to an Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARC) but is funded by the government initially, with banks and other investors co-investing in due course. The presence of the government is seen as a means to speed up the clean-up process. ( Quoting from Vivek sir's book ). This means they are the same.
iska answer forum ne B diya hai, but i think it should be A. FAR is open for all non-resident investors to invest in govt securities
https://www.rbi.org.in/Scripts/NotificationUser.aspx?Id=11849&Mode=0
@D503 here is the official RBI notification regarding FAR it mentions the investments will still be made under the existing routes i.e- VRR, MTF. So the first statement is not completely true as FAR gives you the option of both long term and short term investment.
India's forex reserve is fourth largest or fifth largest in the world currently?5th- ES
I highly doubt UPSC would ask such factual questions of such a dynamic figure. RBI ( A govt. org itself) comes out with a weekly update of forex which itself contradicts ES, according to which India overtook Russia to become 4th largest.
@Will_Hunting Can you please explain it?
Generally, devaluation is undertaken to promote exports. But it leads to inflation in the domestic economy so Devaluation is more effective when domestic prices remain constant.
Can NDRF/ SDRF be used for compensating farmers for crop losses?
I had read no but in Vision PT 365, i read that Ministry of Agriculture compensated farmers for losses due to locust attack.
Saying NO: http://www.arthapedia.in/index.php?title=National_Disaster_Response_Fund_(NDRF)
Saying YES: https://www.pib.gov.in/PressReleseDetailm.aspx?PRID=1623587

Any time efficient method for this?
4 in hundredth place has ->9*9=81 numbers
3 in hundredth place, 4 in tens place->9 numbers
3 in hundredth place, 4 in ones place->9 numbers
Total numbers->81+9+9= 99
@Steph_Curry Is this the answer?
explain this " the calcutta, bombay madras high courts have intra-court appeals.when a single judge of high court has decided a case (either under original or appellate jurisdiction ) an appeal from such decision lies to the division bench og same high court. "
It means if a case has been decided in any of these 3 HCs by a single judge bench the litigant can appeal in the same HC to a division bench ( I think it is a 3 judge bench) of the same HC. In any other HC apart from the above 3 appeal lies with the SC.
these statements are regarding high courts
enforcement of fundamental rights of citizens - under original jurisdiction
art 226 empower high court to issue writs for enforcement of fundamental rights of citizen - under writ jurisdiction
these are two statement from lakshmikant , iam confused which is right ( this is not an mcq, )
Why not both correct?

i may be wrong but how can one power came under 2 jurisdictions ???
You are confusing original and exclusive jurisdiction both are different concepts. Writ jurisdiction is original but not an exclusive jurisdiction for SC or HC as both have powers for issuing writs.
What are the components of M0 ( high powered money ) ? Getting different things from different places.
EDIT : More confused why the people's deposit with the Banks is not counted, like say if I had deposited 100 rs, in which 20 is kept as CRR, 20 for SLR, 20 is given as loans , then why remaining 40 is not counted?
@sstarrr Instead of rattafying all the components of M0 have a simple understanding that M0 is the monetary base which means the total liability of RBI. It does not change with the deposit creation unlike the money supply( m1,m2,m3 etc.). As, for Rbi the liability remains the currency issued by it, a new deposit creation is liability for commercial bank not RBI.
Coming to your question->If you deposited money i.e rs 100, it will have no effect on the monetary base as the liability of RBI still remains Rs 100 as the deposit is not a liability for RBI and the Hard currency has just changed hands from public to bank.
I hope you have the clarity now?
Guys please suggest any one good full length mock for paper-1.. Except forum because I have given many mocks with forum and I don't want to be polarised in my preparation...
I want to give a final full length mock before the D-day..
@Purplesunbird thanks !! CA compilations on the website look really great for last-minute revision. Others can also have a look.

Yeah just had a cursory reading, looked useful to me!
lol thats what i thought.Q 31 - D because 13 and 17 Both has 1 and 1 remainder and it is asking for uniqueQ32 - A
What's the point of having such a huge coaching center basic question ke answer galat de rakhe hai
The letters from A to Z are numbered from 1 to 26 respectively. If GHI = 1578 and DEF = 912, then what is ABC equal to?
(a) 492
(b) 468
(c) 262
(d) 246cant figure this one out.
G=7,H=8,I=9, GHI=789 *2=1578
ABC=123*2=246
PS- I don't think these type of questions come in CSAT is it a PYQ?

Ohh... level badha dia h kaafi :p
The answer is (C).
Shouldn't it be D? Because Animal fats/ oils do contain trans-fats.
@Nehab animal fats have natural trans fat I don't think they are considered while measuring trans fats.
how one will proceed ? Not able to grasp this question. Main to answer isme wo laa raha hun jo ki options main hi nahi hai😅
1 digit number ->1-9 =9
2 digit number ->10-99= 90*2=180
3 digit number->100-999=900*3=2700
Total digits used till now = 2700+180+9=2889, total digits to get=3089 =>remaining digits= 3089-2889=200
=>total 4 digit number= 4*x=200 =>x=50 =>50th 4 digit number is 1049 which is the answer.
@Archand Yes, the answer is B) but I'm consuming lot more time than required. Even after that I missed one equation.
Simplify the equations and make it a two-variable equation which will make it easier for you to deal with.
the equation would be y+5z=(107-x)/10 (where x=1 rs , y= 10, z=50), now y+5z is an integer =>x has to be 7,17,27 and so on. we get corresponding equations y+5z=10,9,8,7,.....0. If you solve for every value you will get 18 solutions.
I personally believe it's time people need to get over this..
No doubt someone has qualified prelims through the category cutoff, but we often forget that in this attempt of mocking someone we neglect the fact that someone has scored a rank in top 20, which is no less a feat and a pure indication that the person has worked as hard as they could.
It is very easy to discredit someone's hardwork in this nonsensical debate of reservation and non reservation.
Over and out!
Bhai but vo sunny leony hai vo kuch bhi kr skta hai :p
Are rice fields/pans included as wetlands?
They can be included as wetlands but can't be notified under wetland mgmt. rules 2017. Inclusion under these rules provides some degree of protection and this is not feasible for paddy fields as they are used for growing paddy. That's the rationale I think. Similarly, wetlands already covered under WPA 1972, CRZ 2011 are not included as they are accorded greater protection.
@Rambo93 Yeah agreed. Paddy field is excluded. So, the generic statements of NCERT saying "India has this much area of wetland in which 70% are under paddy cultivation" are all infructuous now??
Paddy fields are wetlands but not accorded protection under wetland rules.
yes, woh dono whore hai@sjerngal haha ... we are losing our ass off in preparation on prelims for past 1-2 month but people like dabi can give these crucial months to mains preparation. Why people like you dont understand these things... did anyone pointed out Kanishak as SC... no bcoz he was simply brilliant in all aspect and he didnt rely on any reservation. On the other hand Dabi sisters are not at all deserving... they relied on reservations... its simple .. they had all the luxuries in their life.. so if you say dabi sisters are brilliant... then its laughable.
@root can't you just ban this dumb guy?
@D503 so your method is wrong?
He just used the scale once. You can use the big scale ( 7.5* 6 times= 24 cm) and the small scale (3.25 * 7 times=23.75cm) the difference gives 0.25 basically this is HCF only, much simpler to understand this way.

How does DNA vaccine work for COVID?DNA vaccine uses a gene (the gene that is responsible for the spike protein of COVID) from the virus and once it enters the nucleus it is transcribed into mRNA and then translated into the spike protein. Now our bodies will create antibodies to that protein. In mRNA that first step of transcribing into mRNA is skipped.
Just for some extra info: I thought that DNA vaccine is adding an extra step so how is it better than mRNA vaccine. Here's what I found:-
1)Dna is more stable than RNA so can be stored as room temp.
2) Dna vaccines are cheaper.
Disadvantages:-
there are some concerns as DNA's enter the nucleus of cells before forming mRna, so this may affect the cell DNA.

But Corona virus is a RNA virus and not a DNA virus. Then how come DNA is made from RNA?
mRNA vaccine could be understood but not DNA. If I am worng or I am missing something then pls tell.
Background Info:
Dna->is a piece of genetic info.
Spike protein->It's the part of coronavirus which latches to cells.
mRNA->used for sending the info to the Ribosomes which synthesizes the spike protein. (Because DNA ki bhasha ribosome ko nhi aati.)
Application:
So, in this vaccine, we are just sending the genetic information, not the actual virus. Now we can send the genetic info in rna or DNA form doesn't matter. Dna enters our nucleus forms the mrna which goes to the ribosomes which makes the spike protein, which in turns activates our immune system and creates antibodies.

Found this vedio. It says the RNA from the virus is attached with a DNA from a virus which is not harmful and then in some manner the DNA is formed which then is inserted into the cells - through different methods.
Bro how can Rna be attached to DNA? Rna is single-stranded, DNA is double.Yha vo Rna ko double stranded dikha rha hai means he might have converted RNA into DNA ( by reverse transcriptome).
The Environment Protection Act, 1986 empowers the Government of India to
- state the requirement of public participation in the process of environmental protection, and the procedure and manner in which it is sought
- lay down the standards for emission or discharge of environmental pollutants from various sources
Official answer key says answer is 2 only. Isn't public participation a part of EPA?

I think the first statement is specifically a part of environmental impact assessment
Yeah I agree, but how would we know if it is not there in EPA as public participation is present in almost every act of GOI.

EPA doesn't contain this provision specifically afaik.
That's what everyone says after the answer key comes out 😂. I think questions like these can't be answered even if you have the whole act in front of you.
:D someone rightly said on forum that there are things that u learn for exam, and other facts u get to learn after exam (from key).
You don't even learn after the exam, in this exam where you get the answer key 18 months after the exam :p
@Jammu and@Hououin_Kyouma , these type of questions can be a deal breaker though. 2-3 questions means 6 marks. The thing is, how to develop such aptitude? Is it all related to calming our nerves or is there something more?
So as I think-
Major part is having time at your disposal in exam, like last year paper was too lengthy. So there was less chance of getting such answers:
for example- before prelims, Azad hind mentioned about KONDA and related it with Andhra Pradesh, It helped me to correct one question
at the same time due, I wasn't able to look at question like KULYAVAPA, DRONAVAPA. But there also it was easier to guess the answer.
they can fail us also, if applied illogically like question like GHANTASHALA, as CHAUL and KAdura were also there, I went with Buddhist centre :P
can be said that, it is mixture of your vocabulary across some Indian languages, general awareness of things, available time, risk taking attitude, most importantlyit has to be your day. Go with the instincts if something clicks, it may or may not work, but the study of 2-3 years isn't working properly so taking such risk (limited) should not be an issue
applying things in mocks can help, it can be sort of habit for some, but as exam is close, we can look at some PYQs and try to apply some logics.
I don't know if it is a correct logic or not but I marked the ghantashala, Chaul question correct by the logic that Chauls are colonies in Mumbai and mumbai is a port city. Now I maybe wrong here, but I genuinely feel it's not just what you have read for the exam that will help you, but if you use your general awareness or understanding of your surroundings that can help you to eliminate many options.
One more example of where "logics" Failed me was a question on "dwarasamudra" Probably in case 2020 or 2019..
I was like dwarasamudra sounds like gateway of India, so must be in maharasthra...
And boy,, I was soo wrong..
Not to say that logics don't help, but we can not rely on them 100%..
Kya pata meri hi kismat khraab hai, mere logics hi illogical hote hain shayd 🥵
Mistake in these is acceptable. But How to guess these qns if you don't know all provisions of scheme.
Which of the following are the objectives of 'National Nutrition Mission'?
