Environment Red book [PT Things ] for Prelims 2021

Hello All,

So have been working on this project for Environment book with some forum members for coming up with a good book on Env given the current ones are a little over-kill and most of it is outdated.

This compilation should be the new kid in the market that should ease some of your pain for Env preparation.

Download the pretty PDF + Really good stuff on ENV from below link :)

@Neyawn - Sirji, Senior citizens (read 'Purane Aspirants') kya ise padh skte hain for prelims 2021 ? Overkill to nahi hoga?

Nope.

In trying to cover everything it became a bit bulky. Still beats the existing books .

Plus coverage is good. Got it reviewed by senior citizens of your batch and before.

Asked them will you recommend it to a sibling ( or read yourself )

One particular kid took 15 days , then read it line by line and said - Yes , it’s got everything.

It has been very minutely reviewed. By some of the best people.

@Neyawn - need to start reading it then. Anyways my SFGs ranking are a bit disappointing.

Three rules

1) Try to maintain a certain percentage of marks , given that in online, some unfair means may be used. so ranks may not be the best way. I would recommend between 60-70% of score should be maintained

2) If in some some paper you get very less marks like 30-40 , make sure you note down topics from which questions are asked. The. Prepare those topics and write the same paper after 2 weeks, keep doing until you score 80% in the paper. Helps “conquer” some weak subjects.

3) Questions for basic concepts can’t be wrong . Create a ruckus ( in your life ) over basic questions getting wrong . You should promise that you will revise not only that topic , but freaking whole chapter from which that question was asked. And never ever in future would you get a question from there.

@Neyawn Is this booklet supposed to be a substitute for Shankar IAS book or complementary reading to it?

I noticed that the chapter layout is quite similar (in structure and in content) but it has some additional factoids for Prelims.

This should be THE Standard Book. :)

Not additional reading :)

@NeyawnIs there any reason for naming these 'red' books?

Umm, this was supposed to be the first book. It was Environment so was inspired by the IUCN Red List. The GS 4 book came before so we stuck to red book series.

You have any better ideas ? :(

Always wondered, why "PT" stands for Preliminary exam and NOT Personality Test. There isnt a "T" in Preliminary while PT=Personality Test seems very logical. But, almost all say PT=prelims.

Yes, I have the usage of PT for Prelims. But for past few weeks there were kids continuously messaging me saying, what all to refer for "PT Things". Hence the name.

The word PT for preliminary has come from older JEE format where PT meant "Preliminary Test"

Page Number 125 says Maharashtra has highest number of sacred groves in India. Its wrong. Himachal Pradesh has the highest.

It is also given in answer keys of Vision.

I feel this book is good for veterans as it provides width assuming readers have the depth.
In my humble opinion, 1st attempters should go for Shankar and read this one as a supplement to update themselves with the latest developments.
A decent booklet nonetheless. :)

Thanks ! This is what I was going to do as well. The updates to be read from here and shankar should be the base.
