Most of the rankers often share with us that their essay score has determined their cadre. All of us preparing for the exam understand that if not cadre, then the service you get into depends on the essay paper. And, we strongly believe that if not cadre and service, then your selection will be definitely aided by your essay score.
UPSC has prescribed what it is seeking from the essay paper, we are expected to keep closely to the subject of the essay ; to arrange the ideas in orderly fashion, and to write concisely. Credit will be given for effective and exact expression.

We would also like to suggest these Do’s and Don’ts for your upcoming Essay paper:
DO's
- Do remember to breathe and relax before you start the paper.
- Do write the essay topic and the number
- Do choose an essay topic in which you have clearly understood the meaning of the statement, without an iota of doubt.
- Do arrange your arguments logically in the brainstorming page before you start writing the essay.
- Do give equal time to both essays.
DONT's
- Don’t judge your first essay in the exam hall and let it affect your second essay.
- Don’t choose a topic because you have a catchy introduction/conclusion.
- Don’t choose essay topics that have overlapping themes in Section A and Section B.
- Don’t write the Section B essay first and then rush through the essay in Section A.
- Don’t choose an essay where you haven’t understood a specific keyword.
