"Ek aisi bhi 'Kaum-unity' hai iss desh me jisne na diye jalaye na, mobile flashlight.Accha hi hai, sankat ke samay hi asliyat saamne aati hai"
This sure is communal. Yes, the idiots who came together at Nizamuddin must be condemned and they must be punished.

However, where are you getting this data of one "kaum-unity" not participating in yesterday's activity? If this is your personal experience from yourneighborhood, then sorry friend but that's inadequate data. In mylocality, people from all communitiesparticipated

Next, yesterday's event was merely symbolic show of solidarity. How has it helped the migrants walking all the way to their home states? or even the health professionals for that matter?  Yes, symbolic solidarity is important too. But last time we were clapping and banging thalis, doctors and nurses were shunned away from their rental accommodations. Air India staff faced similar crisis. Also, social media is full of medical professionals begging for safety equipment, something as basic as a mask. HOW HAS YESTERDAY'S EVENT MADE A DIFFERENCE?

And while we engage in theatrics, let us not demonize those who don't. PERIOD.

"But in a way it is good for the nation, now we just have to wait and watch. The ticking time bomb has got a new momentum." Are you serious? Are you suggesting and even hoping for communal clashes? New Momentum. Great. Are you sure you'll be an impartial public servant?

We maintain a balanced opinion not because we are aspirants but because we are highly qualified citizens who can look beyond the apparent. I initially decided to overlook your outrageous comments, but then I got reminded of a very wonderful teacher and letting you go would have been an insult to him.

@Raillife instead of going to delhi and renting room can't you try renting a small room nearby your house for studying. Also you wouldn't have to worry about food...(gharcha j1). Or may be any tier2/3 cities in maharashtra itself if you have family or friend there..Of course i wouldn't know your situation...but just suggesting..

i left ORN and came back home. trust me ORN is better for studies. At home, people think that you have no job. continuous disturbance and parents keep talking about covid 19 . everyone keeps watching tv at home. have lost all momentum. have not even written one test in a long time.

how are you guys dealing with this?

I'm preparing from home (Buxar) for last 6 months, in isolation. It was very tough initially to adjust, but now it's very much settled. So I can give some suggestions.

I usually divide my routine in 4 hours and 2 hours slots for studies and breaks respectively. This way I manage to study for 12 hours ( sometimes lesser, but in any case not less than 8 hours).

And in break times - "Mah Life, Mah rules !". I keep some variations in my hobbies and interests like Podcasts, Music, Books reading, Newspaper, Shows/Movies etc.

Some recommendations:

1. Podcasts: Naval, Coffee Break German (any language). Although I am new to this hobby, but will highly recommend.

2. Music: of favourite singers, composers or lyricists (again a great variety here). You can recommend me some.

3. Books: At this time, will recommend to read books related to our UPSC syllabus. I am currently reading 'The Discovery of India'.

4. Newspaper: The Hindu (for not more than half an hour).

5. Shows: Ramayana with family.

6. YouTube: The Print (cut the clutter, National Interest), Photography related videos, UPSC related videos (only if I search for it, not the recommendations) and some comedy videos.

7. Cooking: some snacks at evening (sometimes) like French fries, sandwich, chai etc.

8. Journal writing: everyday before going to bed, reflecting on the day. You can also write letters to someone who's birthday is coming up.

Now I don't think you'll get time to do or to think anything else.

As the exam approaches, everyone has mood swings. The one who overcomes this, succeeds.

And you can chant Ranchhod Das Chanchad's Mantra "All is well....All is well".

  1. Aunties are not coming in ORN/NRN.  Civil servants are serving people, BUT in my case, I am serving 'Future CIVIL SERVANTs" (Flatmates)....Cooking lunch/dinner (either one) for them. They are terrible at COOKING>may get malnourished in 21 days>may fail in CSAT (sudden crash in IQ/EQ level like SENSEX)...so taking my time out for them.
  2. No new material (CA/Tests/Magazine) in room since last 7-8 days...waah.
  3. PEN crisis....students are like "arrey yaar pen khatamm ho gaye'.
  4. Sometimes feel like Kaale paani kee sajaa----ORN jail (rooms)
  5. Many more.

"Yeh samay bhi gujar jaayega chill way mei. :)

major changes witnessed in orn:

  • Closure of study halls
  • Closure of Bookstalls
  • No tea stalls but cigarettes are available in black market.
  • No parks no chit chattings in parks
  • Closure of all restuarant but some food stalls are available for home delivery.

No major changes in Daily life routines

  • People are coming for milks and vegetables frequently than before lockdown
  • Everyone trying their hands on cooking.
  • People are playing cricket like nothing happened(only minute population).
  • Dogs(a.k.a Human Companion) are having much say than before, they became orn ke raja.

The busy streets of Golchakar road which greeted anxious aspirant holding yellow covered booklets replaced the masked aspirants holding groceries(although now streets are neither busy nor empty).

@tuckerbudzyn You must decide whether that symbolism was important or it was just theatrics. There is a strong contradiction in your reply. You must not be confused in your approach or need to balance when your intent is to criticize the efforts of 79.8% of people.

For a nation not fully equipped to fight this disaster, these little moments are a sign of hope amidst dark times. Banging thalis or lighting diyas gave people what spitting on doctors & spreading this virus can never give.

I may be wrong about my locality but for those who really wish to see around the nation have seen the true face of a Kaum-unity. Banging thali was not that noticeable. But intentionally not turning your lights off was something which people 'saw' & 'felt'.

If someone tries to look beyond The Wire, NDTV & other leftists (minority appeasers) news agencies, they may see something positive. DRDO, Indian Railways, other PSUs working day & night to manufacture products for our medical industry. Medical professionals getting health cover, people generously donating in PM-CARES.

Being an impartial civil servant & behaving like an ostrich are two different things.

You may want to consider that people doing a certain thing cannot be given religious identity. For example would you say, when Kanika Kataria got sick and infected others, would you say hindu girls are infecting people?

Except the hindu newspaper, no other newspaper reported that one of the people attacked by the mob in MP was a lady doctor, a Muslim. And being a Muslim she was not dealt softly by attacking groups.

@Neyawn i had read education and health units frm the book alas couldnt find nything catchy xcpt 4 more clarity!can u recommend ny specific chapter frm the book plz?on a casual note my observation s ths most of the technical people (xclude mba guys)i read until yet hav relatively poor writing style Including widely acclaimed guys lik Nandan Nilekani!!srry if harsh!

I will have to look. But there are at least 10 ideas with respect to why poverty exists.

Linkages between malnutrition poverty cycle. Some of the things should be very enlightening to Civils aspirants.

Do not read from Mains perspective. Just read it for the sake of reading.

Nandan Nilekani”s book was ahead of its time. It depends on when you are reading it. When he wrote the book in 2000s we did not have DBT, ADhaar, Universal Basic Income.

Only after 2010 those ideas became powerful. When I was working as Prime Minsters Rural Development Fellow, state governments ( and PRIs) were appalled that people would directly get money I bank accounts.

The banking penetration Was very poor. It looks easy in hindsight now, but it was very challenging.

I can tell you that the Union nearly threatened the States of not giving funds unless they implemented JAM and DBT. State Secretaries and DMs would be held to task every month via VC from Union . I attended some of them that time, so I witnessed it first hand.

Panchayats used to laugh that Indira Awas will come in account of people who can’t read and write. But all of it happened.

It was this man”s vision.

All of history looks less exciting in hindsight.

@Xarathustra Rightly said bro

Yesterday, I was having a talk with Muslim on Twitter. He had a good knowledge of Quran, and telling me many thing about Islam.

Then, I asked him whether Hafiz is a terrorist or not. He replied he don't know, only Allah will decide. Gave same answer for Osama and Kasab.

Another Muslim tells me that Hafiz is not a muslim.  When I ask Who expelled him from Islam... Any fatwa from maulana or madarasa?.. He don't have ans. But he also refrained himself from speaking anything against Hafiz.

Now, why a particular kaum always get targeted.

A person let's say kanika spread corona. But there is no any Hindu idealogy involved. Except that nearly all Hindus criticised those practice.

Now, jamati spread covid, how many Muslim criticise them...?

Remember how people on tik tok wants to promote sunnat practice(islamic ideology) amid pandemic crisis, when govt clearly instructed all to avoid handshake and keeping a distance.

While every temples, church, gurudwara get closed. Some people still gathering in masjid for namaj. They care nothing except Allah.

@Nikita This exam demands collective effort of family. Your whole family should be preparing for the exam.

Initially, I took time in adjusting, I used to think I'm not able to study because someone is gossiping or someone is watching TV or my relatives would be criticising behind my back, or my friends must be studying more than me etc. I blamed anything and everything for not able to concentrate.

Gradually I came to realise that I can't study because I have no plan.

By the way, there is some truth in all those arguments. So, I started taking steps.

1. Firstly, I conveyed my parents what this exam means to me. They had no idea what this exam demands. Since they understood my problems, it was an easy task to fix all the problems.
2. I made some rules about the schedule to watch TV.
3. I conveyed my relatives that I am preparing for exam from home and I am here to stay for long. The one thing that comes in the way is, your self doubt about you staying at home. After that no one has visited my home unnecessarily.
4. Then I got a separate room for me. A study table and a comfortable chair is a must.
5. Then gave responsibility to everyone to alert me according to routine. The routine is simple, slots of 4 hours and 2 hours for study and break respectively.
6. I joined online courses (for optional, current affairs and Prelims Preparatory classes) to have continuity.

That's all it needed.

I don't know about your situation, but hope this helps.

P.S.: I am not saying, I follow timetable religiously. Efficiency is never 100%, it is a natural law.

How long does it take to complete these monthly CA booklets (Avg 80-100 pages)??? I really feel I am too slow and just wanted an idea from other candidates.

It doesn't really matter. Even if you are taking too much time and are able to remember most of the points then you are at an advantageous position than those who are doing it quickly but unable to remember most of the data. So focus more on understanding and making notes rather than on time.
