Anyone in dilemma to give mains 2021?
2 new optional in 1 month seems impossible :|IFS mains will end on 6th march…and prelims is scheduled on 5th june… not even 3 months…
IMHO, looking at the cost benefit, its better to stick to the Civils 2022 preparation (both pre and mains, yes mains is not far too!!! 😰🤒)…
Please don't. IFoS to some extent still remaims a low hanging fruit. All these people that you see topping the exam , they were just like you, often in a dilemma like you and have seen them get top ranks including Rank 1. It's a very good career and not in any way less that the allied services. I mean peope in IFS dont wish ki kaash AFHQ ya IIS mil jata.
Don't ignore it. Not one bit. You will thank me later. This year brilliant civils kids like Gurharsh and Divya from TN jave gotten top 10 ranks. One of them dropped only for IFS whereas the other cleared with CS Mains burden.
Another kid from Bihar , Nitish i guess was his name, focussed only on IFS and has some Rank 43 or something. IFS is a good service and is doable in two months.
If any of you need help or inputs i can arrange a webinar with some IFS selected folks. Most of them are Civils people only. Hardly 10% are actual PUSA students.
There are people i know who read from Wikipedia and made notes and now they are the topper notes.
You just have to not give up despite Mains fatigue. Don't wanna sound like daddy or neighbourhood uncle, but some things importance you only see when you missed the opportunity to gran them while you still could.
If you are selected for IFS Mains, under no circumstance miss it.

AFAIK, the rank of IFS is equivalent to IAS and when the DM of a district goes on leave, it is the IFS officer who presides over the meetings. Am I correct?Anyone in dilemma to give mains 2021?

That is not correct. When the DM leaves, he gives charge to development department people only like DDC or ADC or ADM. Sometimes it may be given de-facto a more junior person, who may be from IAS.
You see apart from the IAS, everything else is a department.
Why IFS scores is because (a) As an IFS you enjoy same access like an IAS or an IPS in most places and amongst collegues. I mean being from an AIS you could dial up an IAS. Not so if you for example are in Stace Services. The heirarchy is very high there. An IFS is a collegue. The kids of IAS, IPS and IFS may play together. Not so with State PCS. There is a gap. That gap has to be maintaned if you have to run administration.
Two, the quality of life is good, if you enjoy staying in a bit far off areas.
I mean, I have not seen someone regret IFS over say RBI Grade B or Statce PCS or lower Allied Services.

@everybodylies you can do one thing..go through syllabus of both botany and geology..analyse the topics...look for 1-2 toppers from botany and understand their strategy....you must see that botany would i guess involve lot of diagrams and that too slightly more technical..so you must be comfortable with it..you must also make sure that good quality material is available for it...Insofar as geology is concerned..i have taken it so can say that it is quite extensive and would need some time..but good material is available...so evaluate both in these parameters and then take your decision...someone with botany can also share his her insights..
@harsimran_cheema127926 I think you made it this year! Congratulations.
I know I am late on this!
